Has anyone recorded an audio CD with a DVD recorder? ..:hmmm
If anyone has a DVD recorder would you do a test?
The reason I ask is...... if this works I would be able to transfer my music that I have recorded with out having to buy an expensive recorder.
Coop,
The digital encoding on DVD's is different than on CD's. If you are speaking about a DVD recorder in a computer you, of course, could put the music on it as files but I think you mean can you record music and play it back on the DVD?

I do that on the PC. We record directly to the PC hard drive, edit where necessary and then burn it to a CD or DVD.
Only thing is a DVD may not play in your CD players. If you already have a PC that is fairly new then you probably already have what you need

That was what I was thinking. Most DVD players will play CD's but CD players are not mfg to handle playing DVD's.
If you are playing it back on a computer combo drive then it doesn't matter as it will play both. You just are not going to be able to record your music on a DVD and play it in the typical home or car CD player.

Coop,
There is some excellent software called Power Tracks by PG music of Vancouver for a rather low price. It competes with the big boys and does it all, plus excellent support. http://pgmusic.com/ You may want to take a look?

BTW we have a EMU sound card much like M-audio cards...has two analog in and 2 outs, plus midi and some other i/o devices.
Came with Ableton light, Cakewalk, Cubase and some other goodies....good sound card. Costs about $100.
If you have a sound board you can plug it right in and record.
With music that is already on a CD you might consider just copying them all to the hard drive and then burning it to whatever you want when you want to...edit them and turn them into wave or MP3 or even the Ipod format

Where are you going to listen to the CD? Car? Home?
Are you going to resell them?
Try newegg.com to find the sound card also, and get a legit full working copy of Nero while there for $59 also.
