As I lay me down to sleep...I love to think on the wonderful services and the places of reference in my life.
My 'Happy Place' is sunset on Clearwater Beach with the sound of the waves gently caressing the shore.
When I was a child and had scarey dreams the Lord spoke to me through His word about laying my head down and not having to fear as he would let me rest in sweet peace.
What do you think about as you lay your head down at night?

When we go to bed at night, I flip on my bedlight, grab whatever book I happen to be reading at the moment, and give Walt a backrub while I read my book. Then he does the same for me. That's our regular nightly ritual.
Nothing can put me to sleep better than that. Believe me, when Walt was in the ICU and then in the nursing home, it was harder than I ever thought it could be to go to sleep because he wasn't there to do our nightly backrubs :(

I lay down in my bed and say a prayer... then my next to oldest daughter who is here for the summer comes and climbs in bed with me and gives me a wonderful back rub (just began to be able to have her do this so its awesome!) then each of the kids come in and we each say a night time prayer together and they tell me if they have a concern about something that happened each day and then we each must leave the room by telling each other something we appreciate about each other.... then it sounds like a scene from the Waltons (on purpose because my son saw the show once and thought it was so cool lol) so we all say goodnight then off to sleep!

Been thinking of a song as I lay me down:
I love Him too much to fail Him now,
Too much to break my vow.
For I promised the Lord that I would make it somehow...
And now I love Him too much to fail Him now.
Blessed dreams,

I'm such a night owl by the time my head actually hits the pillow it's nearly instant sleep! If I am awake a few minutes I often sing choruses (silently....since hubby has usually been asleep for an hour or two).

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
Guard me Jesus through the night,
and wake me with the morning light.

Today I had a special blessing, two in the past two weeks to be exact. My left front tire kept losing air and the tires were only 18 months old. I bought them at Walmart and had the guarantee for tire rotation and wheel balancing with every oil change. Well, I took the car to Walmart for the oil change and asked them to check out the tire. They were short on staff and after an hour I went to check and they had just pulled the car in...so I went and had a bite to eat. I came back after another hour and they said they were done. I was rung up and they said, "$107.00". I said, "I don't think so, I only got an oil change for $26.00". The salesclerk told me they couldn't fix my tire and they put on a new one. I told them to call the manager. I explained to the manager that I had been in the store for over two hours and even came and checked on it once and no one told me that I needed a new tire or that they couldn't fix the one I had on there. The manager called the workers up and asked them if they had notified me that my tire was not reparable and they said, "No." The manager siad, "Well she just got a free tire". I walked out with and oil change, tires balanced and rotated and an $80.00 tire for free. Thank you Jesus!
Then today, I got home from church and checked my mail and there was a paper above the mailboxes saying there was a free queen size headboard and night stand. I called and they asked me which apartment I was in and they brought it over. It is a very nice walnut suite with a bookshelf in the headboard and it looks so nice in my room. They were moving and had a new bedroom suite and just wanted to give it away. Thank you Jesus.
The tide is turning and things are coming together for me. God is good.
Blessings, Rhoni
P.S. BTW, sleep will be sweet tonight. :)

J/K That wonderful, I love days like that, I went to a yard sale two weeks ago and the gal had brand new bamboo blinds still in the boxes never open. She bought them then decided she didn't want blinds and didn't want drive all the way back to the city.
At first I told her I'd pass because there was only one and I really needed two , one for a small window and a larger one , she like wait, within a second she comes out with a large one the right size 70x 40 the other was 40x60 a perfect fit. I really needed new blinds, I could not believe it I paid 2.00 for the small one and 7.00 for the large one, for brand new never out the box...I saved big time, because they were just like the ones I had up before I didn't need to do anything they hung right up! I bought my son bamboo blinds last summer, same brand paid 65.00 for the larger window 45 for the smaller one. I was so happy, it was a steal and blessing and can say they really did have my name on em...;)!

Today has been a very exciting day. We have been so swamped at work with Substance Abuse cases. I am sitting for two 4 hour exams in September and I forgot to mail one of three applications off. I called and was told if I get it in the mail/priority today that I could sit for the AAPS exam for the state of Kansas in September. I am also sitting for the LMFT Boards for two states, Kansas & Texas. I was granted a TLMFT for a year and a Substance Abuse Counselor Certification due to my experience and education.
I said all that to say...my brain is on overload. I can't just do one thing at a time...I am not happy unless I am stressed to the max...which is hilarious. I promise, I don't think I am normal...always trying to prove myself to a non-existent something, or someone.
So as I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my mind to keep...
If I should lose it before I wake,
I pray my life has been no mistake.
Forgive me Lord for getting upset at Rico and Michael Phelps. Help Rico to submit to a Pastor and grow where he is planted, and help Micheal Phelps to grow in God's maturity and grace.
Lord, I ask you make me more like you whether I am good enough to be a missionary like Sis. Alvear or not. Bless the Alvear's and give them many souls for their labor.
Bless my friends...such an easy prayer, and bless my enemies and help me not to be jealous.
Lord, if someone has to win the lottery - let it be me and I promise to give half of it to ministries at home and abroad.
Help me to lose 50# and I promise not to cut my hair ever again, although I will color it until I die.
Forgive those who have hurt me, and forgive me for those I have hurt.
Dear Lord, grant me favor with my employer, keep my car running, and give me strength for the day.
May I rest in peaceful sleep tonight.
In Jesus name I pray.
Amen.

The song that keeps arising in my mind as I lay myself down to sleep:
So many years, so many lambs were offered up,
But all the blood that was spilled could never fill that bitter cup.
Til one spotless lamb, in the form of man, gave his life on Calvary...
His was the only blood that could ever set me free.
And his blood was not just blood of another spotless lamb,
But his blood was precious blood, for it washed the sins of man.
And his blood healed my body and set my Spirit free,
No other blood but the blood Jesus shed for me.
Thank you Jesu for the shedding of your blood, for with it there would be no remission of my sins.
I give you praise and glory.
In Jesus name.

The Armor of God
Today's Scripture
Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm (Ephesians 6:13 NLT).
God has fully equipped you today with everything you need to stand strong in the midst of any battle you may be facing. He’s provided His full armor to protect your heart and mind. Ephesians 6:14-17, tells us about God’s spiritual armor that covers us—He’s given us the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith which stops the fiery darts of the enemy, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. When you receive God’s truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation and His Word, you are fully protected to resist the enemy and stand firm. Remember, God holds victory in store for the upright. As you put on His armor by faith you will be positioned to receive His victory. You will be strengthened and empowered to live as an overcomer in every area of your life!
A Prayer for Today
Father in heaven, thank You for equipping me with everything I need to live as an overcomer in this life. I receive your full armor knowing that with You I can stand and overcome every obstacle. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Dear Jesus,
It is almost midnight, I am tired, and I am content. You know the things that have been going over and over in my mind, and I pray that all those who are lonely, all those who are hurting, all those who think they have been misunderstood, or that they are right and others are wrong...that you will give them a divine encounter with destiny and let them know that, through you; they are forgiven, they are safe, and there is hope for restoration in individual lives, in families, in churches, and in communities.
Let your truth be established as we put on the whole armour of Christ.
I pray a special blessing on my children and my grandchildren.
In Jesus name,
AMEN.

Agreeing with Sis. Rhoni, in Jesus Name! When I wake up during
the night or wee hours of the morning, if I cannot go right back to
sleep, it is indication that I need to pray or someone is in need of
prayer. I ask the LORD to touch that one/ones that need prayer and
whatever it is they are needing, to provide it. My husband told me
he does the same thing. Sometimes we both wake up and we pray
together, agreeing as one. God is SO loving, kind and merciful to care
about His precious ones that He would wake up someone to stand in
the gap for them.

