What do characteristics do you value most in a forum? In what order?
Good mixture of active posters (cons, moderates, libs)
Minimal amount of arguing; more peaceful/relaxed setting
Good variety of thread topics to talk about
Maximum amount of posting freedom
Cool website design (functions, nice colors, good structure, etc)
(or fill in the blank with something else)
Then rank them in order of importance to you (1-most 5-least)

This is my personal vote:
1. Good mixture of active posters - I think it keeps a forum balanced in discussion
2. Minimal amount of arguing; more peaceful/relaxed setting - I got sick of all the blood-shed
3. Cool website design - My forum has to be cool looking and FAST!!!! Everything in my life is fast, why not my forum?
4. Good variety of thread topics to talk about - I tend to gravitate to topics that interest me anyhow
5. Maximum amount of posting freedom - I consider myself a moderate "middle-of-the-road" kinda guy.... I personally don't need much freedom to be able to say what I need/want to say....

where fok can share what is on their mind and people not judge you. NOT! lol
I enjoy forums but its very distasteful when they bash ministries. it doesn't matter how large or small it maybe.
People measure success differently, I think if you are doing your best and what God has called you to do then you are successful.
I am happy to be here.

1 Timothy 1:4 (KJV) 4Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
Titus 3:9 (KJV) 9But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain
1 Peter 2:9 - 10 (KJV) 9But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

Respect is important. IMO
What do characteristics do you value most in a forum? In what order?
Good mixture of active posters (cons, moderates, libs)
Minimal amount of arguing; more peaceful/relaxed setting

Maximum amount of posting freedom
Cool website design (functions, nice colors, good structure, etc)
(or fill in the blank with something else)

This is not the order of importance to me...just my thoguhts...
Owners are vital...they keep the lights on.
A good working and functional board is nice...makes it easier to navigate.
But for me, the people are the most important element, after all, WE are the board!! Without people posting, it's just 'dead air'.
Admins are necessary...with people involved, it is easy to allow the passion for the discussion at hand to go over the top.
Yes, I would say though that it's the people and it's hearing their heartbeat that's most important for me.

Most important thing to me is calibre posters who are intelligent, can think and speak for themselves, aren't afraid to disagree with the status quo and know how to keep discussion lively and happening and "mix it up" from time to time. We're missing some of these. We also need the broad spectrum of views and doctrinal persuasions otherwise it just gets boring. Actually without any of what I mention here it gets boring.
Good administration is vital.
Smooth running website and design is an added plus.

1. Provocative posts.
2. A good balance of perspectives.
3. Controversy without viciousness.
4. Variety.
5. Maximum amount of posting freedom, with clean content.
6. Website design (visual) and layout (efficiency and functionality)
7. Low number of smarmy threads.
8. Members who don't take themselves so seriously. Big egos are a quick kill to any forum.

ever had masaubee (sp?) before? its a green sause that you mix into soy sause to make it taste hotter? I was at a Japanese resturant once and took some on a bet, and kept adding more and more until I finally just put some of it right onto my chicken straight.... wasn't that hot though.... its about 1/3 as hot as some of the hot sauses I've had before, and no afterburn that some hot sauses have....

The first time I ever had wasabi on my plate, I thought it was avocado and put the entire (Tablespoon size) undiluted lump in my mouth...HOT!!!!!
*grin*
I break rules...the pickled ginger that's supposed to be a palate cleanser? I top the rolls with it, then dip the roll in wasabi/soy sauce and eat it all together. I like the ginger with the roll. Any purist would probably think I'm a sushi-blasphemer. :heeheehee

I pretty much like what I see in the site, I am new and I am still learning the ropes. I would like to see some good ole apostolic advice lines for parents, singles, married couples, that are struggling and want help from Jesus name people who have been there ,done that, and got the tee shirt!
Welcome! :)
If you start a thread on any subject, you'll get plenty of advice.......some good and some bad!!!!! I think you will be able to tell the difference! :)

I have not read this whole thread- But I love talking with people who have a common background, the "characters" that come on post, friendships I have made, and chewing the fat about topics we love to talk about.
