Is there any way I can get music files that are lifted from CDs and stored in Windows media player somewhere so that I can upload them and make ringtones from them using phonezoo? They allow use of copyrighted material to make ringtones for personal use, but they can't be exchanged. I am just not technically inclined enough to figure out how to do this.

I think I may have just figured it out... Thanks to my teenage daughter.

If all else fails, ask a kid... :D

Or maybe I didn't figure it out.... It lets me upload the file, but then just loops... and won't let me play the file to take the clip from it once the file is on the site. Weird....

Linux? That would mean I have to learn a whole new operating system...

Is it worth it?

what do you mean it won't let you play? What do you mean it just loops?

Phonezoo has an option to create your own ringtones from music that you upload to the site. It shows me that the song is uploading (which takes forever) But when it finished uploading, it just says that it's "looping" (That was the word used on the site, not my term) And it won't play the song or let me edit it down to a 20 second clip for a ringtone.

I told y'all I am NOT technically inclined...

There has to be an easier way to do this... I refuse to pay $2.49 each to get the ringtones I want.

I'll have to sweet talk someone into making them for me. Yeah, right.... :D

If you are willing to spend a few bucks there is a great program out there called Tunebyte.

http://www.tunebyte.com

It will make mp3's and will cut ringtones from them.

What file format does it have to be in? Why not just download a free editor and do it on the PC?

Or someone with the know how could let me send them the songs on a CD and make the ringtones for me... :D

I'm not kidding... I have NO IDEA what I'm doing... I have learned what I know by trial and error.

You know those jokes you read online where the tech support people tell the woman she should put her computer back in the box and take it back where she purchased it..................... Well, I'm not quite THAT bad.... :lol

It's not that urgent. I found a few premade ones on there that I like.. I can live with those till I get sick of them. Maybe by that time I'll figure it out. I'll keep playing around with stuff till I do.

There is an app on my Winders Drive that I used to make Ringtones. I hooked up to a USB cable and transferred some tones. They vary from cell carrier to cell carrier and from phone to phone. They want you to pay for ringtones, and that is one thing I never did....

I have a Sanyo 4500 and Sprint. I would simply find an mp3 and email to the phone. Sprint then converted it to .qcd format automagically.

Here I was searching /home/mnt and thinking I need to add sda to my accessable drives and it was in the /windows directory!

http://www.bitpim.org/

BitPim is a program that allows you to view and manipulate data on many CDMA phones from LG, Samsung, Sanyo and other manufacturers. This includes the PhoneBook, Calendar, WallPapers, RingTones (functionality varies by phone) and the Filesystem for most Qualcomm CDMA chipset based phones.

Make sure the file you upload is in one of these formats: mp3, .wav, .aac, .m4a, .wma

When you are done uploading it, drag the hilighted portion over the part of the music you want. It looks like a sound wave.

Click create and send to My Zoo. This will store the ringtone to your online account with phonezoo. After that download it to your phone. Your cellphone must have a webbrowser on it, because phonezoo will send a text message with a weblink to download the ringtone to your phone. Then just go to your ringtone setup on your phone and choose the ringtone.

Make sure phonezoo has the model # of your phone. Different companies have different ringtone files.

Hope that helps.