Tonight as I lay my head to sleep...I want to enter your gates with thanksgiving and enter your presence with praise. Lord, I thank you for my children, my grandchilden, my family, and my friends. I thank you for my job, my car, and a nice home to rest my weary body.
Lord, you are HOLY, and there is none like you. Shekina I thank you that the train of your victories fills this temple. I ask that you send your angels to watch over my Sammie & Tabbie and let them rest in your love, and know their Nana adores them. Dispatch your angels to my home also that they can protect my two nieces as they rest in their Aunt Rhondi's home.
I pray for my unborn grandchild that you would watch over him/her. May your grace shine upon him/her and may he/she be healthy and destined for great things.
Bless each and every service tomorrow as your people worship you all over the world. Give our missionaries many souls for their labor, keep them safe, and give them more than enough provisions.
Lord, your church needs you more today than they did yesterday. Please adorn us in the wedding garments you have prepared so that we may be presented to you a bride adorned for her husband. Thank you for redeeming us, and making us chaste, and holy as you are holy that you may present yourself a bride without spot or wrinkle.
Bless the widows, the fatherless, and the weak minded. Help those of us who can work, to have more than enough so we can bless those who have so much less. Help us to keep the main thing the main thing and keep us close to you...our Heavenly Father.
Jesus I need you more than life itself. You are the breath I breathe. Let your will be done in me as it is in heaven.
In the precious name of Jesus.
Amen and good night my King.
Your daughter and faithful subject,
Rhonda

Hey Sis,please say a prayer for me as well thank you.
Dear Jesus,
You know my friend Bro. Scott & his dear wife Alane...I ask that you give them wisdom, and open a door for work for Bro. Scott so that he can provide for his family as you have instructed all men to do. Lord, financial trouble is so much more acute when a family is involved.
Open a door of opportunity for Bro. Scott, and give rest to his dear wife, and more than enough provision for the children. Lord we also ask for the extended family...you know the transgenerational things that keep them bound. I ask that you break those chains, and save the souls of the extended family members.
Bless my dear friend and meet his needs according to your riches in heaven.
In Jesus precious name I pray,
AMEN.

I just had to share this praise report: I just went in and prayed for my neices and asked God to protect them through the night. As I prayed we heard a knock on the door...I never open the door. I said, "Who is it?". The man said, "I am your neighbor and I just wanted you to know your keys are in the door.". I opened the door and got my keys, thanked him, and shut the door...my Niece Jordan said, "Wow, God answered that prayer really fast - didn't he?"
Thank you Jesus.

Dear Jesus,
Heavenly Father...you are holy. There is no one like you. I thank you and praise you this day for life, breath, family, and friends. You have blessed me so much. I know I am your favorite...the apple of your eye.
Thank you for your broad shoulders, your comforting hug, and all the love you give me. You know I just eat it all up. I need it from you.
Just wanted you to know how much I love you. I ask that you send your angels to guard and protect me through the night...station one in every corner of my apartment and Jesus, would you look in on me tonight?
Thank you Jesus for adopting me...you wanted me.
Good night Jesus.

Dear Jesus,
You're so holy. Lord, you are so rightious, there is none like you. I thank you for being the Alpha, and the Omega, the first, and the last.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Lord your will be done in each of our lives.
This evening I am praying for a local Pastor's wife. There is no more hope for her in this life but her hope is and has always been in you. Carry her through where only You and she can go. Give strength and peace to her husband and children and be everything you have promised to be for them in this time of sorrow.
For the friend of mine who is searching for you, and doesn't understand about the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues...show yourself real to her as she prays...Thank you for the opportunity of our friendship, because there is purpose in everything we do and everyone we meet. Help us to be aware of divine appointments. Let all of your children, who are called by your name be conduits of the Holy Spirit. Use us for your glory.
Lord, I thank you for the healing you are sending in the life or our dear Sis. Alvear. Help her to get the rest she needs, and meet her every need. In Jesus name.
As I lay me down to sleep...please bless my family, keep your hand of protection on Samantha & Tabitha, and bless my children, friends, and church family. Lord. you know the special needs represented here: Nahkoe needs your help and you to move in a special way in her life and that of her children. Sometimes all we have is you...and that is enough.
Lord, bless the orphanage that is VY runs...let many children's lives be touched and many souls saved through her ministry. As Bro. Strange sets out on his journey into South America, go before him, open doors of opportunity for him to be used for your glory...that is his desire...to make a difference, even now. We never retire from your calling, which your word tells us is "without repentance".
For my co-worker who's mom is in critical condition, be with her and the family as they go through life's transitions. For my friend who takes care of her mother with Alzheimers, Lord they both belong to you. Give them both rest in their body, and give Mom peace in her mind. We trust and believe you will be there through every situation and your peace abide there.
Lord, there is much more for us to talk about...and we will, but for now...I thank you up front for all you are doing, and all the prayers you have answered.
I love you Jesus.
Good night.

I appreciate your thoughts but maybe there is a good reason for making it public. Have you ever thought about the many people that truly don't know how to pray that need an example?
Also, I don't know about your church or your prayer meetings...but most people I am around pray out loud when in a group. Also, we have many prayer requests that come across this forum and all we have is someone's "I'm praying"...are they really? Can you truly trust that? This way, when I say I am praying for you...you know it.
Dimples, I am not stupid and would not make public anything that has not already been made public on this forum...although I understand your concern. This is my night prayers which is better than threads of daily gossip, is it not?

This morning I got an e-mail from my dear friend Ruth Reider-Harvey who informed me that a mutual friend, Gloria Hodge had died at the beginning of this month 8/9/2008. This is the second one of our friends, another Jeff Owens, who had died many years after their near fatal car accident from complications from the car accident. Both of them were left paralyzed from the waist down and had been confined to a wheelchair for several decades.
I couldn't help but think about how it could have been me, and why God spared my life and also gave me use of my legs. I don't know why God spared me and I just wanted to say, Thank you Jesus.
I love you Jesus,

Mentality Makeover
Today's Scripture
“…Love others as you love yourself” (Galatians 5:14).
What you believe about yourself—your self-esteem, your sense of value, your sense of worth—sets the limits for your life. It sets the limits for your ability to love others the way God intends. The problem that many people have today is they don’t really even like themselves. They constantly focus on their faults and shortcomings and then wonder why they don’t enjoy life or have any enthusiasm or why their relationships aren’t working. Understand that you cannot be negative toward yourself and expect to live a positive, faith-filled life. In order to love yourself so that you can love others, you have to have a mentality makeover. If you’ll get your thinking corrected and start thinking like a champion, like a child of the Most High God, like you’ve been crowned with favor, you’ll be amazed at what will happen. When you change your mentality and allow thoughts of faith and victory to fill your heart and mind, that faith and victory will spill over onto the people around you. When you love yourself the way God loves you, that love will pour out on others as well. As you live and love the way God intends, you will find peace, joy, and victory in every area of your life!
A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, I open my heart to You today and ask that You help me see myself and others the way You do. Fill me with Your love and confidence so I can love others the way You intend. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

As I Close My Eyes (http://synadelfos.ning.com/profiles/blog/show?id=1950554%3ABlogPost%3A63639)
As I close my eyes in blissful sleep Your heart and soul I wish to keep. The twinkle in your eyes so blue I pledge my love and life to you. To kiss your dimples and touch your face With all my passion - I will embrace. If only wishes would come true; I'd spend my forever with only you. As I close my eyes in blissful sleep Your heart and soul I wish to keep.

