In the decade of the sixties. It was very common place for Apostolic ministers to preach agianst brethren that sported facial hair. One reason for this, was because of young people at the time that were rebelling against all and any authority figures,
This was called the free spirit movement or the hippie generation.Young man would let their facial hair grow just for spite. Was this any good reason to preach against that which God gave to a man that would naturally grow.
My point here is this, there are still preachers today ,that still preach this pharisee doctrine. There are still those amongst the oneness ranks who condem their fellow brethren to hell because they sport facial hair.Is this right.
There is no scriptural authority for any preacher to preach agianst facial hair.
These preachers have set their selves above God. He was the one who gave us facial hair. Now pharisee preachers amongst oneness flock want us to shave off, what God gave us to grow.
No God does not condem a soul to hell ,because they have facial hair.
No one does not have to be shaved to be saved.
Any preacher who preaches against us wolly burgers will have to face God's wrath for such unholy conduct.
Its my personal thought that such pharisees would strap Jesus Christ down in a barber chair and shave him.
Shalom upon the Isreal of God and those who love truth.

Alogi, while I agree with your general premise, I'm not sure the "God gave us facial hair, he must want us to have it, why should we shave it" theory will fly.
God gave us body odor too, but we wash it off each day. Hopefully, we do anyway.

Brother ,body oder, comes from sweating. It has nothing to do with what occurs natural. One thing has nothing to do with the other. There are some who cannot sweat.
One question. If God did not give us facial hair, then why is it there hair on some man and yet not others?
The main reason that most man shave is plain and simple they are just not happy with the way that God made them/
Yes brother God gave us facial hair.Because scripture tells me that God knows every strand of hair that we have on our head.

You confuse me, and apparently, I confuse you too.
My point is that if your argument is to hold water, then a man shouldn't even trim his beard, cut his hair, clip his fingernails, etc.
And as far as body odor coming from sweat, even the people who can't sweat, as you say, will get ripe after a few days.

Pllease brother what does finger nail Clipping have to do with facia hair.
I do believe in personal grooming ok.Yet completely shaving ones hair.
Let me rephrase my remarks abot body odor, it is natural.Yet why are we trying to compare apples to oranges here.
Body odor and growing facial hair are two totally different subject here.I dont follow your logic here.
I have never known of any one who has facia hair that his hair stinks.Just unless he just doesnt wash.

Ok, I'll try and make it very simple for you, hopefully I'm successful.
1.) You say that since God gave men facial hair they should let it grow. I say, how long should we let our beards grow? Uncut?
2.) I say, God gives people fingernails too, should we let them grow? And if so, to how long? Uncut?
3.) I say, God made our bodies to produce sweat too, how long should we allow our bodies to go unwashed, just because God made us this way?
4.) I say, God allows our hair to grow too, should we all let it grow, and if so, how long? Uncut?
Am I making this too complicated? Does this make sense to anyone else besides me?

I am following you completely. This is not an apples and oranges thing. The argument being used here is that God gave it to us, but now he wants to narrow the focus.
I am not disputing the argument that there is not biblical premise to shave.

First off its not how long one should let ones finger nails grow that we are discussing here .It is facial hair.
Grooming finger nails and growing facial hair are two diffrent things.
Brother you basically asked about how long should we go with out bathing.
Would you propose the same question to a man like John the baptist or any other prophet of God who wonder the the wilderness. Can you just imagine the oder these man may have had.
Would you ask them how long their facial hair should grow?
Please explain to me ,what not taking a bath has to do with one shaving their face.
One has nothing to do with the other.
One can shave and stiil not take a bath.Does one who does not take a shower, die lost in burning hell. No they will not.Taking a bath is not a prequisite for salvation.
One is not saved just because they shave or not. That is my whole point here,
So why preach against someone who does not shave.
Please show me scripture where any preacher has this right to condem some one to hell beacsue the grow facial hair.
Brother would you strap Jesus Christ down to a barber chair and take a razor to his throat if he walked into your church.
Who here would?

