Lord God, our Healer, we humbly bow before you right now asking you to touch Mrs Ferd and baby Jack. Make this a safe delivery and even as he is being born, we are asking, Father, that you would touch little Jack's heart and heal it. We place them both in your hands right this minute. We trust you for their safe keeping. And we know that you always want what is best for us because of your great love for us. In Jesus' name, Amen

DT,
I have a feeling that if we all lived closer, they would need a bigger waiting room :)

I just got off the phone with Ferd. They are doing well for now and are just waiting... I will talk with him again at 9 tonight and will update further if there is any change. for now here is what is going on... The baby has been diagnosed with Supraventricular Tachycardia... I will give discription after I say this... The difference in what Baby Jack has and what Levi had As Ferd said is with Levi it would start and stop and pretty much as if he faded out of it... but Baby Jack stayed in the rythm for a long time which is not good. There is actually a different name for the one Levi had but I forgot it as my brain and long words arent mixing well today.

I asked if there was a chance this was just a one time thing and he did say that it was the heart specialist doing the sonogram at the time it happened and he saw it and said yes that was the chance but Ferd knows for fact it was the prayers that turned this because Baby Jack was not fading out of the episode like Levi did... So please please continue to pray and they know the prayers are going up and are so very very thankful!

Supraventricular Tachycardia Overview

Supraventricular tachycardia is one type of heart rhythm disorder.

* Tachycardias are rhythm disorders in which the heart beats faster than normal.

* Supraventricular means "above the ventricles," in other words, originating from the atria, the upper chambers of the heart.

* Supraventricular tachycardia, then, is a rapid heartbeat originating in the atria.

* These are sometimes referred to as atrial tachycardias. However, the atrioventricular (AV) node may be involved directly or indirectly, so AV nodal tachycardias are also included in this category.

The heart consists of 4 chambers: 2 upper chambers called atria and 2 lower chambers called ventricles.

* The atria receive blood from blood vessels and contract to push blood into the ventricles.

* The ventricles then contract to push the blood out of the heart into the blood vessels of your lungs and the rest of your body.

* The heart usually beats 60-90 times a minute. A heart rate faster than 100 beats per minute is considered tachycardia.

Specialized heart cells coordinate the contractions by means of electrical signals.

* These specialized cells consist of the sinoatrial (SA) or sinus node in the right atrium and the AV node and the bundle of histidine (His) in the wall between the right and left ventricles.

* The SA node, the natural pacemaker of the heart, starts the electrical signals and transmits them to the AV node.

* The AV node then activates the bundle of His and its branches, resulting in contraction of the ventricles.

* The atria and ventricles contract in quick sequence. Each sequence is 1 heartbeat.

Nerve impulses and the level of hormones in your blood influence the rate of heart contraction. A problem in any of these areas can cause abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmia or dysrhythmia).

In supraventricular tachycardia, the heart rate is sped up by an abnormal electrical impulse starting in the atria.

* The heart beats so fast that the heart muscle cannot relax between contractions.

* When the chambers don't relax, they cannot contract strongly or fill with enough blood to satisfy the body's needs.

* Because of the ineffective contractions of the heart, the brain does not receive enough blood and oxygen. You can become light-headed, dizzy, or feel like fainting (syncope).

Supraventricular tachycardia can be found in healthy young children, in adolescents, and in people with underlying heart disease. Most people who experience it live a normal life without restrictions.

Supraventricular tachycardia often occurs in episodes with stretches of normal rhythm in between. This is usually referred to as paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (often abbreviated PSVT). Supraventricular tachycardia also may be chronic (ongoing, long term).

We made it thru the night with no bad heartbeats. now we are waiting on the Dr to come and see her.

looks like we move back to the regular room and check the baby's heartbeat every couple of hours.

if he gets another bad run, they will likely take the baby.

if not, we are on a 9 day countdown. at 34 weeks (9 more days) they will do a c section.

on another note (as if we dont have enough issues) Levi came down with strep.

I took him to the Dr. this morning and now I am waiting to find out if I am banned from the hospital.

Levi did see Melissa last night so please pray Melissa doesnt come down with strep too.

we can take what ever comes. God is in control but its getting stacked up on our shoulders.

