Ok I get a call from my mother today telling me about her nephew who has lost 50 lbs .... I call his wife and talk to her and she loves the products.
This is my question... it appears to be a big seller in churchs right now so anyone taken any of these products and how did they work for you? or are they just like everything else a waste of money and time?

Are those sold using the pyramid scheme, or can you purchase in stores?

Go to this site and click on the advertisement

http://www.apostolicherald.com/archives/december_04_body.htm

It is a multi level plan and many at the POA (both in Alexandria and Orlando) have been involved and made lots of money

I would assume they are not sold in stores havent looked though. I see alot of pentecostal folks online saleing them so I would go for the pyramid thing :)

But the question othere then how you get them is do they work? I wouldnt want to get rich off of them just get thinner...

I know how to loose weight but dont seem to be able to make myself stop and eat thus I stay the same size I am. I walk about 4-5 miles a day give or take a few days and dont loose any weight. So I'm game I'll try anything once :) Just thought I would get an opinion or two from folks not trying to sale me something :)

I could feed them to my husband and daughter and see if they work for them but would like to know before I waste my money if they actually work. My husband doenst like to take pills of any kind so dont want to buy something that wont work for someone in my family :)

I have tried the Shawn Cotten's X-Treme N.R.G pills. They made me feel real weird. Kind of a jittery feeling... and I only took them for three days. They do work to suppress the appetite-- but the side effects were pretty undesirable for me... so I flushed those expensive little pills.

Just not worth the risk to me for a quick fix weight loss.

I'm trying the South Beach Diet, and more exercise.

South Beach is good...

I started low carb last night with a South Beach twist.

I call what i do low carb but it is done with the knowledge that fiber counters carbs etc so it is low carb with the glycemic index in mind.

I am not losing from them. But they do give me the energy to get up and move some better.

A lady in my church lost a lot of weight on them.

I probably don't take enough of them.

But I understand the formula has been changed again. :(

Ain't that the truth.

Dave, what do you do for snacking? For instance, I'm in nursing school and I just can't bring my lunch to school and when I'm at the hospital, it's difficult getting something to eat because everything looks overwhelming when looking at it all.

I usually get something like trail mix, but once in a while get a bag of Combos instead of potato chips. What do you do for a quick snack?

I want to add that I have never met anyone who lost weight with diet pills and kept it off longer than two years.

Like someone else said, if you don't change your lifestyle habits, you are just wasting time and money.

Most of the time, changing your lifestyle habits alone will aid you in losing weight without adding the chemicals to your body, which often do more harm than good in the long run.

No I don't find it scary, I find it needed.

But the Lord is healing me and my own natural energy is being revitalized.

Why is it being changed? Called FDA. The ones, in my opinion, that is bought and paid for by the Pharmacutical companies, that are against natural medicine, that get into their pockets.

Did it ever occur to you that they change it because of the problems some are having with the formula.

And most of these products aren't endorsed by the FDA. Look on the label.

Also, most of the time, no scientific studies are done on these products either. I find that problematic as a health professional.

And most of these 'remedies' have nothing to do with pharmaceutical companies. Anyone can come up with and sell a 'formula' and claim whatever they want to claim.

There are lots of foods you can eat that will give you increased energy naturally.

Wow...

any reason you went with GB rather than the Lap Band?

In my research the GB seems to have better long lasting results. The risks are higher but the rewards seem better. The lap-band is strictly a 'restrictive' procedure where the GB is both restrictive and has a malabsorption component to it.

Here's what I know. ALL drugs have side effects and most are NOT good.

It is a bunch of hype to try and make a few to be spotlighted that work for a lot of people.

Asprin can and has killed, but it would be stupid to take it off the market, when they are many more than benefit from it.

My sister is a pharmactucial tech. She told me of a drug that got pulled off the market due to killing people. Two years later the SAME drug was put back on the market under a different name. Had to be pulled again for same reason.

I'm sorry, but I don't trust the FDA anymore than I do a lot of other government agencies that has big companies with their hands in their pockets.

I don't like beef jerky and nuts are getting old.....LOL!

I have tried the protein enhanced snack bars...those are nasty and too much sugar. Stuff that is really sweet I can't handle anymore since I rarely eat sweets.

