I will probably do " Rain on us" Byron cage" and i'm not sure what else right now. our pastor is not too picky lol

Now you've got it running through my head.... we will probably have to do that one now.

Every Sunday is also "resurrection Sunday." I guess we should do nothing special for easter, either. :lol
Hopefully, most churches have guests every Sunday. ;) If not we're not doing our job.
I am taking FULL advantage of the fact that it is Pentecost Sunday.

the churches that acknowledge Pentecost sunday usually have some type of outreach servcie or rally. the UPC makes a big push for visitors , prayer & fasting

I like to jazz them up.Usually in La the churches are mixed so you can play any flavor of music style.I love Leaning on the Everylasting Arms sung
bluesy.I miss that here. The church in Abbeville has the Randalls youngest daughter Melita for the MOM.The other lead singer is a black preacher named Joe Boudoin. He is awesome.I usually sing the same songs as he does. When
he came preach for us in the past he and I got to really jam.I love the song
that says.....God's got a Way!

Speaking of old music, Thad, Saturday I was visiting my old church for the pastor's church anniversary...41st or 42nd...can't remember.
Anyway, at the close of the service, Mother D got up to give remarks and then Bishop D was to follow. Mother took the mic and began to sing the old call and answer song...
Do you want to rise with me
When I rise
Do you want to rise with me
When I rise
In the morning
When I rise
In the morning
When I rise
Well, you can imagine we were all standing and singing with her and crying...it was...whew!! You shoulda been there, son!!

Thad - how was your attendance in choir yesterday? We had so many people out of town for Memorial Day weekend that we weren't able to have choir A.M. or P.M.!!
When we were growing up, did your family not come back from vacation in time for Sunday services?
With gas prices going up, we thought for sure there wouldn't be many gone....but I guess people are gonna do what people wanna do. Right?

You always ask the compelling, if not personal questions...but that's okay, this time, and I don't mind answering.
I did feel quite comfortable there...I am 'Black' and can't help myself!!
But would I return...no, son, and for reasons I can't say on an open forum.
One main reason though is my mom. She doesn't drive and is in the stage in her life that she needs me.
They have never tried to get me back because that is not ethical you know...however, they were extremely receptive and sincerely happy to see me.
The church is affiliated with the Church Of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Apostolic Faith.
Re music, the call and answer songs date back to slavery days and have been very much a part of the Black church structure and culture.
We sang one in our church not long ago...
What do you think about Jesus
He's all right...
Really the same came be said about our churches, Thad...how many of the young folks really know who Bishop Haywood was and the powerful songs he wrote.
I think progress is good but we should remmeber from whence we came.
Need to go check on the pie...

not too bad really. I was pleasantly surprised. some holidays are worse than others perhaps but our attendance yesterday was pretty good. my youth choir is a little more unpredictable but that i expect. they get sat down, or the parents don't bring them, or they have other things going on.
Now before people take this wrong, I am not against holidays in general, family time, etc., but i feel that in our day and time people take leisure time to the extreme. It's becoming like the days of Rome, a holiday, feast, BBQ for every little thing.

Squint Entertainment went under. If it wasn't for Steve Taylor, The Newsboys would still be wannabes.
'Tis the truth....

I Want To Be A Clone Lyrics
I'd gone through so much other stuff
that walking down the aisle was tough
but now I know it's not enough
I want to be a clone
I asked the Lord into my heart
they said that was the way to start
but now you've got to play the part
I want to be a clone
chorus:
Be a clone and kiss conviction goodnight
cloneliness is next to Godliness, right?
I'm grateful that they show the way
'cause I could never know the way
to serve him on my own
I want to be a clone
They told me that I'd fall away
unless I followed what they say
who needs the Bible anyway?
I want to be a clone
Their language it was new to me
but Christianese got through to me
now I can speak it fluently
I want to be a clone
(chorus)
Send in the clones
Ah, I kind of wanted to tell my friends and people about it, you know
What?
You're still a babe
you have to grow
give it twenty years or so
'cause if you want to be one of his
got to act like one of us
(chorus)
So now I see the whole design
my church is an assembly line
the parts are there
I'm feeling fine
I want to be a clone
I've learned enough to stay afloat
but not so much I rock the boat
I'm glad they shoved it down my throat
I want to be a clone
Everybody must get cloned
Ahhhhhhhhh... I thought you were talking about Steve Taylor too..
Wow... I had not heard that... yeah a link would be great.