Thanks for the prayer. I honestly believe that was the thing that stopped Jacks tachacardia yesterday. they moved her back to Labor and Delivery to monitor on better equipment right after finding out what was going on, and within 10 minutes of being hooked up (probably 30 minutes after prayers started) his heartrate went back to normal.

Sis. AG,

Isn't he beautiful! So precious! Glad you got to see him.

You are so right! I am so blessed and say so every chance

I get to proclaim His blessings.

When my late father was in his final days on this earth, he

would sit on the side of his bed and start singing a chorus that

he loved and believed.

"I am blessed, I am blessed;
Every day that I live, I am blessed.
When I wake up in the morning or
I lay my head to rest. I am blessed,
I am blessed!

And he really felt that way and so do I!

Thank You, Lord, for Your blessings to us all!

He does indeed believe God did intervene and knows that this will still probably have to be dealt with but at the same time they are keeping the faith that God could have just completely touched baby Jack and there will never been another episode. He will indeed be premature and have to be in NICU for a bit but this is expected and they are just pleased there have been no more episodes.

Jack has not had to have any help breathing at all, which is a real blessing. Thus far we have seen no evidence of the heart issue that we saw thursday which is an even bigger blessing.

Thank you all so very much for your prayer, God has blessed us so very much.

This is fantastic news, Ferd!!

When you get time - no pressure now, you understand, but when you do get some time - can you give us some details? What'd Jack weigh in at? How long? Is he gorgeous (of course he is!) We'll wait on pictures, because we understand that Melissa is the photographer in the family. but we'll wait anxiously :)

I did talk to Ferd today... about 5 seconds after he made his post... They are so thankful for the prayers. He was unable to read any replies really as he said he had just run home long enough to shower and change and head back to the hospital. I am sure he will read all soon and if he is unable to I will print this off whenever I go and visit so they can see the well wishes. He does indeed sound like a very excited and overjoyed new Daddy and oh so proud!!! And we are also so proud for them! God has indeed done a mighty work here and to God be the Glory!!!!!!

Im sorry I dont have much time to post. Things are starting to move to a new normal.

Melissa will come home tomorrow.

I spent last night at home with Levi. Sat. night he kind of melted down. He has been a trooper thru this but he has seen precious little of his mom and dad, and its wearing him out. he came to the hospital yesterday after church and stayed there with mom and dad until about 10pm last night when he and I came home.

Jack pooped yesterday! that was his big achievement. He is doing really well and the nurses are just amazed at how he is progressing.

He is tiny. last night he weighted 3 lbs 12 oz. the weight loss it typical and no cause for worry. he was actually about 75% the size of Levi who was 6 1/2 weeks early!

he did devlop a bit of a murmer yesterday but it appears to be this valve between the heart and lungs that closes at birth but can open again in premies. no cause for worry right now. just pray it closes. Levi did the same thing.

Jack is actually already trying to eat!

As for his heart, he hasnt presented with any irregular heart beats. we are hopefull that he simply wont. God has been very good to us.

Thanks all for your prayer.

And it doesn't stop there. I have two major concerns with the residents I work with.

1. Do you have pain?

2. Did you poop today?

Anything else is just small stuff....LOL!

I am not speaking for Ferd but I know when my son was in NICU they would NOT let us. Because of the fact that they know most parents do not want to see their kids all tubed up. However since he is now off the IV it might be different. Plus the fact that you would inevitably get one of the other babies in the pic they didnt let us for that reason either. But that was a diff hospital and so it may be different

We have picts. But Melissa is the Picture lady and she just got home last night.

she is still recovering from the C-Section and plus this morning is trying to get to the Hospital to see and hold Jack.

Hopefully late today or sometime tomorrow we will have some pictures.

believe me, we have pictures! I think we have about 150 picts already! LOL!

Different hospitals have different rules. Jeffrey was in NICU in Tulsa, and we were allowed to take all the pics/videos we wanted to from the very beginning. (Although we didn't really take that many, because we were busy just trying to touch him or hold him.) :)

I will say...when I look BACK at the photos of him with tubes everywhere it is a little heart wrenching, :tissue but I'm glad I have those first photos.