This morning I felt to get up and turn of Creflo Dollar. He had the message I needed to hear. Many times I push, pull, fight, switch, manipulate, and try to control what I feel the passion and call of my heart, and where I feel the anointing is.
He said something that I believe and tried to explain on the missionary thread where I was so attacked. God knew you, had a destiny for you before you were born. He has gifted everyone of us with destiny and anointing [if you are child of God]. Those giftings and talents he gave us can be used under the anointing and out of the anointing but they are our gifts to use. They are much more fulfilling when used under His anointing.
The passion that I have received from God, that I do without thinking, that I don't need a platform to do...when I pray, seek the face of God, and allow God to set up the time, the when, the where...then when I get there...it will flow with no effort because I have been called for this time, this purpose, and will fulfill my destiny.
I said all this to say. I apologize for wandering aimlessly trying to find my place. I am standing now and praying and allowing God to do what he has to do in my life to prepare me for this destiny that I have struggled so hard to find in myself. I am letting go, and letting God.
In Jesus name,

DearLord,
Just wanted to thank you for keeping your hand upon my friend as she had surgery today. Getting old and having your body not keep up with your brain is such a difficult thing. We are born going through the process of dying. Life is over far too swiftly...it is a good thing we have a hope beyond this life or we of all men would be most miserable.
Dear Jesus, as I wade through the pharmacology, the treatment for substance abuse, and all the chemical reactions physiologically & psychologically...I am still amazed at how fearfully and wonderfully we are made. Help me to retain all the head knowledge I need to pass these two upcoming exams - a fulfillment of 8 years of hard work.
Just want to thank you again for sparing my life in 1991 and directing my path to this time and this place for your purpose.
In Jesus name,

Well, an update. I was 30 minutes early for my test, and the proctor was 45 minutes late. Another lady and I waited for the proctor to get there and then 20 minutes while she set up the computers.
The test was difficult. 200 questions and they give you 4 hours to complete the test. I am not sure of the scoring process, if some are more weighted than others or if it is based on %. If based on percentage then technically you can miss 40 questions and still have an 80%. I know I missed at least 5...I got back and looked up the answers. Truth is I knew more the street names than the official scientific name of the drugs and that messed me up.
Of course I took the absolute most difficult test so I wouldn't ever have to sit for another one...but I should have taken the easy one. I knew all the answers on ethics and counseling techniques but not the pharmocology that well...but I had been up since 4 a.m. studying so hopefully I passed.
The difficult thing is that you have to wait 6 weeks for the results. I was expecting a pass or fail immediately so now I have to worry about what I did and didn't miss and second guess myself for 6 weeks.
But...Sis Falla, Thank you so much for praying for me. I did stay focused and did the best I could.
Thank you Jesus.

I thank you for One Accord who listened to your voice in the quiet of last night that ministered to so many - including me. I thank you for this forum's owners, administrators, and moderators because the interaction on here, for the most part, is therapeutic and healing for many of us. I thank you for SteveP and his wife and what they are doing there in Tennessee. Bless them abundantly as they bless and help the hurting in their area.
Thank you for protecting all my friends through the storm: Esther, JimGriffin & his family, DanA & his family, PO, BillPrice, and all of the others who live there.
Dear Jesus...direct your children's paths. We are living in perilous but awesome times. Prepare us and make us ready for the fight. Help us to work together and not against each other.
Bless my children & grandchildren, Talk Lady, Blubayou, Nakoe & her children, CC1, Sherri, TimLan, St Mark, MP, Amos, Timmy, Bro. Strange, Vickie & Terri Yohe, and Phil Jones. Bless The Mrs, Mrs MCD, those hiding behind screen names who I have no clue who they are. Bless Pastor Poster, Dimples, SARAH, CASS, J-Rock & family, Ron, Bro. Blume, and all those I forgot just now. My brain is a bit fried right now, but I thank you for all you have done.
Keep your angels watching over my babies tonight, keep them safe from all evil, accidents, & harm.
All glory, honor, & power to your name. I ask all these things in your name...JESUS.
Good night Lord. AMEN.

Dear Sis. Rhoni,
No doubt this TOO shall pass! Lord God, grant that this too pass.
Perhaps it has to do with this stage/age of her life. Lord, I know it
didn't come to stay but came to pass. Thank You, Lord God for what
You can do, no matter the stage/age of our lives. YOU ARE the SAME!!
You know just what we need and when! Thank You for the HOPE we
have in YOU!
Roses will bloom again,
Just wait and see
Dont mourn what might have been
Only God knows how and when that
Roses will bloom again.

Sis. Falla, Thank you so much for the encouragement. Just wanted you to know that while I was waiting on our pictures from Nahkoe's homecoming...I met a lady who is undergoing cancer treatments and had a patch for pain, two heperin locks, and a port. She has brain cancer. As we talked I asked her name so we could pray for her. Her name is Lucy Phelps. She is so sweet...she asked me to write my name on a piece of paper so she could pray for me. She has brain cancer and she wanted to pray for me...talk about humbled.
Please pray for Lucy she has gone through quite a bit!

How precious! And indeed we will pray for Lucy Phelps.
Looking forward to seeing the pictures of our meeting

Peace, Be Still
Today's Scripture
“Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm” (Mark 4:39 NKJ).
What do you do when the storms of life seem to be raging against you? One time Jesus was with His disciples in a boat out on the water when they encountered a great storm. The disciples were very afraid, but Jesus on the other hand, was fast asleep. When the disciples woke Him up to see if He could help them, Jesus got up and simply spoke to the storm, “Peace! Be still.” And the seas were calm again.
When difficult times come, you don’t have to be overwhelmed by the waves of worry or fear. Just as Jesus stood up and spoke to the storm, you have power in your words, too. As a believer, the Bible tells us that the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you. That means God’s miracle-working power is on the inside of you. He’s given you His authority to declare peace over your home, over your mind, and over your family. Remember, no matter what storms may come against you, the Greater One lives on the inside of you, and He’ll empower you to live in victory in every area of your life!
A Prayer for Today
Father in heaven, thank You for filling me with Your Holy Spirit and for giving me Your authority here on the earth. Today I declare peace over every area of my life and thank You for working things out for my good. In Jesus’ Name.

This morning while in my devotions God gave me a lot of insight into the things happening in my life at this moment in time. There are friends who love you and think they know what is best for you but just like Job they tend to say the wrong things, that sometimes include:
1. You must have done something wrong...
2. Just repent...
3. Just humble yourself...
It is just like when someone dies and instead of saying nothing they say the wrong thing. It isn't that they mean to hurt you but it just wounds an already wounded person.
Yesterday, God gave me a name for my dream and gave me information to put it into a reality setting. The things that happen in one's life are not always good but according to Romans 8:28 - God has every intention of making them turn around for your good. Such it is with me. God is again filling my life with hope, possibilities, and restoring dreams.
I reiterate: Friends mean well, think they have the right "word', many times it adds to the pain and confusion. Like Job - one must keep the eye on what they know &
look to God for direction because the process is long and hard but the end result is the destiny God has always planned for one to have.
Have a Blessed day everyone.

I heard a sermon by Richard Ellis at Reunion Church in Dallas this morning. The title caught my attention. My granddaughter and I share a 'funny' about "Toe Jam". I thought I'd get a copy of it to give to her as only she and I could appreciate it's worth to us.
There are many things/lessons in the Bible that apply to every day life if we just open our minds, hearts, and understanding.

