Is there a way to hook a VCR to your computer? I would like to put some old home movies on DVD using my PC but haven't figured out how.

Not sure - -
I bought a recorder that hooked up to the TV plays the VCR and recorded to DVD. I got all my family VCR tapes transferred a couple years back and just in time. The ones from my son's first year (1984) was losing color and wouldn't have been long before being unviewable.
Now, I'm in need of tranferring the more recent video tapes (cassetts) to DVD and not sure if anything is available to do that yet.
I made copies of the DVD's and shared with their Dad so there are two copies and the origina VCR's too.

Sure. Easy if you have a video capture card. Can be bought pretty cheaply on e-bay. Just a word of advice though. Make sure the card you buy is 100% compatable with your OS otherwise you'll run into all sorts of headaches.
Once the card is installed, install the software and plug in the vcr. Hit play on the VCR and then hit capture on the software and your in business.
Then use a program to burn it to disk. I recommend Nero.
