Good morning everyone.

Already been out running around today... Michael had an appointment with the counselor this morning-- I always dread those, but they seem to be helping a little. I've not given up, and I don't accept her "opinion" of what may be going on-- I really hate the "labels" that they want to put on people--and I've just put it into God's hands. I'm not real sure I want to continue taking him to the appointments. I keep praying for an answer, but so far I haven't gotten one. So I guess I keep doing what I'm doing till I get that answer. :(

I have had the Christmas shopping finished for a while, but I haven't gotten anything wrapped. I am hoping to lock the kids into a bedroom or something this afternoon so that I can get all that done! I hate waiting till the last minute.

I also have some baking that I need to get done, and I keep putting it off. We don't need all those calories in the house anyway! :DTina I don't know what is going on with your son or what you objecting to that is happening, but can you look for a different councilor? There are Christians ones, and that makes a huge difference....they are not swayed by the modern names or lables....and they don't jump on drugs as the answer to everything....

Good morning
I love the pictures of the baby, what a little cutie.

And I loved the gingerbread house and it collapsing is just the thing that would have happened to me. I taught my kids years ago, broke cookies taste just as good as whole ones. We would have rushed to it and started sampling just to make sure that broke tastes as good as whole, lol.

I posted the rest of this in the open forum of the fellowship hall and I id not get a response, so I put it here. As you can tell I am reaching out fr some help.

How do you know if you have forgiven someone?

If you forgive them does that mean you act as if nothing ever happened?
I mean if someone shot your dog out of meanness, you might forgive them but would you ever trust them around your dog again? If not does that mean you have not forgiven them?

Suppose you think you have forgiven but you really have not, how would you know?

Does forgiveness mean you have to associate and be friends with someone that has a personality that just irritates you?

I know these are very childish questions but I really need some answers.

My mom would yell and beat and call me names, I choose to keep away from her and ftry not to let her spend much time with grandbaby. I do not want him to experiance what I did. Does that mean I have not forgiven her?

(a few minutes later) someone did answer I suppose I was too impatient. and his answer made a lot of sense.
Forgivness means you feel better and you turn it over to God, but that has nothing to do with trust or future relationships....keeping your mother at arms length seems healthy to me....toxic people are not good to have in our lives and you really have to limit the amount of time you spend with them, and by all means you need to protect the children....has your mom ever apoligised or taken any responsiblitly, has she changed...forgive does not mean you have to forgot and not forgetting is sometimes wise...

Happy Tuesday all....had hubby in the ER yesterday getting his hand re-stitched.

It was a mess, and not healing...so we spent a good 4 hours in there but it was worth ever minute because it looked 100% better when doc was done! It was more painful than the first time, but it will heal now!

Bad part is he can't work because everytime he uses that hand it puts pressure on those stitches...so he is in the shop today putting away fittings and doing what he can one handed!

It is RAINING.....big surprise!~

How is everyone else today?

Oh, poor thing! I'm sorry to hear this, but glad to know it will heal properly now.

I am going grocery shopping today...hate it, but it must be done. Our third boy has a Christmas program tonight and then we have another showing on our house this evening. So, I'll tidy up and mop the floors in a bit.

Good morning

I got up this morning, did my devotional, did part of my exercisees for today, and then baby came. So I freshened up and baby and I went to get groceries. Now we are back and nstead of putting my exercise clothes back on I sit here and type. I examined my motives and I know that I am not putting my exercise clothes back on because then I will have to finish the workout.

My grocery store has the nicest people working there. I have told the manager several times how nice the workers are. It is a pleasure to shop there. It is hard to shop with an active 2 yr. old and they seem to go out of there way to make it a little easier for me.

Today I need to take care of baby, finish my workout, straighten house a bit, cook supper for dh, I will have a salad, and then get ready for church tonight.

Hope all of you have a wonderful day

I need motivation to get to work.... lol

Good Afternoon Ladies! Today I got a nice suprise! I work for a major scrooge/tightwad whatever you want to call him and everyear he inisists that we all (everyone in our office) go out to lunch around Christmas time for a "special Christmas luncheon" but he will never buy and he wants us to buy our own - which makes it pointless to me. So, this year when the bill comes he announces that he is buying which was a huge blessing to me because it wasn't a real cheap restaraunt and I really didn't have the money, I was robbing peter to pay paul if you know what I mean!!! Anyways, it made my day! lol!