First off I just want to know why do those of the UPCI and other Apostolic denominations hold to this pharisee doctrine.''Shave to be saved'
Again the logic here and common sense is this.We are talking about salvation and what shaving has to do with it.We are not talking about nail cutting or bathing. These are different issues. Why cant anyone stay on track here.Stop trying to side track the issue.
I am trying to stick with the shaving issue here.Everyone else wants to go on about, talking about some kind of bath or nail cutting.Do any of you believe that one has to take a bath before God will save them?If not why not. Most of yall seem that one has to be shaved, before God will save them.
Some here seem to be debating for that cause.
Again nails have nothing to do with taking a razor to ones face.let us use common sense here.We are taking about beards and mustaches not finger nails and not body odor.
Anyone can go to any alter stinking and God will save them. Being bathed is not a requirement, that God needs to accept a broken heart.
For what I have seen so far.I can only come to the conclusion that those that have answered here so far believe in works for salvation.I have came across this many times with in oneness ranks. This my friends is called pharisseeism.
One is not saved by works ,One is saved because they have obeyed God, not because they cut or allow their nails to grow out.One is saved because of obedience to Acts2;38,not because they shave or not.
All I am asking is for all pharisees to learn that they are not special,God does allow Holy man to wear beards.
Folks, let us use some little wisdom here.I havent seen any yet.

First off I just want to know why do those of the UPCI and other Apostolic denominations hold to this pharisee doctrine.
Been in the UPC 35+ years. Although I could see this happening in more conservative/strict churches, I have never been in a UPC church were this has been preached from the pulpit. And anywhere that I have run across a shaving issue (both in the stateside churches and in foreign countries), it has always been about presenting a clean cut image on the platform. It has never been about salvation. Some pastors would like for the image of their leadership that is on the platform to have a short hair, clean cut image. There is nothing wrong with that, nor is it salvational. (And for those of my friends reading this who sport goatees or other facial hair, this is not a jab that yours is not a clean cut image. :) )
Most of yall seem that one has to be shaved, before God will save them.
Some here seem to be debating for that cause.
No one in this thread has proclaimed that. And no one has argued your point that shaving is not a requirement for salvation.
For what I have seen so far.I can only come to the conclusion that those that have answered here so far believe in works for salvation.I have came across this many times with in oneness ranks. This my friends is called pharisseeism.
If you have reached that conclusion from reading the responses in this thread, your deductions are incorrect.
All I am asking is for all pharisees to learn that they are not special,God does allow Holy man to wear beards.

So now because we disagree with the logic that you used to come to your conclusion (THAT WE ALL AGREE WITH!), we are now the pharisees. Great logic.

.
Why are we even devoting this much time to a subject like men shaving their beards? Or women shaving their legs, underarms, etc? These are culture things and have nothing to do with Scripture.
Look at pictures of the old time Pentecostal leaders. Some of the men had sideburns, shaggy hair, and facial hair. It was not an issue.
Later, men began to go clean shaven with little or no facial hair. Again, just custom. During the nineteen sixties, long hair and facial hair began to appear among some as a form of protest. Because this was something "new" and a little different form the "norm" some preachers started teaching and preaching about it. They made themselves look silly with stating that Jesus had close cropped hair and was clean shaven. When the Bible prophesied about Jesus having his beard pulled out some preachers said that meant that the Roman soldiers used tweezers and pulled out what was just a few hours stubble. Again, this was just a "reaction" by some preachers to a change that was happening.
In our ALJC church we had a couple of young men who were preachers and they were called down in a UPC camp meeting down South because of their sideburns. They were told by some of the ministers that their sideburns were "offensive." A couple of young men in the church grew beards and our pastor told them they were not allowed on the platform nor could they take any active part in the church because of their beards. Yet at the same time he would allow a minister from a nearby PAW church on the platform and invite a young man from a nearby UPC church to sing even though they both had facial hair (mustache). The last service I attended at that church was on a Sunday night when the pastor declared from the platform as part of his Sunday night sermon, "The Bible says that a man is supposed to be clean shaven." That was enough ignorance and false teaching for me. I left that church and have not been a member of a Oneness Pentecostal church since. That was almost 30 years ago.

