View Full Version : Hoping the UPC Fails?

I found this quote remarkable. What fellowship of men is this? Are they purposefully inciting division, in the hope that the UPC splits and fails?

It is a fellowship of like minded men. We are UPC, GIB and ALJC. Just like the AMC says we are like minded men. We are standing for truth and preaching revival while holding on the Godly principles and STANDARDS.

Sounds like that is what he is saying...that the T.V. will be the downfall of UPCI. I think they are wrong. It is only one of the many issues that may or may not contribute to its downfall. I don't really think it is going anywhere...that is my perspective;)!

I thought God was suppose to be the center....not man's ideas...I don't think the UPC is going anywhere...I think it will change out of need, but not fall apart because of TV or any other issue...so far I find it to be a God centered organization....

I have heard for the past 10 years how the UPC describing the demise of other religious organizations and denominiations, how that once they embraced holiness and separation...

If the UPC believes that their attitude of holiness and separation is what is going to sustain them as an organization, they should be aware that there are a few things happening, ministers are leaving, churches are leaving, and many of those hanging on are starting to dry up*.

*Considering the statistics of the average size church in the UPC...what is it, less than 200 people? I am sure the dedicated churches greater than 500 in large metro areas will continue to keep the org afloat, however, these big churches are not innocent in absorbing (creating raisins of) those churches with less than 200.

Oh what a powerful ministry some have!

As a minister of the gospel who is interested in having an audience, I have discovered that there there is a force which can provide a guarenteed audience if we will just get it into our thinking and speaking.

Do some want the UPC to fail? Oh no! of course "I" don't, but I know others who do! And there is evidence! I have it right in my hot little hands. I have their comments, and I have their true "down to earth" view points often provided through the miracle of being anonymous.

They have long sat in their pharisee-like posture, and predicted that we will die, if we don't recognize them, and their superior stature and better convictions, so well adapted to their little communities and backwater histories. They do not understand the need of reaching people! They want us to fail, because they resent us, and want it proven that the hand of God is not on us.

*wanders across the isle, and prepares to speak*

No, you dont want the UPC to fail, but you have been predicting it for years. You know who has the "strangle hold" on the organization, and who has been threatening it. You make lists and spend hours and hours following the gossip trails, nailing down attitudes that are bad, and blaming others for the lack of church growth, and saying we dont want any. We dont need you. We are going to go off on our own, and you will see how quickly you will fail without us! Maybe next year ... or sooner. I just read where you anticipate it happening maybe this month.

Brethren, you have your audience.. yes, but do you realize you will BOTH be judged at the judgment seat of Christ?

People will gravitate to your expressed resentment for not being recognized as right in your arguments, yes. But do you really want that audience?

Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than a house full of sacrifices with strife. (Proverbs 17:1)

You will never see revival this way, television or no television, either of you. Take that as a prophetic word.

Choose quietness first, the let the Lord take control of the harvest.

The UPC has only ever hs bee and will ever be as good as its reason for existence and then .... the cooperation of the members with that purpose. Get caught up and tangled in the net of issues and it all goes to pot.

Well kind of like that anyhow. *L* ;) :)

Who would even want to see anyone fail? What kind of attitude is that?

I was in the UPC for 20+ yrs and have been out for over 10yrs. I had great times and saw some despicable things when it comes to treatment of the brethren. All in all, I think it has seen better days and that the best are behind it. However, I don't want to see anyone fail. I don't want to see an organization fail. Many of us could tell our horror stories of abuse and the like in the UPC and other orgs for that matter.

It really doesn't do us much good to do that though other than getting it all out, which may need to be done from time to time. But get it out, get healed and then move on. I really hope the UPC does have a turn around and come back. It's failure won't be due to my tearing it down and it's victory won't be due to my involvement. May God have His way!! :D

Practically everyone I know who is UPC has a TV. I did not even KNOW that it was expected for anyone in UPC NOT to have a TV until I came to the message boards a few years ago....LOL