This morning I woke at 3: 30 a.m. with thoughts for my book that I had to get up and write. This is the year I will get this book completed. God impressed me to change one word in the title which makes all the difference.
Those who pray, continue to do so that God will give me the right words to say to help the majority of those who need what I have to say.
Today I heard a message called "The Mother of Pearl". It spoke of irritations that form within the shell of an oyster or another mullusk that causes a chemical release to protect itself. The build up of that chemical over time forms a beautiful and costly pearl.
I thank God for all the 'irritations' in life that have began forming pearls in my life. Just like Joseph - the things the devil meant to destroy me are the things which give me courage, strength, and shall ultimately be my salvation and that of others.
Have a blessed day,

Do Not Be Afraid
Today's Scripture
“…an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. ‘Joseph, son of David,’ the angel said, ‘do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit’” (Matthew 1:20, NLT).
Have you ever felt overwhelmed or even afraid of what God has called you to do? Maybe you were pursuing a dream or goal and things didn’t turn out the way you planned. Joseph had planned to take Mary as his wife, but when he found out she was pregnant, he didn’t know what to think. He was afraid that he was making a mistake because things didn’t turn out the way he thought they should. But God sent a messenger, an angel in a dream, to reassure Joseph and remind him that he was on the right path.
Friend, let me reassure you today, God knows right where you are, and He knows how to get you where you need to be. Even when things don’t go the way you planned, He has His hand on you. Do not be afraid, trust that God is working behind the scenes on your behalf and that He will lead you into the life of blessing that He has prepared for you!
A Prayer for Today
Father in heaven, I choose to trust in You. Even when things don’t go the way I planned, I know You are at work in my life. Thank You for Your perfect love which casts out all fear. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

It has been several years since I have felt at home in any church. I continue my personal devotions but I have no desire to be part of the churches in my area. I am not Charismatic, but not rigid/authoritarian, nor will I allow myself to be controlled and manipulated by men who have a God complex. I am too old, too tired, and too fed up with it all.

For prayer warriors everywhere: As I lay awake early this morning thinking about all the hardships/trials that have come my way in the past two years, and my responses to them...God gave me a word for all those who pray for others when, at times, they are unable to pray for themselves, Paul spoke of a similar situation in II Corinthians:
We do not want you to be uniformed, brothers, about the hardships we sufferred in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, so that we despaired even of life. Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves, but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On Him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.II Cor. 1:8-11.
The same God still has prayer warriors that go before us, to the sides of us and in back of us to protect us from the pressures, and perils we face as we are formed into the image of Christ. I am thankful for mine [armour bearers]. To God be all the glory for the things He is doing.

Rick Warren ( HE WROTE 'PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE')
You will enjoy the new insights that Rick Warren has, with his wife now having cancer and him having 'wealth' from the book sales. This is a short interview with Rick Warren, Purpose Driven Life author and pastor of Saddleback Church in California
In the interview by Paul Bradshaw with Rick Warren, Rick said:
People ask me, What is the purpose of life? And I respond: In a nutshell, life is preparation for eternity. We were not made to last forever r, and God wants us to be with Him in Heaven.
One day my heart is going to stop, and that will be the end of my body-- but not the end of me.
I may live 60 to 100 years on earth, but I am going to spend trillions of years in eternity. This is the warm-up act - the dress rehearsal. God wants us to practice on earth what we will do forever in eternity.
We were made by God and for God, and until you figure that out, life isn't going to make sense.
Life is a series of problems: Either you are in one now, you're just coming out of one, or you're getting ready to go into another one.
The reason for this is that God is more interested in your character than your comfort.
God is more interested in making your life holy than He is in making your life happy.
We can be reasonably happy here on earth, but that's not the goal of life. The goal is to grow in character, in Christ likeness.
This past year has been the greatest year of my life but also the toughest, with my wife, Kay, getting cancer.
I used to think that life was hills and valleys - you go through a dark time, then you go to the mountaintop, back and forth. I don't believe that anymore.
Rather than life being hills and valleys, I believe that it's kind of like two rails on a railroad track, and at all times you have something good and something bad in your life.
No matter how good things are in your life, there is always something bad that needs to be worked on.
And no matter how bad things are in your life, there is always something good you can thank God for.
You can focus on your purposes, or you can focus on your problems.
If you focus on your problems, you're going into self-centeredness, 'which is my problem, my issues, my pain.' But one of the easiest ways to get rid of pain is to get your focus off yourself and onto God and others.
We discovered quickly that in spite of the prayers of hundreds of thousands of people, God was not going to heal Ka y or make it easy for her.
It has been very difficult for her, and yet God has strengthened her character, given her a ministry of helping other people, given her a testimony, drawn her closer to Him and to people.
You have to learn to deal with both the good and the bad of life.
Actually, sometimes learning to deal with the good is harder. For instance, this past year, all of a sudden, when the book sold 15 million copies, it made me instantly very wealthy.
It also brought a lot of notoriety that I had never had to deal with before. I don't think God gives you money or notoriety for your own ego or for you to live a life of ease.
So I began to ask God what He wanted me to do with this money, notoriety and influence. He gave me two different passages that helped me decide what to do, II Corinthians 9 and Psalm 72.
First, in spite of all the money coming in, we would not change our lifestyle one bit. We made no major purchases.
Second, about midway through last year, I stopped taking a salary from the church.
Third, we set up foundations to fund an initiative we call The Peace Plan to plant churches, equip leaders, assist the poor, care for the sick, and educate the next generation.
Fourth, I added up all that the church had paid me in the 24 years since I started the church, and I gave it all back. It was liberating to be able to serve God for free.
We need to ask ourselves: Am I going to live for possessions? Popularity?
Am I going to be driven by pressures? Guilt? Bitterness? Materialism? Or am I going to be driven by God's purposes (for my life)?
When I get up in the morning, I sit on the side of my bed and say, God, if I don't get anything else done today, I want to know You more and love You better. God didn't put me on earth just to fulfill a to-do list. He's more interested in what I am than what I do.
That's why we're called human beings, not human doings.
Happy moments, PRAISE GOD.
Difficult moments, SEEK GOD.
Quiet moments, WORSHIP GOD.
Painful moments, TRUST GOD.
Every moment, THANK GOD.
Rhoni

Last night I woke up about 4:30 a.m. and just had to thank God for blessing me with a wonderful place to live. I have a very private condo, 1 large bedroom, and a custom built office. The L shaped living dining area has a brick fireplace that goes from floor to vaulted ceiling. I had put a log in the fireplace and sat down with a bowl of chili and sat and watched "Little Women" and felt so happy and at peace.
Jesus knows exactly what I needed and threw in a few wants too. Just wanted to say - Thank you Jesus for the special kiss of your spirit this morning.
Love you always,
Rhonda

Have a blessed day,
Rhoni
Sis. Rhoni,
The bolded spoke to me as I also have had many "irritations", trials and
testings along this journey of life. That seems to be a part of the journey.
Sometimes we see those along the road of life that it seems their lives
are filled with one trial after another. But if you read the stories of those
who stand out in the Word of God, it's not those who seemingly had an
easy road that encourages us along the way. Who do we remember the
most. It's the ones who endured those things listed in the heroes of faith,
listed in Hebrews 11. It's the Abel's, the Enoch's, the Noah's. Abraham,
Sara, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Rahab, Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jeph-
thae, David and Samuel. And many others who were went through great
trials, enduring cruel mockings and scourgings, etc., bonds and imprison-
ments. Some were stoned, sewn asunder, some were tempted, slain, they
wandered around in sheepskins, goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, and
tormented. The Word of God tells us of whom the world was not worthy.
They wandered in deserts, and mountains, and in dens and caves of the
earth.
These all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the
promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without
us should not be made perfect.
No doubt it takes the old AND the new. The law and the prophets AND
grace and truth. The OLD Covenant and the NEW Covenant.
It took Noah 120 yrs. to prepare a place for the saving of his family. I
wonder how long it took for God to prepare a place for HIS Creation (family).
Was it a literal 6 day week! Many things we do not know for sure, but God
has always prepared a "place" for His people. It started with an alter, then
a tent, later a temple, synagogues and then today we have individual houses
or churches to worship in. They didn't live there. They went there to worship,
and to hear the Word of God.
When the temple was destroyed, we became individual temples (dwelling place)
of the Lord. The Holy Ghost (Spirit of The departed One). He went away in body
that He might dwell in Spirit in each of us! We are the temple of the Living God.
He should dwell richly in each of our hearts.
Those who live to just go to the church building have missed the point I am afraid.
Those who have known the Lord for many years should go to help deliver the babies
that are "expected". Seeds of the Word have been sown, so there should be some
"babies" on the way. We need "spiritual" midwives. We need mothers in Zion! We
need fathers in Zion.
We need "watchers". Experienced grandparents who have been there and
know the "little foxes" that spoil the vine". Know what to look out for! We
are not ignorant of satan's divices. But many today don't want grandma and
grandpa around. They are "old fogey" and "slow". They don't know as much
as the young ones. We had better re-think some things today or we are
losing our young people to the world rapidly.
Yes, they come as children and received the Holy Ghost, like they should, but
let them get to young adulthood and they are out the door. We need the old,
we need the new. We need new babies in the Lord to bring us joy. He that goeth
forth with weeping, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoic-
ing, bringing his sheaves with him. Those sheaves should first be our own.
Then we can help others bring (garner) in their sheaves (families).