Other than that nothing much is new in my life. Tonight I actually get to stay home and do NOTHING!!! All my presents are bought and wrapped and we have nothing planned for tonight so I get to go home fix supper and crash!!! Well, crash as much as Ariel will allow! Lol! Maybe I can talk my hubby into going and renting a good Christmas movie!! Or we could let jasmine open one of her gifts early - a DVD - and watch it! :christmoose I know he won't go for that one though.

I made Christmas cookies and candy today. When I went to a cookie swap one of the girls served Chocolate Covered Cherry cookies. They were real good and easy to make- so I made them today. My cousin emailed me a recipe for crock pot candy- so I made it too. Very easy- my kind of recipe. I have not tasted them yet, I am waiting for them to cool off. I have been so busy lately, that I am enjoying a day at home just puttering around. My mom asked that I make some goodies so she can take them to the beauty shop tomorrow. Friday I am going to pick up a cousin of my dad's who is in assisted living and bring her over to their house for a visit. My good deed for the holidays!!!! Hope everyone is doing well and is taking care of themselves at this busy time of the year.

Hi Ladies,

We took my aunt to the ER Monday morning via Rescue Squad. She is 61 years old. It's my mom's baby sister. Now she's in the ICU. She had a hert attack (another!). She's had quadruple bypass (when she was 45) and has 16 stents in her trying to keep her blood flowing. She's in really, really bad shape. And now the kidney doc says that her kidneys are failing.

They weighed her when she went in the hospital. The next day she had lost over 10 lbs (water weight) and today she's gained that back plus more.

I'm afraid we're going to lose her.

In the meantime, my 13 year old has had eczema all his life. Lately it's been especially bad. And now he has at least two spots that are very red and full of thick puss. Ewww. I called today and his dermatologist can see him tomorrow. Please pray that she can figure out what needs to be done to clear him up.

Add to that the fact that all my daycare kids are sick - one has bronchitus, one has an ear infection and the other has a sinus infection.

Welcome to the infirmary!!

Here is a recipe for Funfetti cookies that was passed along to me. I have heard it is really good and that the lady they got it from (she works with my mom) makes like 300 dozen of these a year!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought the mix and we're gonna try them this weekend!!!

************************************************** *********

Funfetti Cookies (serves 40)

1 pkg Pillsbury Funfetti cake mix
1/3 cup oil
2 eggs
1 tub Pillsbury Pink Vanilla Funfetti icing

Stir together dry cake mix, oil and eggs until thoroughly moistened. Stir in decorator sprinkles from the cake mix (if packaged separately). Shape into 1-inch balls. Flatten to approximately ¼ inch with bottom of lightly floured glass. Bake at 375 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes. Cool 1 minute and remove to cooling racks. Ice with frosting while cookies are still slightly warm. Sprinkle with Funfetti sprinkles immediately after frosting. Allow to sit a room temperature 30 minutes so frosting is not overly soft. Store in airtight container.

Great minds think alike, Esther. I was just going to ask BBY to post those recipes :)

By the way, it turns out that my little one who had the obvious ear infection actually has walking pneumonia. Poor baby. But of course, her mom is still bringing her to me for daycare tomorrow. There's a part of me that wants to say, "What is she thinking!" but there's another part that completely understands. I think I'll let that second part be the dominate part in this situation :merrychristmas

I started a thread but I wanted to post in here to to get an opinion.........my daughter lost her first tooth last night - she was very excited and we put it under the pillow and she got money - the whole ordeal. And the one next to it is loose also.

However, my concern is - she will just be 5 next month AND it is the top teeth and usually you lose the bottom teeth first.

Should I be concerned or just let it go since they are just baby teeth? I don't want to over worry but I don't want to overlook something that may need attention.

QE,

Just give it a little time and see. With different kids it can sometimes be different. My oldest lost his front teeth first but my middle didnt,, then there is my youngest and the front ones are the only ones she could lose on her own... the rest had to be cut out. Her gum line was busted as a baby (she fell on her mouth and believe it or not it is very easy to bust a gum line and not be noticed however most of the time it is very noticable Example would be teeth blackening etc..) so we had all of the others cut out this past summer and now she is our lil half toofless kid but they are growing in very quickly.... The drs said there was nothing wrong with the way Mikes did however and he told me that it just depends on the kid... so I would not worry about it but if you are concerned just call your family dentist or pediatrician and I am sure they can probably just give you some simple phone advice that would calm you :)

Thinking of Having Kids?
Do this 15 step program first!