Sam,
That was my point. There is no biblical stance against facial hair. This teaching started infiltrating the church (no matter the org) during the protest era. No one on this thread stated that being clean shaven was sound doctrine. It's not. It is not salvational.

You've seen plenty of it, you just don't have the mental capacity to recognize it.
Let's forget about nails, baths, etc. for a minute.
Let me ask you a plain and simple question, and I hope I don't overload your synapses here, don't want to overheat the capacitors:
If you think a man should let his beard grow, do you believe he should let it grow untrimmed for as long as he lives?
Or is there an acceptable length for it to reach, and then he can trim it and shape it?

Visit the historical society of the UPC at WEC and you will find books of our forefathers sporting mustaches, beards, etc. It is not a heaven or hell issue.
Alogi, you are so focused on having facial hair that you cannot understand logic and reasoning. If you want facial hair that bad, go to a church where you don't feel condemned to have it. Don't make illogical argument just to have/get your way.
P.S. If a pastor chooses to teach against facial hair, that is his perogative. Don't try and change him. Church standards vary church to church.

Now some one here use the word conservative. That is rediculous. It is your churches that are mostly composed of pharisees. That called themselves conservative. Not really knowing what true conservatism really is.
Modesty is usaully defined by the culture that we live in.We as apostolics are not supposed to be of the world. The world says that we should shave so the so called apostolics say ''amen.''Then they follow the ways of the world and shave.I dont define my walk with the Lord by what the world says that I have to do.

What is so sad about this all, is that we dont have enough Godly man with a back bone to stand up against this pharisee belief. And cry out about.
Lets see if some of the feeble minded here can grasp this.'' It is same God that gave ladies long hair to grow, that gave man facail hair to grow.'' Now, please answer the question - do you trim your beard? Or do you let it grow uncut?

Don't ban him yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to find out how long he lets his beard grow!
I mean, if God wants it to grow, does he leave it uncut? Or does he trim it, thereby limiting God's glory?????????

Alogi,
Here's how it works on a forum--
It is a CONVERSATION. You ask questions AND you ANSWER questions. Otherwise, eventually NO ONE will talk to you at all.
So, answer the question:
How long do you believe facial hair should grow?
Should it be cut at some point?
By the way, just about everyone on this forum is a man or woman of God in some capacity, so please show some respect when you are conversing with us, and don't call anyone a "bald faced liar" or a "pharisee."

Alogi,
Chill a little, Bro.
There is great diversity among Apostolic Pentecostals. Some believe some pretty strange things about dress codes and standards and actually believe their weird beliefs are binding and salvational on everybody else. Others are more moderate and still others are quite liberal. Some OP's are one-steppers, some are three-steppers, some believe in "the light doctrine," others believe in eternal life at the Great White Throne Judgment for all who sincerely lived up to what they believed and understood.
Don't get bent out of shape over something as trivial and inconsequential as facial hair. It's not worth getting steamed up over. You'll probably get answers here that go from one extreme to the other across the OP spectrum.
In my opinion, facial hair is just one of many things that is completely personal between the person and his Lord and fits in the Romans chapter 14 category.
So, don't tell me to let my beard grow and I won't tell you to shave yours.

Some have tried to change Alogi's point. He is talking about Oneness Pentecostal Churches NOT the people on this forum. I'm glad most on the AFF do not believe such a Pharisee doctrine.
However far as I know that IS the position of most Oneness Churches. There is getting to be a disconnect over the issue between Pastors and the People. Most Churches hide behind the pitiful "platform standards" cliche on the issue. In other words maybe you can be saved with a beard but you cannot be holy with one.
My own experience with Oneness groups confirms what Alogi is pointing out.

