Hi everyone!
I am looking for a new church home and its kinda hard because I am not from the area and I don’t know anyone to ask for recommendations. I’m currently in Houston Texas.
Anyone know of a good church to visit? I know most of you are UPCi, but not all. I am really indifferent at this point to the organization (as long as they are Oneness Pentecostal/Apostolic)....once I visit I can determine through interaction and prayer if its right for me.
Maybe you live here, or you have family here....or a cousin....:friend
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Its hard to look through the phone book, because not every church that claims to be Apostolic is “sound” in their belief system (from reading some of the web sites and their “belief” statements).
Thank you, and please keep me in your prayers during this transition in my life.

There is a site at
http://apostolic-pentecostal-churches.net/Texas/
which lists Apostolic churches by city for the state of Texas.
It includes churches which are not UPC.

My daughter and her husband love to visit Ron Macy's church when they are in Houston. She said if they lived in Houston they would attend this church.

Thank you all for your suggestions and PM's. I wrote them all down and will map them out to try and visit the ones that aren't too far. Baytown I think is kinda far from me, but thank you for responding! I really appreciate it.
I'm a member of Glory Land Church .... great church ...
other good churches
would be Grace Church of Humble ... pastored by the Jones brothers .... FABULOUS ...
HAS JUST ADDED A 4 TH WEEKEND SERVICE .... Grace's WEBSITE HERE (http://gcofh.com/v3/)
Also I recommend taking a look at Church of Champions (http://champ.org) ... pastored by Wendell Hutchins ...
Are you on the north or south side, Mercy?

Humble is a little far from where I live. I am....I guess NW. Like 290 area.
Bro. Price had already told me about Gloryland...I figured it was humble when I mapped it out. Its about 30 minutes from where I live. Not bad for a Sunday but would probably be murder trying to get there during the week with traffic!!
Thank you for responding, are all of your suggestions in the Humble area?
Are you on the north or south side, Mercy?
Champions is in Champions ..... near 249 and 1960.
I've learned it's going take you at least 20-30 minutes to get anywhere here ... it's large geographically.

You could also go to Spring Tabernacle which is changing their name to Champion Life Centre soon. Of course they are in Spring.
A brother-in-law goes to a UPC church in the Houston area.
I think it is in Porter and the pastor's name is Green (or Greene).
It's pretty conservative and anti-television.
That may or may not appeal to you.

Life Tabernacle is a great church. However, it is more SE in Houston.
Good luck.
There are a lot of fine churches in Houston.

I recommend Champion Life Centre (Spring Tabernacle). James Green is the pastor there. My husband and I attend and have found the ministry to be powerful and the people genuine.
The other suggestions here are great as well. Couldn't really go wrong.

Is he going to stay UPC?
I see that he is with the WWPF group.
Is he going to stay UPC?
I see that he is with the WWPF group.
I heard yesterday that he has joined the Tulsa group and this is causing some consternation because his son or son-in-law or something like that is a UPC official and is staying with the UPC.
There are many, many Oneness Pentecostal churches in the Houston Texas.
Some of them actually recognize and fellowship one another.
speaking of Oneness Pentecostal churches in Houston,
there used to be a church there pastored by Bro. Kidson, who was an old time Oneness Pentecostal pioneer. I think his daughter was married to Bro. Gordon Magee who wrote "Is Jesus in the Godhead Or Is the Godhead in Jesus?" Is that church still alive and well, and if so, what is the name and who is pastor? if anybody knows.

This is a great church from what I am told. I got friends that go there. They were having marriage trouble and they descided to visit there and God touched them and restored their marriage. I listen to Pastor James preach alot over the net and really, really like him.

Neckstadt - just FYI to your in-laws...we (Spring Tab) just changed our name last Sunday on the church's 35th anniversary. It is now Champion Life Centre -- www.championlifecentre.org
It is a great place to be restored in your marriage - there was a 2 week preaching series on marriage and closing the doors of divorce as well as a Marriage conference earlier this month.
Dan - thanks for the well wishes. We are doing well and are happy there! I start choir tonight! :party

Does anybody go to Glorious Way Church in Houston or ever been? Its pastored by John Greiner which I had never heard much about until recently stumbling on their web page. I was thinking about visiting and wondered if anyone had any history or insight.

Bro Sam, From my knowledge of churches around Dallas/FtWorth area, that list is not even close to being complete. B-L

Do you know this Pastor personally? This is really close to where I live, but as I read the "beliefs" on thier page there is no mention of Oneness, or salvation beliefs. Just curious.

James Griffin knows him well as do many other posters here ...
James has been to several services.
He is Andrew Willis ... former UPCI. Think he left in 1992.
His is of the PCI persuasion ... I understand his grandfather played a role in the merger.
His brother Dan Willis pastors in Chicago.

Yeah, I slipped up. I posted that before I went back and read my PM's. Mr. Griffen and I already had that conversation!! I forgot. It was over a month ago.
Thank you for responding so quickly!