Sis. Falla, This reminds me of David...he said, I choose to dwell in God's temple all the days of his life, to behold the beauty of the Lord. We are God's temple and to live in His temple all the days of our life, to feast on His words, and to come into His holy place to worship is the air I breathe.
Thank you for sharing your tidbits of wisdom my life as well as all those you come in contact with. God is showing me things in His word that are a lamp to my feet and light to my path.
Last night around 4 a.m. I woke up to a dream about a baby learning to walk. God is trying to birth new and wonderful things and calls us to spiritual maturity so we can mentor others babies to do the same.
Have a Blessed day,
Love you much,

Profound words, Sis. Rhoni! The Apostle Paul told some people in a church
a long time ago, that what time they should be teachers, they still had need
that someone teach them. Back then Paul said the women needed to be quite.
He was teaching/mentoring men as a spiritual father.
The women were no doubt doing what I and many other women were doing
in earlier days of my life. Being a wife, having babies and taking care of the
home. That was very important. Paul was teaching the men how to
do their part. To love their wives as themselves, train up their children in the
way, etc., etc. Since Paul had no wife, perhaps he wouldn't have been
the best to teach on women. Evidently there was no woman available/qualified
to teach. Paul no doubt endeavored to do it by inspiration of the Holy Ghost.
The teaching had to start somewhere.
God raised up Paul to do it, in the churches. A spiritual father, as he wasn't
married. Not having a wife, perhaps there was no wife to teach the younger
women, but he laid out the principal. Had to start somewhere. Just as God
formed Adam from the dust and then took a part of him and created woman.
It had to start somewhere.
In the beginning, there was no woman to have a baby. God started with the
man but concluded that it was not good for man to be alone. Both men and
women are equally important in God's Plan. A team, labouring TOGETHER WITH
GOD. It was never intended to be the proverbial man, pulling his wife by the
hair into the cave. It was intended as a team, pulling the load (of family)
side by side. Never her, under his feet or anything else. Teamwork is done
side by side! Each in his or her place. That is where God took a part of Adam
and made for him an helpmate. Put her back where she came from and it will
be at Adam's side. That way there's no little u's and BIG I's!
Could it be the same reason I, as a woman, in my later years, am feeling the
need to teach others. Teach the things I did not understand/know back then.
We must need to have gone some places/experiences, in order to understand
and tell/teach others. You have been places/experiences I could never help
someone with, never having been there. I could help others with places you
could not, not having been there. Meanwhile, men could never help us in
areas pertaining to women as they have never been there and never will be.
I can't tell a man about a man and he can't tell me about a woman and child-
birth, etc., etc., and never could, not having been there, done that!
We cannot tell others about places/situations/experiences, where we have
not been. If we've only seen a picture of a place, or heard someone else tell
about it, it will not be as effective as having been there.
If we have never lost a child, spouse or other, we will not be as effective
in ministering to that one that has. We can be helpful in listening and offering
love and prayer. If we've never went through a divorce, we won't be the best
to offer help to that one that has. And other experiencs.
Just a few things I have learned through the years while observing and listen-
ing to my mentors. The rest I learned while listening to the Lord. The Word says
"All thy children shall be taught of the Lord". How? By the Holy
Ghost sent down from heaven.

Dear Sis,
The scriptures validate what you are feeling and saying. My mother-in-law and I spoke together at a Mother & Daughter Banquet regarding the roles/responsibilities of young women and the more mature women.
You are correct; when we are wives and mothers we have other responsibilities to take up our time, i.e., training children, keeping a home, and helping/supporting our husbands. For some of us - those days are over and now is the time to train/teach the young women their responsibilities, mentor others in ministry leadership and serving, praising & worshipping our God, and being a prayer warrior/armour bearer for those in the front lines of service.
God is good and has brought us over many a mountain, through many a valley, and has carried us many a mile when we did not have strength. There is much to share with others. You don't have to be a Pastor's wife, a counselor, or a Bible teach to encourge those who are depressed, uplift those who are discouraged, and to bind up the broken-hearted.
Like James and John, we can only speak of the things we have heard, seen, and gone through ourselves. Hopefully the things we have lived through are worth the pain as we are able to minister to others.
Love you sis,

Last night when I was fast asleep...I received two phone calls so I thought I had better get up and see what was going on. My sister was a bit anxious and told me to turn on the T.V. because a tornado was coming my way. I turned the T.V. on and sure enough...on HWY 121 between Flower Mound and Lewisville...was a storm brewing. the lightning flashed, the hail hit my skylite, the sky was dark, and the wind roaring...I sat int he hall and listned for about 15 minutes then I thought about it: If it is my time - nothing will stop it; I am going back to bed. I fell sound asleep and woke up to a beautiful sunshiney day:)
Gotta love a storm that rocks you to sleep!

Sis. Rhoni,
We also got word that a tornado was right over our city and the sirens were
going off. I had just prepared for bed when I got word so I got back into my
clothes, quoting scriptures and calling on the Lord. "Except the Lord keep the
city, the watchman waketh but in vain. Except the Lord keep the city, we
might as well keep sleeping. But I knew the Lord could and would keep the city.
He is the Master of the wind, the storm and HE knows exactly where I am. He
knows where all of His precious ones are.
This was not the first time this had happened and I had done the same thing. It
is so wonderful when you feel the peace of God that passeth all understanding,
keeping your heart and mind, through Christ Jesus. Calmness inside and just that
blessed assurance that there is someone bigger and more powerful that any storm.
I went out on my front porch and extended my arms and said, "Lord, KEEP our city,
keep our families, Keep our city, Keep the surrounding communities. The violent winds
never came, although there was some rain and lightening and thunder. But today once
again I know the KEEPER! He Keeps my soul, He keeps my heart and mind. What a