Michael, that isn't true. At least, they don't preach that you'll be lost for having facial hair. There are a lot of churches that have a cleanshaven guideline, but in all my years of growing up in the church, I can't recall a single sermon where the minister said, "Shave or you'll be lost."

Ok sorry folks,I just have limited time here.SoI will try to be brief. This first remark is for the so called heavenly one.You dont know nothing about me.So Jezebel stick to the shadows ok.
''Micheal the disciple'' thank you for for your keen observations and wisdom here.I just hope that You are not a trinitarain. Now for the ones that want an answer.
Heres the answers to the pharisee question.
[1]There is no scripture that states that a man should cut his facial hair.
[2]Only Pharisees will put an limitation to how long a man should grow his facial hair.
[3]There is no scripture that states how long a man should grow facial hair.So the question that was raised by the pharisee is irrelevant. How long should someone allow his facial hair should grow?, is an ignorant question.Yet here this ignorant question has been
adressed.
Now rather I shave or not is a personal choice. It is not a slavational issue. It is not I that makes it so.It is those of the United Pharisee Church does.
I believe in Holiness and modesty,it is just sad that what I have seen from some here that they dont.
Those churches that put standards on man to shave, they are not conservatives they are Pharisees and thus not Apostolics.
Having facia lhair is all about being happy with the way God made you.If you cant grow facial hair then this is not an issue.Yet if you can grow facia hair ,then you have shaven off something that God put there. Thus you are changing the art work God has done.
Folks be happy with the way God made you ,that is all that am trying to get you pharisees to see.
If one grows a beard he can still be saved. You pharisees need to repent of your wickedness toward us that do grow facial hair. How long it grows doesnt matter.God is our judge on that ,not you.
So I see that I am getting no where with this,so I am dropping this matter, I have told you truth so this has made me an enemy to pharisees.
Alogi, I've reported your posts, for the simple fact that you called HO a Jezebel, Michael the Disciple a trinitarian, and you called anyone who requires a man to be clean shaven a Pharisee.

No problem Jeanie.
I have a real problem with people who extend their personal viewpoints, and then when asked to explain them, either run away, imply that people who question them are stupid, or worse yet, resort to name calling.
If I, or anyone else on this forum, wants to make a claim concerning their viewpoint of scripture, or personal convictions, they should be able to back up their claims with scripture, or at least common sense.
There are three ways to respond when questioned:
1.) Either back your premise with scripture or common sense;
2.) Tell people this this is just your personal conviction, and it's not necessarily what you feel everyone should do;
3.) Re-evaluate your viewpoint when faced with opposing views.

Wow hard to believe the reaction here. Think about it for a minute. People can be patient, kind, and longsuffering to Preachers that preach the unscriptural doctrine that men will either be lost or they are not holy enough to sit with the Holiness people on the platform YET.....
When someone like Alogi registers a complaint about it HE is the bad guy. Yes he probably needs to learn his internet forum manners HOWEVER he has made a perfectly valid point.
Instead of being upset with the Preachers who have fostered this heresy and turned many thousands of good men AWAY FROM ONENESS this man is reported as if he has done some great evil.
I dont know him. I may disagree with him on EVERYTHING else. But my time among Oneness Churches confirms what he said. To the point of if one had a Beard he was full of devils!
No one can tell me this is RARE. I was an Elder in the Church. I saw the Evangelists come through and preach it. I saw the Pastor jump on the bandwagon.
And in visiting other Churches I saw the same thing. Yes I know that now the PEOPLE are getting set free from this doctrine. But the Churches in my area still preach the "platform standards" thing. And even on this board where most know this doctrine to be false I would almost bet that many if not most of your Pastors still hold to this.
