Here are some pictures of a Village we visited during an outing with our host. When you visit there village they will fix you tea and some bread (forgot the name). I took of pictures of the children and the women- I loved making contact with these people, we wanted to offer to pray for the sick-but I dont think our host understood what we wanted to do, so I am going to continue praying for these people.

I love their spirit and those little huts are so immaculate!
You are so right this is a great opportunity for the church to get involved-it is my prayer that some day I do get to return and visit these villages!

Where is this village? Is that the sea in the background?
The village is next to this fresh water lake (the rains come and dump a large amount of water and make this lake). The lake evaporates with when the summer comes.
So this village sets up when the lake is there. The lake attracts birds, and seems to be a scenic spot just outside of Ahmedabad. A school was visiting this lake as well as other folks--like we would visit the park.

I wish I had another life to give to the mission field! I love missions...and pray for the fields of our world everyday.
I have tears running down my cheeks right now...paganism pains me...blessings to you folks and may God repay your love many times over for loving his lost sheep.

Yes, they do. Do you know if the jewelry is part of the culture? And I noticed the older women had their heads covered but the younger ones didn't.

Yes jewelry is definitely part of their culture, I was told it completes the look! There was a very tall young woman (I regret not taking her picture) who could have been a model, her attire was beautiful and she had her "bangles" on-to complete her look.

Pray that we can go back--btw if you think thats funny, you should see the cows casually walk down the street if front of our hotel.
But those cow are a big part of their food source. They make butter and cheese from their milk, plus drink the milk and buttermilk (which I drank as well).

Sister Alvear I had a burden for missions more than 20 yrs ago, and had to wait for this opportunity to come. ( I knew it would, I just didnt know I would have to wait that long)
After being in India it is really hard to come back home to life as usual- that is for sure.

The Hindus do, they do not serve beef in many places that we ate at.

I know, I am getting a mixture of reactions from folks since I have been home.
One thing I like about India is that they do not stay in doors and most people are outside interacting with each other, I was never never bored.
I hope I get to go to Kenya one day myself!:)

My friends and family here probably get tired of me talking about Africa, but it's just in my blood now. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks!!!! I read every book about Africa that I can get my hands on, religious or secular.

I know what you mean, Keith and I did the same thing (read books about India). I went to a family gathering and wore one of my Punjabi's, I bought a new one while in India that I love and wish I had more like it.
I am really fascinated by these village people. Meeting them was a high light of our visit.

Jeannie: Our pastor is in India now. I believe this is his second trip there. He should be back Thursday afternoon and I'm sure he will have lots of wonderful reports. It was announced this past Sunday morning that 350 people had received the Holy Ghost there already. Our church has really been praying.
These pictures you posted are wonderful. Thanks for sharing with us.

Jeannie, I really don't know where he is in India and I don't know whether he went through the UPC. I am thinking that someone mentioned a conference and our pastor was asked to be a speaker. I guess I should ask more questions! I will find out and let you know later. Perhaps you even went to the same area..God Bless.

Actually I do sometimes, I wish I knew then what I know now- and I think I would have looked going over seas differently than I do now. I was told 20 years ago when I shared a desire to go do missions that I need "to be still and know that He is God" what ever that meant!
