I just received a call from CareyM, who is on the road to Chi-Town, informing me that Sis. Willoughby has had her cancer return. She wanted me to post this on the forum so that people could pray.
Remember this wonderful missionary (I consider the wives missionaries as well) in your prayers.

Is this Sis. Steve Willoughby?
Bro. Coonskinner,
I believe it is. Sis. Barbara wrote a book about her healing.
May our great God and Healer touch her once again, in Jesus
Name!

I was watching an online service at Bro Terry Black's in Memphis a couple of weeks ago. Bro Willoughby was preaching and asked for prayer for Sis W. He said God had done a marvelous work in her life but that she was still needing to undergo treatment. It was an awesome service. Bro Black got up at the end of service and told of a need that the Willoughbys had. There house they were renting in Singapore was going way up in price and they were going to have to move in order to afford a place to live. At the end of that service they raised over $20,000.00 to be turned in within a month to cover their rent for 2 years. It was really something to see. The service is probably still on their website.

Sis. Barb Willoughby STILL stands in need of prayer. I've been in touch in the past two weeks with her and her mother-in-law. The lastest word I had is that the cancer is progressing. A hormone treatment was tried but not effective. I believe she is now undergoing her second round of chemo, a more agressive treatment, however that may have been completed by now. I understand with this treatment she may lose her hair. Also, I understand that she is in considerable pain.
On 7/12 I had email from her. She is, of course, still trusting God. She indicated on that date that Steve was in Romania and asked for prayer for him.
This couple, their children, church and their families back here in the US need our prayers.
As always her faith is strong. She told me in the email that she had peace.
I will try to get updated info to post.

Amen!
I keep thinking about how Keith and I met Bro W in the airport when we arrived in Singapore, the chances of that happening were zill to none--we were able to chat with him a bit and make his acquittance.
I will be praying for Sister W.

I am posting an email I received yesterday (8/8) from Steve Willoughby concerning Barb.
===========================
The last month has been terrifically sweet with more than seventy spirit filled and more than thirty being water baptized at Tabernacle of Joy. Mixed with the sweet are bits of bitter.
Barb had two terrible days back in bed unable to get up. The chemo is a horrible cure and it does terrible stuff to you. Her blood counts were very low the last testing. The red was half of what it should be and the white was much lower still. She went to School of Scripture one night and woke up the next morning with no voice. She went to the local GP a block away who the Oncologist uses to keep a check on her. This saves a trip downtown when it is just the simple things. They couldn’t account for her voice loss. They said it was nothing and gave her some throat inflammatory medicine. There is always drama. She will go Tuesday 14th for blood tests. If her white counts are back up they will start another three week course of treatment. Of course the doctor wants her to be able to continue the prescribed regimen. Her hair fallout has been less than they predicted but she was told it would gain in intensity. I don’t know which would be weirder for her to not have hair or for me to have hair. We may learn of the one but the other shall never be – wait, unless in heaven you get your hair back. Alas somehow I doubt if anybody is going to notice if you have hair or don’t have hair. I think the plane of thought will be much higher.
Still keeping in prayer.
Yes, the cure for Cancer is a rough thing, but needful.
Praying that God continues to be with both of the Willoughby's!

Brother Willoughby reports:
August 15, 2007
Dear Loved Ones,
Yesterday was Barb’s chemo appointment.
She arrived about 10a.m. to have her blood test.
The blood tested showed that her white blood count was low but not too low to continue treatment. She was glad she could continue.
We waited until about noon for her to start her treatment.
The IV went extremely slow. Her vein kept contracting and swelling not allowing a good flow. What was supposed to be a three hour drip turned into seven and a half hours. When you set with an IV for seven plus hours it gets very uncomfortable. She arrived home after a ten hour day barely able to go.
She had a short nap and took some food Sis. Doughty had prepared for her and she perked right up.
She got a good nights sleep and woke up feeling quite well this morning.
Able to eat and to sleep is such a blessing. This is not the way it was last time. Normal is so nauseous you can’t eat and not able to sleep more than a couple hours at a time. We are thankful for the blessing of sleep and appetite.
We did not get the very important tumor marker figure until this morning. Normal 0-30
Barb’s new figure is 194 down from 222.
Far from the normal range and of course I was hoping for a more dramatic drop but we are thankful for a reduction as previously it had climbed for three months.
The doctor is satisfied that she is responding to treatment.
Barb has lost 90% of her hair with just a few strands hanging on. The first day it started coming out we when to town and to Barb’s delight we found some really cute hats. She got a few styles and a couple of scarves that she is well pleased with. Thank you Finley UPC ladies for helping with these purchases.
Prayer Concerns:
· Continue to have good appetite
· No nausea
· White and red blood cells count return to normal
· Bone marrow to produce new blood - I will continue to give her injections to “turbo charge” her bones into producing new blood.
· No problem with constipation (serious problem last round)
· No infections as result of low white counts
· Healthy veins – this is important as the harsh chemo chemicals destroy the veins. Barb doesn’t have “good” veins because of the last chemo ten years ago. The vein they have been using will have to rest a month. In the mean time they will have to use deeper veins which are more painful to use.
· That her CEA tumor marker will return to normal immediately so that the treatment can be ended.
Considering everything she is doing remarkable. Your prayers are our life line. Your love is uplifting.
A woman’s journey to victory over cancer – that is our faith declaration. Thus it has been spoken. So shall it be done in Jesus mighty name.
Love to all,
Steve
