A $6.9 million grant from the John Templeton Foundation will allow USC to establish the Pentecostal and Charismatic Research Initiative, university officials announced Monday.

"We are interested in understanding why Pentecostalism is growing so rapidly, what impact it is having on society and how it is different in various cultural settings."

Thought this was interesting.

I think this was discussed on here before but maybe not.

I thought it was interesting that they used the figure of 600 million Charismatics or Pentecostals. The last figures I had heard were "500 million" or "more than 500 million." Where I had read these figures before there was usually an explanation that these were numbers of people who believed the Charismatic gifts of the Spirit are available in our day, or who go to Charismatic/Pentecostal churches --not that all had personally received the experience.

As a dispensationalist and one-stepper, I consider this God pouring out His Spirit on "all flesh". If we are in the "Church Age" dispensation or the "Grace" dispensation we should expect the same thing today as experienced early in the dispensation.
