My daughter has heard a song and all she remembers is that the end of it goes, "... to some I know Jesus might not be, but He's so real to me."
I recognized it as an old song: Can't remember who but I wonder if it's the Pierces. Not sure at all.
My daughter is an incredible singer and fell in love with a song... that I already forgot! That's another reason I have to feel old.
Ain't it amazing that a new generation of young folks are hearing songs we sang in years gone by and think they are new!

Yes.... this song was written and sung by the Jim and Becky Pearce back in the 80's. I have sung it often and have the words if she wants them. I still listen to that album. Beautiful song!

TB and I have sung that song many many times since the first time we heard it back in the 70s. We were the first ones to ever sing it in our District. :)
Here are the words.......
He's So Real To Me
There are those who say Jesus never lived
And that heaven is somebody's dream
But I just called out His name on my knees
And I heard Someone answer my pleas.
We've crossed too many mountains together
And walked through the of valleys of life
To some I know Jesus might not be
But He's so real to me!
Many times when I'm burdened
He's a Friend so dear
When I'm lonely He's always near
I can't deny Him for I love Him you see
For Jesus is so real to me!

She's wanting the words to sing in Church; I just can't remember them!
Would LOVE to have them for her.
Thanks!

Isn't it strange that songs we 'left behind' are now things our children have never heard. They hear songs that they think are brand new and they turn out to be old songs.
Gotta love that.

The question is.... why did we "leave them behind"? :heeheehee
Sometimes I think we get so caught up in all the "new" stuff that is coming around and think that we have to keep up with the other churches and what they are doing that we lose some great stuff.
Some of these new songs drive me crazy....:ranting but that's for another day .... I won't get on that soapbox now. :heeheehee

go talk to monkey man about this! lollol
A precious moment in a mom's life: The first song I learned to play on the piano was "What a Friend we Have in Jesus"..and I learned and played it for my mother as a surprise when she came home from the hospital after having cancer. It was her favorite song.......I hadn't heard it much in the recent years. My 3 boys have their kids gospel music and one of them came in and played his favorite song for me, it was "What a Friend we Have in Jesus" ! you know that made my heart glad....

My kids know that "Platters" are something we eat on...
They used to be something we listened too..
They don't even know what a Record Player is...
Now We are gettin' old..
Could you hand me my teeth??? :D

I agree, though, that some of these new songs are really bad - like the one where the woman is singing about being ravished by the Holy Spirit (or Jesus, or God, I don't remember which). And, no, these are not the days of Elijah or David or Moses.

We found an old electric typewriter in the back of my closet. My 12 year old was entranced by it. He thought it was the most amazing thing he'd ever seen. "You mean you type on keys like that and it prints right out on the paper? How do you put pictures in your report? You mean they really had ones before this that you didn't even have to plug in?? And electric is BETTER?" I was about ROFL by the time he got done! He called in all his buds from the neighborhood to see "this kewl new thing my mom found". All the neighbor kids were ga-ga over it. How funny!!

Pearce. ;)
It is and I guess it kind of dates us a bit. It's hard to believe we learned that song 30 years ago almost. And been singing it that long. Woah! :)

Wow!! Haven't heard or thought of that in ages. They came here when Bishop Wilson was pastor...they were just so young and starting out.
I always loved It's My Desire by Jim and Becky...still a great song.

Sis Barb,
It's my desire is the most requested song I sing... I love to play it on my sax more than I love singing it. I think the reason it moves me so is that it is my testimony... If you could see where Jesus brought me from... :ty Jesus!

So you can take this world's wealth and riches.....
I don't need earth's fame!
It's my desire to live for Him!

That is still a great song...:clap
