We all got a drink from the water fountain to commemorate the fountains of the deep opening up.

Visitors to the Gaia Napa Valley Hotel and Spa won't find a Bible in the nightstand drawer, but instead they will find a copy of ``An Inconvenient Truth,'' former Vice President Al Gore's book about global warming. They'll also find the Gaia equipped with waterless urinals, solar lighting and recycled paper as it becomes California's first hotel certified as ``green,'' or benevolent to the environment. Similar features are found 35 miles south at San Francisco's Orchard Garden Hotel. The Gaia and Orchard are seeking to be the first hotels in California certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. The GBC has authenticated 800 buildings in the U.S. and has about 6,000 in the process. GBC developed a rating system called the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, about seven years ago. According to Grant French, a Swinerton Inc. construction company engineer, "there has been a sea of change." Some companies ``are considering rolling out entire product lines of green hotels.'' California is working to enact green construction standards for all buildings, and any big new buildings California's government erects must be designed for LEED certification, by order of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Earth Day is very pagan; do Christians really celebrate this?

Some churches and pastors look at Earth Day like Christmas and Easter. They are not designated as special days in the Bible. Actually, they have pagan origins, but it is a time for reaching out to those around us to whom those days are special.
Some churches do have special services for those occasions. From what I understand, Eld. Epley and the congregation had special outdoor services with vegetarian box lunches available to all who attended. There was special folk type music and a famous flautist was a special guest. Both men and ladies were barefoot and wore flowers in their hair. After the luncheon they all scattered throughout the neighborhood and hugged trees.
Nothing wrong with being green. God has commanded us to be good stewards of the earth. Not sure why it has to be an either or proposition.
