I talked to a pastor's wife this evening who is one of the leaders of the The Western District ladies auxillary. This year's conference has already had almost 700 pre-register for the upcoming conference at the end of the month. She said this means there will be about 1600 women at this conference. About 60% do not pre-register.
This conference will be held Feb 21-23 at the Visalia Convention center(near Fresno,Ca).
Why do I say this? It was predicted that CA. was going downhill.
It doesn't look like WPF is hurting the ladies meetings.
Any thoughts?

I have always said I think there will be less of a change than what so many thought. In all actuality this new org is not all its cracked up to be and because of that.. Nope I think more will see that life will go on.. and more than anything I think maybe the increased numbers because its all over now.. GC.. Tulsa... and everyone can go on with life as usual now and its not making a huge dent....

i reckon i need to git sister ogatt a bus ticket over there to ca.
with that many women there it would be a good chance to clean up some heatherns
maybe she can get together a hair curler burnin party and get some of those hems cut out.
when the maxi skirts went out the upc went straight down the sewer.

Well, honestly, it isn't so much the conference, it is just like an extended girls night out with my best friends, with no responsibility, just having fun for three days!
You would probably have to be a woman and have children to understand. Although this year my sister has to bring her little boy, but it will still be a blast!
Yes, I am almost giddy, I don't get out much, so there!! :happydance :happydance

Dizzy - what is the format of the conf? With that size of attendance, has California loosened the reign on the women and now allow them to minister?

Well, as long as I have been going they have only had women speakers, that has been for at least wow, 20 years! I haven't been to every one of them until the last 4 or 5 years, but the first one that I went to had a woman speaker. This years speaker was supposed to be Sis. McGruder (sp?), but she is not going to able to come because of her health, I think Sis. Gleason is going to replace her as speaker.
As far as format, it starts on Thursday night, regular service; Friday during the day there are several speakers, and then it breaks for the afternoon, night service; Saturday is one morning service with several speakers.
As a matter of fact, the only man who I have ever seen minister at the conference is Bro. Mullings, they usually had him do the last session on Saturday.
and you are soooo funny, estrogen, whateveh! :toofunny

Mark a real good source informed me that there has been about 500-550 register so far. I know you were probably speaking like a pastor and said that there was almost 700. I am sure it will get there. You also have to remember this is a anniversary ladies conf. so there are alot of women from outside of Cali. coming. Mark will you be in attendance?:bemine

The music is usually great, it varies how does it from year to year, last year Melanie Elms was one of the speakers and she did the music.
It is great church! They do drag on about the money a little long, but it seems like last year it wasn't as bad. Seems like it was during the day service, I can't exactly remember, I tend to zone out while that is going on.
In the past, the WD has had 2 ladies retreats, one for the north end of the district, and one for the south. The individuals conferences ran 600 to 700 each in attendance. This year is a special year, because it is the last conference for the old WD. They are only doing one, it is being billed as a reunion. So far registration is only at about 700, but as had been stated, many register at the door. They are hoping for at least 1,000.
There, everything you could ever possibly want to know about the WD ladies retreat! I am a veritable fountain of knowledge!! :happydance

Melanie Elms?!?!? If she was single, I'd be chasing her. She is drop-dead gorgeous! :happydance If California brings people in like her just for music, it must be a pretty awesome conference. If it is true only about half pre-register, then it looks like they will easily go past the 1,000 mark.

Absolutely not. She has the purist skin and rosiest complexion I have ever seen. She is falsely accused.
She is the lucky exception to the rule when it comes to women not needing a little makeup.
Most women I know don't want to over use makeup. They just want it to even their complexion, cover blemishes, make themselves attractive in the same classy way they choose attractive dresses, shoes, etc.
In other words to look more like this woman naturally does! Oh, and the old line that you can't use makeup because it is "not natural" does not fly with anybody with an ounce of logic. We do many things that are not "natural" to better ourselves.

It's also a possibility that the photos were altered after the fact. I know someone who has her picture on business cards. She made sure we knew that the company that produced them added color to her lips on their own; she was NOT wearing lipstick. I didn't think she needed to announce that, but apparently SOME people make it an issue.

Photoshop is a wonderful piece of software! However at every major UPC or Old Time Oneness Pentecostal meeting I have been two I have always seen one or two of these naturally beautiful young women gifted with smooth clear complexions, rosy lips, etc. As I said they are the exception to the rule in God's creation. Most need to make a little effort to look their best.

Also, some of this criticism seems to be coming from the WD. The same district that has people on this board who have claimed that girls on the platform at Youth Convention were dressed indecently.
*My daughter was one of the more prominent people on the platform the last few years. My best response to that imbecilic claim was not to comment.

For the first time ever In-N-Out burger let me down! Last month when our shipped docked in San Pedro and we headed for Marina Del Ray and Hollwyood I made a point to eat at my favorite In-N-Out burger. It is the one on Sunset or Hollywood Blvd (I forget which) near Hollywood High School.
However this time my double double tasted like one of the teenage workers went crazy with the salt shaker. It was very salty. Arghhhhh!!!! I was only there for 1 1/2 days so did not get a chance to eat at one again.
