We are making a couple of changes to our skins. A new skin has been added, Friends New Blue, and will be our new forum default skin. This is the skin that all guests will be viewing.

All new member accounts are set up to use the default skin, so if you have not set your personal skin to one of your choice, then you will see the new default skin. If you do not want to use it, and prefer to use the old one (Friends Blue), you can go to your UserCP> Settings & Options menu on left> Edit Options. Down at the very bottom is the Forum Skin choice menu.

We have also added Google Ads and a Google Search link to all of our skins. They have been tastefully set up to blend well with the skins, and should not be a nuisance to anyone. We have chosen to do this for a couple of reasons.

1.) To offset the cost of running the forum.

2.) To be able to give back to the community here.

We have seen many instances of love offerings sent to those in need within the AFF family. Whether it's a funeral, a get well wish, a ministry/missions offering, or just a sorely needed pick-me-up, the AFF family has pitched in numerous times to give to others. Not to mention those occasional fun contests! We will also be setting up a PayPal link on the forum home page for those who would like to give to specific needs that arise.

I think the PayPal link is a great idea!

According to your ID you have Friends Green listed as your skin choice. So it should show you that skin. Is it reverting from that?

I will do some checking tomorrow, the VB site is down for maintenance right now.

The only thing I can think of at this point is to tell you to try clearing your cache and temp internet files. And when you sign in to AFF check the 'remember me' box when you sign in.

I did both of what you suggested and it still stays the default blue.

What Internet browser do you use? Internet Explorer? (and which version, 6, 7) Firefox? Some other?

Are you having the same problem on BOTH computers? Work and home?

Yes - and I have tried several of the other skins and it is still the same blue. If it is firefox, is there a way to fix that? It used to work just fine.

okay........ I just tried it again and reset everything at work and it stayed with the green. I'll try it again tonight at home. Thanks for your help!

LOL! Well, I'd say you're welcome, but I really didn't do anything! :gaga

Glad you got it to work for you though! :friend

I did research it some today, and so far nobody has reported a similar problem. I'm pretty sure it is just on your computer's end, and not the forum.

I'm betting on it being a cookie problem. Clear your cache, cookies, temp internet files, history, everything. Then close everything, shut everything down and reboot. :thumbsup

Sorry to cause anyone disruptions, but the original default, Friends Blue, has been fixed and replaced.

I'm not sure if the change will disrupt those who already have that selected or not. If you prefer that skin, you may need to set it as your skin choice again in your UserCP as outlined in the first post.

If you do encounter problems, try setting it to a different skin first, then back to Friends Blue.

In addition, we have added a new fishing skin for our favorite fishermen! :gaga

Thanks ladies! :wave

It can be a bit hard to read in places. Like if the first post on the page is very wordy, the dark green font blends too well into the fish background. But I guess that's the price to pay. :lol

Poor Ferd!

I totally understand. I know it's hard to see changes, but these changes were necessary and long overdue.

Follow these instructions to make your skin choice permanent everytime you visit the forum:

Go to your UserCP> Settings & Options menu on left> Edit Options. Down at the very bottom is the Forum Skin choice drop down menu. Select the skin you'd like to use, and hit 'save changes' button at bottom.

If you had the default skin from before, it was Friends Blue.

The new friends blue is too large for my screen - - is that just me or do others have that problem too?

I have no idea why it would be. The only thing I changed on that skin is the background color.

I would try closing your browser, clearing your cache, and rebooting. :dunno
