Were was it?

A place called Northwood's Inn in Southern California. I used to go there a lot with an old girlfriend and her mother.

Im not too impressed with steakhouses. We went to outback last week and I was just not impressed with the steak. Any steak that I have to use steak sauce to enjoy is just not a great steak IMO

I mean anyone can grill a steak. I want a steak that has flavor. And I also like grilled onions on mine and preferably not soggy

I had a Cowboy Ribeye steak at a place called The Saloon in Chicago that was huge. It was pretty good.

But I have yet to find a better steak that the Chargrilled Primerib at House of Ribs in Johnson City TN. Great steak! Great atmosphere! And a great date for me and my wife!!!

The best steak I've ever had was in the kitchen of Bobby Van's Steakhouse on Park Avenue in Manhattan. One summer I worked w/ a musician friend who worked on AC units ... After a working on their unit in the smallest room and hottest room you've ever been in ... they served us $50 steaks in their kitchen ... you've never eaten anything like it in your life!!!!!

A steak from any Ruths Chris is the best.

Flemmings and The Palm in Nashville are not far behind along with Cool River in Austin, TX

The Hilton Casino steak house in Reno, Nevada is also very good.

Ruths Chris were good, but I have had better. I have told my youngest son that just he and I would go to Ruths Chris and eat, and he has not forgotten. I am saving a few dollars and putting them back for the event. :D

Interesting...I guess what makes a great steakhouse is the fact that they actually choose cuts of beef rather than just getting pre-packaged cuts or frozen.

It fluctuates with the flavor some and tenderizes the meat.

Instead of telling you where the best steak is, let me tell you my opinion of how to order the best steak from any good steak house.

Order a Prime Rib. Tell them to take a Rare Prime Rib steak, then season with their steak seasoning and put it on their grill and finish it to your likeing like they would cook a Ribeye.

THIS IS AWESOME.

Outback as done this for me as well as Salt Grass. I bet any good steak house will do it.

Prime rib, Filet, and Ribeye from Ruths Chris!!!! Also a local favorite in Knoxville, Tn is Ye Olde Steak House, Oh buddy everything is great there! They have a Porter House that is at the minimum 20oz. Big and Delicious!

WH, you should try to go to Ye Olde on your way to NAYC. The place is just outside Sevierville. Here is the site:

I think it was the point he took her to a homecooked meal instead of a fancy restaurant. Same advice though, not worth it!

Yeah you are right. It is on Chapman Highway. It is accually in Knoxville, but right before you get to the community called Seymour. If you get into down town Knoxville you will cross the river heading to Sevierville. It is only maybe 10 miles up there. It is on your left before you get to the baseball fields. If you get up that way you will certainly enjoy it!

I'm sure she would have eating steak had it been at the Beefhouse. She made it easy on me that night and split.

God had someone else in mind for me anyways and she likes steak from right off the home fire.

I do take her and the kids out to give the kitchen a break from time to time, but we usually head for Chinese. I love that stuff! :D

Yo! Why didn't your kids buy you the grill before I came?

But, the meatloaf was great and I definitely didn't go hungry!

BTW.. Morton's in San Antonio was great! I had a NY strip medium rare with sauteed garlic, onions and mushrooms as a side dish along with steamed asparagus spears.

Ruth's is always reliable and good but it has become somewhat commercial.

I still can't eat alone at places like that, especially on a Friday night, but I just had to have the steak! I enjoy my own company in my space, but in a restaurant - that just looks lonely - lol!!!!

That didn't bother me that bad when I was divorced. I know alot of folks that won't eat by themselves, but I enjoyed the me time. I didn't do it often, but occasionally I wanted a certain thing to eat and no one to ask to go with me, so I just went by myself.

I like Ruth's Chris, Mortons, Eddie Merlos in Indy, Jeff Luby's in Louisville, at Nashville there is a local place called Jimmy Kelleys it is good, I love the marianted steak at Commander's palace, the prime rib at Lawrys in awsome, I have eaten at the Chop House in Chicago not to be confused with the other chop houses, Gallagers is great, I just like a good steak period. Even the little T-bone at the Waffle house. There is a little Greek steak house in St. Louis across from the Fox Theater that is good. Not expensive but good.
