My oldest son had his first prom tonight. He took a girl named Rachel who he's been sweet on for quite a while now. A group of them all went together. It was Justin & Rachel, Sam (who is Rachel's older brother) and Kelsey and Sarah. These are all kids from our church. This gang hangs out together all the time, so it just seemed natural for them to also go to prom together.

So you want to see how handsome he looked?

This is rare, because Justin rarely ever smiles for pictures

Thanks!! I'm pretty proud of him. We can't take any credit for how handsome he is, since he's adopted. But he really is a great kid! We were so blessed when God placed Justin in our home.
And Rachel is as sweet as they come. Her mom was born in the Philippines and her dad is American. They married and then spent the next 18 years in Thailand as missionaries. While there, they had 5 kids. Then 2 years ago, the dad decided to move his family back to the States and settle them here in our little town - where they didn't know a single soul. And then he declared that he didn't want to be married anymore and wants a divorce. The mom is devastated, of course. But she believes in the sanctity of marriage, so she's refusing to file for divorce. It's a sad situation. This man has walked away from the God that he knew and preached about for all those years. Please pray for him. His name is Bill.

I love prom pictures. One of the girls that I work with brought all her son's pictures to work a couple of weeks ago and shared them with us.

The school that Pastor and Sherri's son Zac went to had the James Bond theme. He wore blue and black too.

I will. I understand completely. My husband's ex-wife wants absolutely nothing to do with God. She was a pastor's wife, a choir director, played the piano, very involved in ministry and is now so bitter at God. She decided that she didn't want to be married after 18 years, didn't want to be a christian, and she is a total piece of work. We deal with her daily almost. You pray for Jan and I'll pray for Bill.

Lovely pictures.

Awwww....that's sweet! Good lookin' kids!

Thank you. This is a great group of kids. All of them have very high moral standards and are good committed Christian kids. It's so good to know that that is the kind of crowd my son is hanging around with.

Justin wore the red because Rachel's dress was red and they wanted to match. I thought that was sweet. This is his first official 'date'. Nothing like starting out with a bang, eh!

Beautiful young people but I do agree that they need more clothes on;)! I went to a family wedding [not my son's] and I never saw the like of so much cleavage. I was embarrassed to look at some of them. Moderation and modesty...that is the thing. I just hate the extremes...from one to the other!

Just my opinion.

Blessings, Rhoni

I agree with you all on the dresses. I don't think I could let a daughter leave the house with that little on the top, personally. But then, I can't really judge since I don't have a daughter :) (a fact for which I thank the Lord! Boys are hard enough at this age!! LOL)

You should have seen the girl who worked at the store where we rented Justin's tux. OH MY!!!!! Her dress was slit open at the top from the top almost to her belly button. It was hooked at the very top with a tiny button, but wide open the rest of the way down. Which means that the view was.................. well, let's just say it was every teen-age boys dream view. Good grief!!! I wanted to tell her to go and put some clothes on!!!

When Justin first got dressed, we went to my mother's to show her. While we were there, I told him I wanted a couple of pics of just him. He was ok with doing the pics, but told me flat out that I should NOT expect him to smile in ay of the pictures. He "doesn't like to smile in pictures". So took a few at my mom's house, but of course, no smile.

Then when the kids all got together, from the minute Justin laid eyes on Rachel, he grinned like the Cheshire cat non-stop. It was so funny to watch. The boy is smitten, I'll tell ya!! I'm crackin' up here cuz he's got it baaaaadd!

Ah, 'first love' :heart :wub :kiss :wub :heart

We've had more people who have been shocked when they've found out that our boys are both adopted. They tell us that not only do they both look like Walt and me, but they also think they look like each other - even tho they are not biological siblings at all. In fact, they were each born in completely different states!

We've had some fun with this over the years. My favorite story was when Justin was 3. We had just brought him home. So of course, being the proud parents we were, we took him immediately to have family pictures taken. The photographer started commenting over and over about how much he "looks like his father". Finally, I blurted out, "So you know his father?" The guy looked at me stunned and pointed at Walt. I said, "No, this is his DAD. The man who fathered him is a completely different person. One we've never even met because Justin is adopted." This guy was dying!! I thought it was hysterical.

I agree...your son is a handsome young man and I know you are so proud! He is blessed to have you as parents.

We hear that alot. But really WE are the blessed ones to have both of our boys as our sons. They are truly God's greatest gifts to us.

My experience tells me that that is true with boys. I do Senior Pictures for people. The girls are always soooooooooo easy!! They smile and pose and eat it up. The boys declare every time, before we even leave the house, "Don't ask me to smile because I'm not going to do it". EVERY TIME!!!

Thanks, Ron. I know I'm a little prejudiced, but I have to agree - he is handsome, isn't he!

Where has the time gone? Boy, ain't it the truth!! Just yesterday I was changing his diapers!!!! And now he's head over heals over Rachel and going to prom! And he's talking to the recruiter for the Army National Guard. NOT GOOD!! Help me pray that Justin figures out real soon that the Guard is not a good option for him. He's way too sensitive a fellow to be able to survive in Iraq. I don't doubt that he would live. But I do doubt that he would come home uneffected.

The Will of God is the best & safest place to be.
Prayer from a mom who knows her God can help set a proper course.
Some kids think that it is exciting and fun to be in the military but forget that it is a very dangerous position whereby one should be expected to lay down their lives.
He is too young to make that choice so quickly.

Will be praying for Justin.