Lesson 1
1. Go to the grocery store.
2. Arrange to have your salary paid directly to their head office.
3. Go home.
4. Pick up the paper.
5. Read it for the last time.

Lesson 2
Before you finally go ahead and have children, find a couple who already
are parents and berate them about their...
1. Methods of discipline.
2. Lack of patience.
3. Appallingly low tolerance levels.
4. Allowing their children to run wild.
5. Suggest ways in which they might improve their child's breastfeeding,
sleep habits, toilet training, table manners, and overall behavior.
Enjoy it because it will be the last time in your life you will have all the answers.

Lesson 3
A really good way to discover how the nights might feel...
1. Get home from work and immediately begin walking around the living room
from 5PM to 10PM carrying a wet bag weighing approximately 8-12
pounds, with a radio turned to static (or some other obnoxious sound)
playing loudly. (Eat cold food with one hand for dinner)
2. At 10PM, put the bag gently down, set the alarm for midnight, and go to
sleep.
3. Get up at 12 and walk around the living room again, with the bag, until
1AM.
4. Set the alarm for 3AM.
5. As you can't get back to sleep, get up at 2AM and make a drink and watch
an infomercial.
6. Go to bed at 2:45AM.
7. Get up at 3AM when the alarm goes off.
8. Sing songs quietly in the dark until 4AM.
9. Get up. Make breakfast. Get ready for work and go to work (work hard
and be productive)

Repeat steps 1-9 each night. Keep this up for 3-5 years. Look cheerful and together.

Lesson 4
Can you stand the mess children make? To find out...
1. Smear peanut butter onto the sofa and jam onto the curtains.
2. Hide a piece of raw chicken behind the stereo and leave it there all
summer.
3. Stick your fingers in the flower bed.
4. Then rub them on the clean walls.
5. Take your favorite book, photo album, etc. Wreck it.
6. Spill milk on your new pillows. Cover the stains with crayons. How does
that look?

Lesson 5
Dressing small children is not as easy as it seems.
1. Buy an octopus and a small bag made out of loose mesh.
2. Attempt to put the octopus into the bag so that none of the arms hang
out.
Time allowed for this - all morning.

Lesson 6
1. Take an egg carton. Using a pair of scissors and a jar of paint, turn it
into an alligator.
2. Now take the tube from a roll of toilet paper. Using only Scotch tape
and a piece of aluminum foil, turn it into an attractive Christmas candle.
3. Last, take a milk carton, a ping-pong ball, and an empty packet of Cocoa
Puffs. Make an exact replica of the Eiffel Tower.

Lesson 7
Forget the BMW and buy a mini-van. And don't think that you can leave it
out in the driveway spotless and shining. Family cars don't look like that.
1. Buy a chocolate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment.
Leave it there.
2. Get a dime. Stick it in the CD player.
3. Take a family size package of chocolate cookies. Mash them into the
back seat. Sprinkle cheerios all over the floor, then smash them
with your foot.
4. Run a garden rake along both sides of the car.

Lesson 8
1. Get ready to go out.
2. Sit on the floor of your bathroom reading picture books for half an hour.
3. Go out the front door.
4. Come in again. Go out.
5. Come back in.
6. Go out again.
7. Walk down the front path.
8. Walk back up it.
9. Walk down it again.
10. Walk very slowly down the sidewalk for five minutes.
11. Stop, inspect minutely, and ask at least 6 questions about every cigarette butt,
piece of used chewing gum, dirty tissue, and dead insect along the way.
12. Retrace your steps.
13. Scream that you have had as much as you can stand until the neighbors
come out and stare at you.
14. Give up and go back into the house.
You are now just about ready to try taking a small child for a walk.

Lesson 9
Repeat everything you have learned at least (if not more than) five times.

Lesson 10
Go to the local grocery store. Take with you the closest thing you can find
to a pre-school child. (A full-grown goat is also excellent). If you intend
to have more than one child, then definitely take more than one goat. Buy
your week's groceries without letting the goats out of your sight. Pay for
everything the goat eats or destroys. Until you can easily accomplish this,
do not even contemplate having children.