This morning 2/26/2009 I woke up with the book I had been reading on my mind. A good friend sent me a book by Max Lucado [my favorite author], Cure for the Common Life: Living in your Sweet Spot.
My mind wandered back through time when I was the happiest, most fulfilled, i.e., what I was doing, where I was doing it, and who was it about.
1. The first thing I remember is Bible Quizzing. I was known for my contesting the judges rulings. I was a stickler for details and had many decisions overturned by the judges because of definitions of words and their application. I was 'in my element' doing this. My sweet spot.
2. The next thing I remember was at JCM, my senior year. The senior class, of which my fiance/future husband was the Vice President, wanted to give a free scholarship to a young person from the Jackson Church and attach a certain amount of money to each of our school bills. When I stood up to express my disapproval and for the following reasons:
a. They had access to JCM activities without the financial strain, they lived at home, dated the guys/girls, and
b. Although may of my class were PK's who's DADDY's were footing the bill - I was among many working 2-3 jobs to pay my school bill and could not afford to support another person's school bill.
There was silence in the room, my fiance scrunched down in his seat and refused to look at me or stand up with me. But there was one man...who stood up and he agreed with me and added more points than what I had given and the tide turned, a vote was taken, and the proposition was voted down. I was in my element, my sweet spot.
3. While in a study group at Indiana Wesleyan University...I was leading the group and there was a 4 hour exam we had to pass to get our credentials to counsel. There were about 8 of us and a few in the study group had learning disabilities and needed extra help. I taught them and quizzed them as I would Bible Quizzers and reinforced the major points that needed applied. At the end of the group, the final night...one of the members came up to me and said, "You are truly a teacher, with a counselor's heart." I felt "in my element" in my sweet spot.
These things are running around in my head...and bringing tears of longing to my eyes. I miss my sweet spot.
Blessings, Rhoni

So Rhoni, with all the schooling you have and the counselling you are doing, what is it that you are missing in your life?
ILG,
What I am missing is friends and family who accept me with my gifts and flaws without wanting/expecting me to change to be like who they think I should be like.
I am so tired of twisting and turning myself into other's expectations and still coming up short of their expectations.
I need to get back into my sweet spot and stop caring about what others think about or of me and just be true to what God has called me to do and be what I am with no excuses.
People get depressed when they function outside of their own value system and try to please others. The only way I can make a difference is being me and being content with being me no matter what others think.
I write letters to communicate, and I stand up to what I consider injustice and unbiblical teachings. I need my strength back to stand up, not be afraid, and be who God called me to be.
Renda is right...I need to make a difference and I can't do that trying to be nice and non-committed.
Blessings, Rhoni

I need to get back into my sweet spot and stop caring about what others think about or of me and just be true to what God has called me to do and be what I am with no excuses.
People get depressed when they function outside of their own value system and try to please others. The only way I can make a difference is being me and being content with being me no matter what others think.
I write letters to communicate, and I stand up to what I consider injustice and unbiblical teachings. I need my strength back to stand up, not be afraid, and be who God called me to be.
Renda is right...I need to make a difference and I can't do that trying to be nice and non-committed.
Blessings, Rhoni
It is interesting what you say about trying to function outside of one's value system. I think it is sometimes very difficult defining what your value system is when before people defined it for you. But it is a good point.

You have a point here that I would like to discuss. I get so frustrated on this forum because people assume a lot about others, about myself, that is so far from the truth. These naysayers usually hold influence and intentionally, in my opinion, try to denegrate other's reputations, my reputation, for some reason. I think it would be worth their while to search their own motives and find out why it is so important to them to make me, and others like me look bad?
You are right that it is difficult to discern one's value system when others are defining it for you. I think they live dangerous lives in the sight of God.
Blessings to you ILG,

Well, instead of focusing on why others do what they do (and yes, they do do it), let's focus on what our value system is and how we can strengthen ourselves to live by it.
When I left the UPC, it was like leaving a culture. It was leaving a culture. This is a culture that defines your value system for you. There are many sub-cultures in the world and I think a key to surviving out here is not allowing any sub-culture or the larger culture to define your value system for you. I think we all struggle with this. Particularly, if you came from a dysfunctional upbringing, where your value system was, perhaps, wanting (understatement), you are leaving a culture to go to a complete unknown. This can be like stepping off a cliff. I sure wasn't going to go back to the culture I was raised in, personally. And I was leaving the only other culture I was familiar with. To struggle through all this and be called backslid and lost on top of it can be a challenge to say the least. You cannot jump on any bandwagon because there is no bandwagon that fits your value system. I love being me and not having to answer to anyone but me and God. This is very valuable. It is also very challenging as the winds of life and particularly the storms of life try to batter me down (as they do all of us). I have struggled with hope. Whereas I once had a great deal of hope, the enemy has tried to snatch it out of my fingers by battering me down. But what do we have if we don't have hope? We don't have anything. Beyond a dysfunctional upbringing, beyond alcoholism, beyond postpartum depression, beyond abuse, beyond legalism, beyond loss and grief, beyond cancer, I must have hope. Because if I don't have hope and faith in God I am lost and there is nothing left. Jesus disciples said to him when he asked them if they would leave too, "Where would we go?" And, where would we go? We have nothing beyond God and what He gives us. Hope for the future and life more abundantly.

ILG, This is very good. I have been studying the life of Christ in the gospels and I found that His struggles were/are very similar to mine. Twice in Matthew Christ spoke and said, "I desire mercy, not sacrifice" when confronted with His functioning outside the religious norm.
So many people compromise relationships and such thinking that the sacrifice they are offerring will in some way endear them to Jesus or earn a place in His favor. This is a sad thing, but how I was raised, and how I raised my children. This is not what Christ wants or expects.
Many times I think that the trials that befall me are my own fault but I see something different in The Gosples. When Jesus sent out the twelve dsiciples in the 10th chapter of Matthew he told them, "When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another."
There is much to be learned from the life of Christ. I have lived too long in the Pauline Epistles and need to take a closer look at the Life of Christ.

ILG,
When you look at our lives from Christ's standpoint; He came, lived among us, and died so that we can be freed from the dysfunctions/transgenerational curses of our familes, from emotional, physical, and spiritual abuse also.
Unlike others who belive we cannot live above sin/without sin, I believe that we have Christ's spirit within us giving us the power to live a life free from sin, free from addictions, free from abuse in all forms, and best of all He came that we could have life more abundantly, right here, right now...we don't have just a hope for the future but a hope for today.
I live iin that hope that Jesus wants me to be happy, fulfilled, and free to serve him as only I can serve and worship him. It is difficult sometimes to sort through the junk in our lives, past relationships, friends, and family to get to what Jesus really meant for us to have and experience while waiting to be changed to be completely like him.
Blessings, to you ILG!!!!

Thank you sweet sister. God has cautioned me to pray before posting because so many people are reading the threads here on AFF. Our lives are open books that are known and read by all. I hope ministry still speaks through me. That is all I have ever known, and all I want...to be used by God.

I was thinking last night on how I would counsel an individual with Spiritual PTSD.
The symptoms would be similar to Post traumatic stress disorder from abuse of any type.
* The 'startle reflex' when someone comes into your private space
* Resistance to perceived manipulation & control
* High levels of anxiety
* Mistrust
* Intrusive thoughts that keep you less focused on your responsibilities
* Lack of pleasure in things that once brought pleasure.
Just thinking about it:)

I write a devotional called Daily God Walk - here is an excerpt from today's devotional:
If our inner peace is determined by whether others approve of us then we will always be trying to look and act in a way that is pleasing to others. Having that concern produces anxiety and destroys our inner peace. We cannot be anxious about how others accept us and maintain a quiet, peace inner person.

Thank you. It was a good devotional. I read several others. Being raised ACOA, I find that trying to please everyone a habit that is diffiucult to break - but I am determined. I have to take a break from introspection or else I would go crazy. I figure that God doesn't make mistakes and he made me the way I am to accomplish a purpose in me, through me, for himself.
Thank you for posting and giving me a scriptural devotion. We had an awesome House Church last night. Dr. Elizabeth Vaughn spoke and she spoke into the lives of many.

