Do you see AFF and former-NFCF as being any different?
If so, in what ways? Are these reasons turning AFF for better or worse?
If not, what do you feel should change for AFF to become better?
Just a sincere question coming from a fellow AFF family member.... :highfive

I'm a little unclear as to who owns the forum. Thankful, but unclear.
There seems to be a ton of admin as well. I think I'm the only poster that isn't admin.
This forum looks great and is very easy to use. Everything seems to have leveled off from the hysteria that bled NFCF to death. There have been some very substantive threads that I have really enjoyed.
We seem to have lost a little bit of the preacher bashing too. Thank God!

Don't take this the wrong way, but most of the time is is the ministry that carries the majority of the conversation on these forums. Not always, but a whole bunch.
It is good to see some who had disappeared during the last six weeks of NFCF. Their voices lend a spirit of credibility to many conversations.
I may rail against certain beliefs some profess, but we had denigrated to the point of profaning holy things. I truly hope we don't go there again.

Never fileted a trout. But I can do a 3 to 4 pound bass in 45 seconds with my electri filet knife.
Once you use electric filet knife you'll never go back to a knife.

I truly hope we don't go there again.I miss a bunch of the preachers who used to take part in discussion in the past. Frankly, if it wasn't for the preachers from ultra conservative to liberal I just wouldn't be interested. Like Pastor Poster said they carry a lot of the conversation - and in my opinion some of them have added most of the real weight to discussion. The lack of involvement of some is very much missed.
There's something about the "voice" of men of God who have been called to preach the Gospel. It's powerful, persuasive, anointed and effective. I appreciate they've taken the time to be involved and share their hearts and understanding of scripture and their inspired writing with all of us. Many have been positively influenced and impacted as a result.
It's the best part of forum involvement in my opinion.

I totally agree with ya... It's one thing to hear everyone's opinion on various subjects, but it's different with men who spend their life devoted to the things of God, teaching and preaching to others the Word of God...It's like you know they are going to have the Word to back of their arguments and.or opinions....at least we hope!!!lol

One of the things that make "these" type of forums unique is....both laity and ministers are dialoging about issues together. This hardly happens out in "the real world." You are getting feedback from those sitting in the pew to those preaching behind the pulpit....and even those who hold a leadership position in the organization.

I think change is difficult and I was attacked so frequently on NFCF that I have become paranoid and have by fists up ready to fight when no fight is actually going on. This is about me and not the forum.
The change I have seen in the forum, since it has been asked, is that deleting or not deleting posts has become more subjective. I think more rigid guidelines are needed and should be adhered to. The threads were separated to keep more current issues to the front and more daily serial types to the blog...but less guidelines for interrupting thread for the point of pushing your your own agenda, for example:
My Dear Rhoni thread is about asking questions and getting responses...not about debating whether Dear Rhoni has the right to exist because one person seems to think that my education is based in non-biblical, secualar humanism. It is not fair that they should be allowed to run ramshod through my thread while I have had posts deleted that were only affirming and lifting up of others.
I think more balances should be used. Am I biased? Most certainly! But who isn't?
Blessings, Rhoni

I think that really interesting conversations can, and at times should be passionate. It is very evident that we don't always agree. The important thing to remember is that there IS a line we should never cross.
That line is crossed when we profane God's holy things. These could be His Word, His ministers, or His people. Some things should not be touched.
I feel it is absolutely fine to bash ideas and even some man-made doctrines. But it is never okay to slander the things of God. Looking back, there are some discussions I regret being involved in. Not necessarily because I did anything wrong, but because there was no real value in the discussion. (Philippians 4:8)

Our goal and purpose in bringing this forum to life is a lot of what I have read in this thread.
A safe home to post
No preacher bashing - from those that would be considered ultra lib to those that would be considered ultra con
No tearing down of the Message - Acts 2:38 - John 3:5
Respect one for another
Good debate
Passionate responses
Dumb jokes (had to put that last one in there to give me a right to be able to post.
It must be working 203 members as of this writing.
Glad you all are here.

I really DO miss some of the posters that have taken part since the inception of FCF but no longer do. However, I understand that not everyone is going to spend a lot of time doing this kind of thing. They have priorities and this is not on the list.

Everyone on AFF has a right to their beliefs and to state them and defend them and even disagree with the beliefs of others. However, being unkind and mistreating others in the process will not be tolerated. We want a free flow of ideas and discussion, but not a "knock-down, drag 'em out" free for all. :D

It should be made clear, however, that there is a BIG difference between scrutinizing what someone says and scrutinizing who a person is. The former should be encouraged and the latter discouraged.

Ok let me see if I can make my thoughts clearer.. lol... I agree but what I meant is some people.. honestly it didnt matter if they were speaking in a debate/ scriptural mode or if they were responding to a "fluff" thread... they were attacked just because of who they were and thats when it became ridiculous...I do not think there is a thing wrong with scrutinizing (sp) when someone thinks views are biblically wrong.. not at all! (thats what makes for good discussion.) All I am saying is we dont need attacking of a person for sake of being that person...

The thing I have noticed about AFF is that, while, yes, there are disagreements between people, it seems people aren't getting personal and going on the attack. People seem to be putting forth a little more effort in being cordial and respectful even when they disagree. This is a good thing! I think it speaks well of the future of the forum in that the posts, overwhelmingly, have applauded the fact that we haven't proclaimed an 'open season' on preachers. The multiple statements about how people appreciate the fact that preachers aren't 'bashed' should tell us a lot about what people really desire in a forum.
Thanks to all that have offered opinions and for helping this forum be DIFFERENT in spirit and application than what so many of us had become accustomed to. We, do, welcome your suggestions and appreciate your desire to make this a great forum. I, personally, would like to see a poll added to this thread to see what people see as the biggest difference in now and then.

Now the next question will be are there enough asterisks to spell the names correctly?
I think it speaks well of the future of the forum in that the posts, overwhelmingly, have applauded the fact that we haven't proclaimed an 'open season' on preachers. The multiple statements about how people appreciate the fact that preachers aren't 'bashed' should tell us a lot about what people really desire in a forum.
Thanks to all that have offered opinions and for helping this forum be DIFFERENT in spirit and application than what so many of us had become accustomed to. We, do, welcome your suggestions and appreciate your desire to make this a great forum. I, personally, would like to see a poll added to this thread to see what people see as the biggest difference in now and then.
having been on the recieving end of some even handedness, I have to say that the current methodology is fantastic.
Nobody was more against the "freedom" of NFCF than me, and I appreciate the boundries here.