I like eating meat, so I get a sandwich and trim off most of the bread. I also go to Subway and get a turkey and bacon wrap.

I try to do what I can, but I'm always looking for new ideas since current ones get old quick.

I rarely take meds. I have difficulty just taking the vitamins that I should be taking every day. I just found out that I'm Vit D deficient and now have to take Vit D for 12 weeks and be tested again. Ugh.

I don't even take Tylenol or ibuprofen unless I'm in extreme pain.

Never heard of these, want some suggestion try a lifestyle change, like exercising eating right, make these things a daily habit. Diets never work, there is no magic pill, if you want to stay fit and trim, get off your butt and work that body, it’s that simple. And the real kicker, it cost you nothing, but time.

Are you breaking a sweat, are you walking up inclines, walking at least 30- 60 min without stopping at a high pace ?

Soda pop has about twelve tablespoons of sugar per a can.

Eating one large meal a day maybe what’s causing you the problem, you might be consuming more calories then you think, plus eating large meals towards the evenings are worst, one it not as active.

From what I read, with walking 4-5 miles a day and your not losing, yet your weight has remain the same, it sounds to me your taken in more calories then you realize, try losing the soda pop and take smaller portions of food, nothing bigger then the palm of your hand. Try upping your pace when walking, break a sweat. One thing you’ll find as you age, you need to eat less, it’s better to
eat small meals throughout the day, rather then three large meals or just one large meal a day. Good luck!

Then go pack up your parents' house and unpack at their new place

Then go pack up your brother's house and unpack at their temporary new place.

Then once the new NEW place is built, unpack your stuff and your parents' stuff and your brother's stuff....

TRUST ME! You'll lose weight!!!!

Dave,

Congratulations on your success thus far! I perceive that you are a fairly disciplined man and that is sooo essential to the long term success of procedures like the one you had. I have two friends that lost significant amounts of weight to only fall back into old habits and one has gained about 30% of the weight back and the other has gained it all back plus a few pounds. I will continue to pray for you to reach your goals and maintain them for the rest of your many years on this earth (should the Lord tarry his coming).:tiphat :tiphat

You have to love those almonds... so satisfying and they really keep things on schedule!:slaphappy

I buy raw almonds at Sam's Club in 2 pound bags... I eat them for my snacks and when I am driving long distance I will eat a handful from time to time to break the monotony.

I watch the beef jerky that is prepackaged because many of them have a lot of sugar in them. Here in LA we have a lot of meat markets that sell boudin and cracklins as well as some of the best beef jerky on the planet. Unfortunately the jerky goes for about 18 to 20 dollars a pound!

Herein lies your problem... you need to eat 5 to 6 times a day... 3 meals with quality proteins, low glycemic carbs, and some good fat and 2 or 3 snacks that consist of slow burning, energy enhancing carbs (fruits, raw vegetables, or oatmeal). NEVER NEVER NEVER skip breakfast!

You have shut your metabolism down by starving yourself and that causes excess insulin which results in fat (the dangerous kind) collecting around your midsection, hips and thighs.

Get busy eating and living again and you will be surprised what will happen to your body... UNLESS... you have an underlying medical condition that is causing you to gain or be unable to lose weight.:tiphat

I second what Phil says. Eating small amounts of protein frequently increases your metabolism. Not eating slows it down. And add some strength training along with the walking. Muscle mass also increases metabolism.

That's your biggest problem right there. If you don't eat, your body slows down to conserve energy. Then when you eat, your body won't use up what you've eaten because it's sleeping. It's also storing fat and sugar that it's used up when you aren't eating.

Your biggest meal should be breakfast and the smallest for supper.

I just started a diet last week. I have packed on some lbs since October.

I am walking quite a bit. Joined a church softball league. Lots of yogurt and Subway sandwiches. I drink only non calorie flavored Aquafina FlavorSplash waters. I haven't had any soda (even diet) since July 11 of 06.

I turn 40 this fall. Its harder than I ever imagined to lose weight and then keep it off.

How effective is cocaine for weight loss?
Don't automatically assume that I'm referring to myself and come off sounding ignorant and full or prejudice. Over the course of several months, how effective is weight loss if small doses of cocaine are taken every other week combined with exercise? And, what weight does it tend to target first? (fat located on the stomach, thighs etc)