Take Your Medicine
Today's Scripture
"A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones" (Proverbs 17:22, AMP).
So many people today live with sickness, headaches, digestive problems, lack of energy and so much more because they don't have the joy they should. They aren't sleeping well at night and are living under so much stress and pressure. But the Bible tells us that when we are happy and joyful, it's like medicine to our bodies. One of the greatest stress relievers God has given us is the gift of laughter. It not only makes you feel better, but it actually releases healing throughout your system. In fact, medical science tells us that when people laugh, it boosts their immune system. It reduces blood pressure. People who laugh regularly are 40% less likely to have a heart attack than people that don't laugh regularly. Laughter triggers the right side of the brain, which helps release creativity so we can make better decisions. Laughter activates the body's natural tranquilizers that not only help us calm down, but it helps us sleep better.
If you need to rejuvenate your mind and body, it's time to take your medicine! Make time to laugh every single day. Don't take yourself so seriously. When you approach life with a happy, light-hearted attitude, you'll begin to rise higher and higher into the life of health and blessing the Lord has in store for you.
A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of laughter. Help me to see the joy in all circumstances so I can receive Your inner healing. Show me ways to help those around me so together we can live in Your joy and strength. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Last Saturday I had the privilege of meeting and talking with a missionary to China. She sent me this is the mail yesterday:
The Secret to Opening a Rose
Once a little boy was trying to open a flower bud. Under his persistent efforts the blossom fell apart in his hands. Exasperated, he looked at his mother and asked, "Why does the bud fall apart when I try to open it, but when God opens it the flower is beautiful?"...Then he answers his own question, "Oh, I know! When God opens the flower, he opens it from the inside."
That story demonstrates the difference between being conformed and being transformed. The former forces someone's personhood or a group's identity from the outside. The latter opens up the individual or the community from the inside. The difference in results is dramatic. When God opens persons from the inside, they can be uniquely gifted individuals they were created to be, revealing dimensions of God's grace in a particualr combination that no one else can. ---Marva J. This am I talked with a friend who was going through things with her children. She was saying how that she could never win with hers. Her married daughter with several children asked her if she even loved them and wanted to spend time with them. She said that she saw more of her father his wife. My friend said she was dumbfounded. She was single, had raised the children alone with minimal child support and now was working to support her retirement and pay her house note.
She told her daughter [who is a stay at home mom] that she never called to say, "Would you like to stop over for breakfast before work, or Can I go over and clean your house for you because you are working so hard, or can you and I go to dinner and just talk?" My friend said, "The only time you want me is to ask me to babysit or ask me for money." And you ask me if I love you...do you love me?
We spoil our children and they still want more from us and then have the audacity to ask..."Do you love me."
Children these days. I only said, "Yes, I know the feeling." We took care of them when they were being raised but who will take care of us when we are no longer able to take care of ourselves?" This isn't what Solomon said would happen.

Many people think I am mad at them and have sent apologies. This is not the case. Many of you are cyber friends and do not have relationship with me to respect your opinion or advice toward me. Those who I consider friends have no business calling me out publically because it affects the way others see me and it is all your perception and may not be the entire truth.
I am not going to post for a while not go to "The Gathering", as it is not time for this in my life. Last night God have me the introduction to my book and I need to block out any voices that do not belong to him.
There are no grudges for me to hold and I am taking a much needed sabbatical to pursue God and his anointing and blessing on my life. There is a season for everything and now is my season.

Sis. Rhoni,
Yesterday, looking over some old threads I had posted, I ran across this
thread, posted one year ago today! I had referred to a post Berkeley had
posted in 2007.
http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com/showthread.php?t=15074.
After I wrote that post 3-7-07, we attended my 50th class reunion in Sept.07.
We lost our first sibling, a brother, the morning after the 50th reunion. I had
stood the night before and thanked God that HE had allow all of our class-
mates to still be alive afte 50 yrs. (All are still alive). I also mentioned that I
thanked God that all of we eleven siblings were still alive after 50 yrs. The
next morning (Sun.) we received word our brother had passed away a short time
before.
In Nov. 2008, we had our 50th Anniv. of the church our parents founded in
1958. They honored me for being church secretary from the beginning. 50 yrs.
Now am into my 51st year. Now the one other event that I had mentioned in
the post was that in 2009 we would celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary.
This is being planned by our children!!
God has been SO good to our family. We have been SO blessed in SO many
ways. I know HE has been SO good to others, but I just like to count my

Exodus 1:6-8 NIV: Now Joseph and all his brothers and all that generation died, but the Israelites were fruitful and multiplied greatly and became exceedingly numerous, so that the land was filled with them. Then a new King, who did not know about Joseph, came into power in Egypt.
The new Pharoah felt threatened when he looked at the number of Israelites in Egypt compared to the number of Egyptians and surmised that if an uprising happened that the Egyptians would be overpowered by the Israelites. To deal with this perceived threat he implemented two things: 1. He ordered for slave masters to be put over the Israelites to oppress them into forced labor to build two treasure cities for Pharoah , Pithon and Ramese, and 2. He commanded two Hebrew midwivess to kill any male children born to Israelite women.
Thank God for two women who feared God more than the wrath of Pharoah and allowed the male children to live. Because the Pharoah could not control the birth of male children in this area, he insitued a third order; “Every boy that is born to you must be thrown into the Nile, but let every girl live.” Exodus 1:22 NIV.
During this time of practiced male infanticide, a levite woman, married to a man from the tribe of Levi, gave birth to a son. Jochabed was a praying woman and when she beheld her son she saw purpose in him and hid him until she could no longer, and found a basket made of papyrus and pitched it within and without with tar making it waterproof and instructed her daughter to put the baby child Moses in the Nile river and to watch and see what would become of him.
No one but God could have so perfectly orchestrated what God would do, not only to preserve Moses’ life, but to prepare him for his destiny. The daughter of Pharoah just happened to be taking a bath in the Nile river when she saw the basket and looked into it. She saw Moses and knew he was an Israelite baby but she loved him and took him into her home. Moses sister Meriam volunteered to find a wetnurse to nurse the baby and God so carefully placed Moses back into his mother’s arms to nurse at her breast, and be taught of the one true God of Israel.
God has a way of taking what the devil meant to harm or destroy a person, keep them bound, and oppressed, and brings deliverance right in the presence of the enemy. In this case he allowed the deliverer of the Israelites to be tutored in the higher education of the Egyptians, and in their traditions, raised as royalty as the grandson of Pharoah himself. What a God we serve! All praise and glory belong to Him.

Now, you would think that Moses looking back on all God has done to preserve his life that Moses would trust God more than the arm of his flesh. The scriptures tell us that when Moses was grown he chose to leave Pharoah’s home and to align himself with the God’s people, the Isrealites.. The first thing Moses did was to observe an Egyptian beating an Israelite. Moses was furious and looked around to see if anyone was watching him, and when he felt safe that he was not being observed, he slew the Egyptian and buried him in the sand. He knowingly committed a murder.
Moses is not so different than you and I who are called to a higher purpose and often find themselves fallen into a pit of their own making. The devil uses the shame over the deliberate sin, as well as the continuous projected shame from family and friends to keep us in that pit of self-shame; just like the Israelite men, when Moses asked them why they were fighting among themselves, threw it back in Moses’ face and asked him if he was going to kill them as he had done to the Egyptian. How could Moses minister or deliver a people who would never respect him for the past sin he committed which God had forgiven him from? The devil uses this lie every day to tell those who are called of God that they are somehow unworthy, broken, and unuseable to help anyone else out of their pit. This is a lie of the devil.
Moses, like you and I, had difficulty dealing with his “issues”. We walk around pretending to be healed; pretending that we, and those around us truly understand the mercy, the forgiveness, and the grace of God while we harbor deep rooted shame that leads us to justify ineffective ministry, and to give multiple excuses as to why we have no power, or cannot fulfill the destiny God has planned for us because we are so unworthy.
When God pointed out to Moses the plight of the Israelites, He told Moses, “So now, go. I am sending you to Pharoah to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:10 NIV. After Moses had had a ‘burning bush experience’ with God Himself affirming His anointing on Moses; Moses’ shame and inadequacies he felt caused him to say to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharoah, and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” Exodus 3:11 NIV. Moses, like you and I do sometimes went on to tell God how unworthy and inable to do what God has called us to do we really are. We are so arrogant to think we know better than God, aren’t we?
Exodus 4:14 NIV tells us that when Moses told God to send someone else – God got angry with Moses. Even in God’s anger he gave Moses a crutch, or support by allowing Moses’ brother Aaron to speak, or interpret for him before Pharoah. The ironic thing though was that each time Moses went before Pharoah, God’s anointing fell and Moses did the speaking with power and authority as Aaron stood in the background.
You might ask, “What does this have to do with me in my situation?” Is there 1 thing in your life that you have done? Something you have done knowingly that is buried deep in your soul, your mind, your heart that affects your very personality that goes beyond surface quilt, to the point of shame? Do those who know consistently throw it back in your face to remind you how unworthy you are? Do you stutter and make excuses for not being all God meant you to be? Does the wound have a scab on it that

