Does Anybody Hear Her
------Casting Crowns
She is running
A hundred miles an hour in the wrong direction
She is trying
But the canyon's ever widening
In the depths of her cold heart
So she sets out on another misadventure just to find
She's another two years older
And she's three more steps behind
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she's going down today
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
She is yearning
For shelter and affection
That she never found at home
She is searching
For a hero to ride in
To ride in and save the day
And in walks her prince charming
And he knows just what to say
Momentary lapse of reason
And she gives herself away
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she's going down today
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
If judgment looms under every steeple
If lofty glances from lofty people
Can't see past her scarlet letter
And we never even met her
If judgment looms under every steeple
If lofty glances from lofty people
Can't see past her scarlet letter
And we never even met her
Never even met her
Does anybody hear her? Does anybody see?
Or does anybody even knows she's going down today
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Does anybody see?
Does anybody even know she's going down today?
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Does anybody see?

Oh yeah. Love the song. I like alot of casting crowns songs. They are usually more ballad type songs with a story line.
I listen to American Family Radio and they play them alot on that station

Fonix,
Our local station plays them a lot here in Dallas also. I hear Phillips, Craig, and Dean a lot here also. Kind of gives me the warm and fuzzies since Dan Dean was my piano teacher at JCM. I am happy for his success.

I went and saw PCD in concert many moons ago. Like 15 yrs ago. I have alot of there CD's
My son just went and saw Big Daddy Weave. He said they were very good. With a name like that many might think they were rockers but they arent at all not even close.

I really like many of Casting Crowns songs... I know the one that was shown here and like it as well.
I don't see their songs as cynical myself. I see their songs as challenges to the church. I see them as eye opening & soul searching.
I think they do a great job of writing songs that really made us think about our approach to the world.

I agree Digging4Truth. The song posted was one in which it is appealing to the church to look outside itself and see there is a hurting world out there. They are dying lost and alone right under our noses.
Blessings, Rhoni
P.S. The video shows a woman and her daughter going into the church and looking down at the woman searching for hope...this is sad.

As many times as I have heard this song... today is the first time I have seen the video... When the girl finally sat down with her at the end of the video I just busted out crying... MAN... So many people out there hurting in so many ways and we have the answer.
Reminds of the VERY old song that said "We've got to seek out the dry and arid places and stop this hauling water to the sea"

I love this one:
Casting Crowns
Praise You In This Storm
I was sure by now
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say “Amen”, and it’s still raining
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as You mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
I’ll praise You in this storm
And I will life my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I’ve cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry
You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can’t find You
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth

Yeah I like that song too... here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ji2rLXr3cEU&mode=related&search=) is a pretty good video that someone made from the song.
It reminds me of a Matt Redman song we like to sing in the van.
Blessed be Your name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name
And blessed be Your name
When I’m found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be your name
Every blessing You pour out I’ll
Turn back to praise
And when the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name
Blessed be Your name
When the sun’s shining down on me
When the world’s “all as it should be”
Blessed be You name
And blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there’s pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name
You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name
I will bless Your name

We had a lady come to our church and sing this song one night. She said she had no idea why she felt to sing this song, She sang for me. She had no idea I was battling so hard and the Lord sent her two hours to our church to sing this song for me.
Needless to say, I LOVE that song. It really ministered to me at a time when I needed it the most.

Don't you just love it when people are sensitive to the spirit? God uses people, things, whatever he chooses to minister to those who love Him. Sis. CS, I hope things are looking better for you today!:friend

Seg,
In the secular world, sex sells.
In the religious world, criticism sells.
If you can establish yourself as a critic of the Church, you have carved out a place for yourself among the mighties.:)
Certainly I believe there are a lot of things the Church could do better, but when I see someone or some ministry whose consistent theme is picking at the Church, it turns me off.
Having said that, I do like the song "I Will Praise You in This Storm."

His observation was made specifically about Casting Crowns and your post was in agreement to his post. It is a fair assumption to tie your post to Casting Crowns.
But... accepting that you were not speaking of Casting Crowns...
What songs have you seen that sell so well because of their critical message?

My comments were not about songs only or even specifically.
Read the post again.
I simply used his comment as a springboard to make the observation that it is currently popular to set oneself up as a critic of the church.

Alright...
While criticism might sell... from the con to the lib... from the pulpit to the pew..
I will go on record as saying I see no critical spirit in the songs that Casting Crowns and many other similar artists. I also believe that, from songs to sermons, messages that challenge the soul do also sell and, as always, one mans challenge is another mans criticism.

Gone is the curse the devil meant to destroy each one of us, and praises to the great I AM. Because of the resurrected Christ, you and I can live in the light of the risen lamb!
Have a wonderfully blessed Resurrection Sunday knowing what Christ did has given all of us hope.

BTW, Casting Crowns were discovered by doing college ministry. Their entire band is a worship team/youth pastor from Florida and one of their kids was a basketball player from the local college. He loved his pastor and the band's music. At a basketball camp he met the drummer from the country band, "Sawyer Brown". He gave him a tape and the rest is history.
Pastor Mark has been very generous to youth groups and pastors even with all of his success...he shares resources, ideas, and money.
These are great people and a wonderful band.
