With all this talk of Alter Egos and such, it has got me thinking. I guess I take everyone at face value, because I represent myself honestly. I cannot imagine coming on here and intentionally misleading people...
But I digress....
So here is my idea, If I had an alter ego (and I could feel comfortable putting it out there... which I really don't but for the sake of the game I will....) what would she be? Would she even be a she?
I am going to think on it and get back to you....
What about you? If you were to make up an alter ego, what would they be?
This could get fun!

I had an Alter ego once... when I was a DJ for a Gospel Music radio station. I was....
Rick Allen
...THE voice of that Good Ol' Gospel Music!
I was this Cool guy that always... but ALWAYs played "the very best in Southern Gospel Music". I was well liked, in demand, and was personally accquainted with some of the biggest of the Big Gospel Music groups around.
Alas, however, the facade was too great for me. The image crumbled... and now... I am, and shall ever remain known as, "Rick Who?????

I don't know if I should laugh or cry OA. Your story is touching yet humorous. Maybe your alter ego could be a sad comedian.................:tease

Banned. Simply banned.
Hey One Accord,
For a brief period of time, I too had my own radio show on WPRK-- Winter Park's "underground radio station". My show was about 3 hours, early Sunday mornings, between a Hard Rock show and a World Beats show. I featured an uncommon mixture of Black Gospel and Contemporary Christian music.
Artists like Joe Pace, Avalon and DC Talk got air time almost every week on my show. I even played some Eric Appleton.
I was on the air for several months and it was a dream come true. But when 9/11 happened, I was called up for service and was unable to keep my show on the air.

I was on a super low power AM station in East Tennessee. You could pick it up pretty good, if you were parked in the station parking lot. Well, it wasn't quite that bad...
Our station manager would have had a cow if we played anything even remotely contempoary ( I can't even spell the word) and he, and he alone was the sole judge and jury of what is and what is not contemporary. The Imperials were banned. Rusty Goodman (pre 1970) was okay, Rusty Goodman (post 1970) was not. Rustys "I've got leaving on my mind" was too much like a "cheatin' country" song according to the station manager and was therefore banned from the playlist. We had to play songs from an ancient and scratched album that sounded rusty. No, not Rusty as in Rusty Goodman... just... rusty. It was an album of an old quartet (and I use that term loosely) from the station managers own church. Awful with a captital AWF (the album, not the church, lest I be accused of referring to a church as awful). He refused an ad from a well known car dealership because it had a rock and roll song on it. I don't remember who the singer was, probably one of those godless beatnik types... like...like....Ricky Nelson.

If I remember correctly, the only stuff I could not play were actual sermons.
The radio station was not Christian and would not allow its liberal reputation to be tarnished by supporting one (or any whatsoever) religion in particular. It was difficult just to get my show on there.

Kinda off subject, but the name Ricky Nelson reminded me of how Bro. William Branham thought Ricky Nelson was one of Americas greatest evil influences. Ricky, (yes, of Ozzie and Harriet fame) ranked right down there with the likes of Elvis and Lucille Ball. Bro. Branham referred to kids who got in trouble as gum popping "Little Rickys". (Girls were "Rickettes"). He told the members of his church to never name one of their children "Ricky", which, according to Bro. Branham, meant "a rat". Course, growing up, my name was Ricky so you know where that put me. (No wonder I've always had a inferiority complex... and always liked cheese!)
I always wondered why he was so down on Ricky Nelson- I was always under the impression that Ricky Nelson was squiky clean.

Now THAT is an intriguing thought! Much like the authors of one gender who write under a nomme de plume that implies they are members of the OPPOSITE gender than they really are!
This is most interesting! AND here is the KICKER! This ***IS*** my alter ego, one made to give me the ability to speak honestly and openly and keep my ministry safe from the sharks circling us in the waters from time to time.

How fitting for a therapist!
Maybe Rhoni isn't her real name, maybe she isn't a therapist... She came up with this alter ego while driving down the road in her convertible with top down, listening to the 60's station and she heard the lyrics...
"Help me Rhonda, yeah... Get her out of my heart"
and she thought.... "hmmm a counselor could do that, that will be my ALTER EGO a, counselor who helps the love-lorn" just call 1-800-Rhoni-Luv (she would have used Rhonda, but it wouldn't work for the phone number) :ursofunny