others or you yourself purposely or even accidently scrape off until the wound is open and bleeding again?
For 5 years I worked as Social Service Director in a Sub-Acute Rehabilitation unit. People who are not mobile due to injury, disease, or old age often develop decubitus ulcers, or what are know as bed sores. When they are first observed a salve is put on them to heal them and the skin grows back over them but the patient doesn’t seem to get any better. They are put on a turn schedule of every two hours but sometimes a fever develops and delirium sets in. Although the outward appearance seems ‘healed’ a Physician will know that infection is still there due to the symptoms. The only cure for this is massive doses of IV antibiotics, and debreedment of the sore. The patient doesn’t like this nor the Physician and nurses that have to do it. The sore has to be lanced open, the infection, puss if you would, has to be cleaned out and gauze stuffed down into the wound. Just about the time the skin tries to close up, the nurse or Doctor comes back and rips the gauze out taking the infected skin cells out again and again until the wound heals on the inside, and only then will the Doctor allow the skin to heal up over the wound. The only thing left is a scar that cannot be ripped open again because the infection is gone.
Many of us have grown up looking the part, acting the part, and ‘doing’ religious activities, but just under the surface is: backbiting, jealousies, gossip, hatred, unforgiveness, fornication, adultery, rebellion, and even, like Moses, murder. In therapeutic terms:
Acting like there is nothing wrong is what we therapists term, Denial.
Not consciously realizing something has to be taken care of is called, REPRESSION.
Knowing something is wrong but not wanting to there or take care of it is called, SUPPRESSION.
Blaming someone or something else is called, PROJECTION,
And, reacting in anger or bitterness is Reactive Formation.
Healing calls for a “coming to Jesus” time. Repentance constitutes cleansing. Setting boundaries with the devil and well meaning, and sometimes intentionally cruel family and friends is absolutely necessary. When God forgives – He forgets it and places it in the sea of forgetfulness and you are clean and holy. When the devil in your psyche, or the voices of your friends & family bring these “issues” back up – remind them that the healing has happened and the scar marks the spot.
The Bible tells us that Moses was 80 years old when he finally went to Pharoah resulting in deliverance for the people of Israel, Exodus 7:6 NIV. What this means for you and I is this: Philippians 1:6 NIV: Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it to completion until the day of Jesus Christ. Those of you who have wasted 10 minutes, 10 years, 30, or 50 or more years…it is time to give it up. If you want healing from your “issues” and want to give the devil a black eye; Don’t bring Jesus your excuses, denials, or justifications. Bring Jesus honesty. Let the word

This Thursday I am taking my LCMFT exam to go into private practice. I am prepared, prayed up, and God has granted me an open door. I am speaking July 11, and then going to SIS. Falla's 50th wedding anniversary party! I am blessed and honored.
Can't sleep because I am so excited about all this, my trip to New York to spend a week with my sisters, and a week in Boise Idaho with my friends [chosen family].
God is good.

Just got back yesterday morning from New York. It was a wonderful time of sisterhood. We celebrated the second Cyprus sister to turn 50. We have so much to be thankful for. Two of the three of us on the trip have come face to face with death but God performed miracles and we are here to celebrate.
The walking was...too much for me. I walked three days and then took a cab the next two. We found shopping, eating, and shows to be fabulous.
Thank you all for prayers and well wishes.

We wanted to see WICKED, but it was sold out. We saw 9-5. I liked the movie better but that was what my sister wanted to see. I wanted to see West Side Story.
So those of you who don't believe in movies...I do not apologize for my freedom:) LOL:ursofunny:ursofunny

Just got back from Boise, ID and the open house for Jewel Yadon-Dillon was awesome. There were approx 300 guests and the response for cards and letters was fantastic.
I enjoyed spending time with new and old friends and watch how God has been so good to this family. Like Sis. Falla - the heritage here was beautiful to see.

This has been a wonderful weekend.:) It began with attending an Anniversary reception for our dear Bro & Sis Falla, and meeting up with special friends that only the will of God could have orchestrated.
This was followed by my speaking at the House Church and God's anointing was with me and it felt good. God ministered to many people.
From there I went to Sunday morning service and God moved in a special way and many Muslims attended and came to the altar to pray and one young woman was filled with the Holy Ghost and converted. I had to dance a jig over in the corner and rejoice in the Lord for all His blessings this week.
After service I went out to eat with friends and later that night I had the privilege of joining 7 UPCI ministry couples and enjoying sweet fellowship as we ate at Babe's.
Tomorrow I am going with a UPCI minister to meet with the Chaplain and parole Board in the city I live to meet and add some private practice services to my counseling responsibilities.
Sleeping was peaceful and restful. I woke up with my mind stayed on Jesus!!!!
To God be the Glory!

Last night I had a disturbing dream about a long time friend of mine. I am praying that God will give the strength to overcome the spirits that so easily attach themselves to us.
There are some strongholds that we battle for a lifetime and if we just remember that "greater is HE that is in us than he that is in the world".
God I pray your protection, mercy, amd strength for my friend.

Yesterday I took a Community Service Day from work and met with the Chaplain for the Ladies jail in Denton County. I am going to do some volunteer work for spiritual counseling with the women in the jail. The Chaplain said they need someone who can meet this need with them. I have to take a TB test and do all the paperwork but this is an open door that I am walking through.
Mom always says that "Your life can change within 24 hours", and such it has. I have a private practice, an office at a local counseling center, and clients. I met with some very influential people yesterday and am already receiving referrrals.
Now my dreams are again filled with golas and Christian service.
Sweet dreams,

Sis. Falla,
I totally agree with you! I made a conscious choice not to affiliate myself with a church or practice in a church so as not to be put in the position of answering to unsupportive leadership or those ignorant to the boundaries, ethical considerations regarding confidentiality, ect.
I have my own office, malpractice insurance, and will take referrals from area Pastors but will not be under their influence or control. My business is separate from my church membership and then there will be no conflict of interest on either side.

Last night I got very little sleep. I was thinking about an e-mail I received from a long time friend. The title was "Free at LAST" and how she was embracing the homosexual lifestyle after trying to deny it for years and how God had released her from feeling guilty or bound. She had found a church that would accept her as she is.
My concerns were:
1. God can not lie and his word speaks clearly about sexual sins, homosexuality being one of them,
2. That she used God gave me authorization to justify my sinful behavior, which again God cannot do because He and His word are one and the same.
3. I thought of the craftiness of satan in allowing her to feel most free when she is indeed most bound by a sin that will destroy her now and for eternity.
My answer to her was that I still love her and will continue to pray for her. She has struggled with this sin for years as we all have things we struggle with.
My prayer is that she not become so callous to the true voice of God that she can't find her way back to repentance and right thinking.
Join with me in prayer for her.