Lesson 11
1. Hollow out a melon.
2. Make a small hole in the side.
3. Suspend it from the ceiling and swing it from side to side.
4. Now get a bowl of soggy Cheerios and attempt to spoon them into the
swaying melon by pretending to be an airplane.
5. Continue until half the Cheerios are gone.
6. Tip half into your lap. The other half, just throw up in the air.
You are now ready to feed a nine- month old baby.

Lesson 12
Learn the names of every character from Sesame Street , Barney, Disney, the
Teletubbies, and Pokemon. Watch nothing else on TV but PBS, the Disney
channel or Noggin for at least five years. (I know, you're thinking What's
"Noggin"?) Exactly the point.

Lesson 13
Move to the tropics. Find or make a compost pile. Dig down about halfway
and stick your nose in it. Do this 3-5 times a day for at least two years.

Lesson 14
Make a recording of Fran Drescher saying "mommy" repeatedly. (Important:
no more than a four second delay between each "mommy"; occasional crescendo to
the level of a supersonic jet is required). Play this tape in your car everywhere you
go for the next four years. You are now ready to take a long trip with a toddler.

Lesson 15
Start talking to an adult of your choice. Have someone else continually
tug on your skirt hem, shirt- sleeve, or elbow while playing the "mommy" tape
made from Lesson 14 above. You are now ready to have a conversation with
an adult while there is a child in the room.

This is all very tongue in cheek; anyone who is parent will say "it's all
worth it!" Share it with your friends, both those who do and don't have
kids. I guarantee they'll get a chuckle out of it. Remember, a sense of
humor is one of the most important things you'll need when you become a
parent!

Carey, you are right - - with all the changes in my life the past few years I just keep wanting it to "feel like Christmas" and I realize I'm the only one that can make that happen. It's not all about the kids either - we all love Christmas and because we aren't kids anymore makes it all so different. However, doing things for your kids will help you too!

That's what I'm doing. This is my first year that I've been completely alone and don't have someone home with me, but I've not let it change one thing.

I have all my decorations up, I've been cooking/baking and tried to do everything I was invited to so it'd fill in the void for me. Now, I'm busy getting prepared for my kids to "come home" - wrapping presents, making food for us to eat the next few days, listening to Christmas music or watching Christmas movies and anticipating them kids getting here!

It's what we make it. I hear your sadness in your post - - get up off your duff and start baking those cookies and playing that Christmas loud!!!!!

Love ya!

Take them to another lonely person or give as a gift to your landlord, postman, elderly neighbor!

Eat a couple yourself before spreading the cheer!

Love ya!

Renda, it must be hard to have your kids married and not at home anymore, especially the very first Christmas. At least they are coming home...:rudolph

I've been baking, listening to Christmas music and making candies, the tree is up, the presents are wrapped...but for me it's always been the family get-together on Christmas Eve, it was the highlight...and I cannot really re-create that out here with the 7 us. I am somewhat disappointed that we will not have a ham this year either...our guest does not do pork AT ALL...so we are having roast beef...that is so un-christmasy!!! LOL

Love ya too...will be thinking of you on Christmas!

Well, I'm encouraging to do it!

Little secret of mine - it's hard to get down or feel sorry for yourself when you are encouraging others!

I've done this for years...it feels sooo good to give a little to others.

I understand. That all has changed for me too. My ex's family is loud and big and they all still love me, but I won't be with them for Christmas and since my mom has passed on, things are different there too. I miss the extended family gatherings!

I'm just trying grasp that now I'm the family and I want to make it where my kids want to always come back "home" with me even though we are small. I will be going to my Dad's on Christmas and there will be 11 of us, so that's better than just the four of us the whole time.

Take the kids out driving around to see all the lights and decorations - - Chicago should be lit up like a Christmas tree!

I love looking at the decorations - I haven't done that yet, so maybe I'll do that tonight before my daughter comes in - - she won't be interested in that at all - lol!

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas. I'll peek in over the holidays as time allows... hubby is off work till Jan 2 and we have a lot of little odd jobs we're hoping to get finished around here while he's off work. If I can guarantee he knocks items off the honey-do list by staying offline myself and helping get them done... I won't be online. :D

Christmas was wonderful, my children came with their children and we laughed and played and opened presents, we ate and just loved being togeather.

And I made my New Years resolutions early, began the day after Christmas and for two entire days I have monitored carefully calories and exercise.

This would be a lot easier if my church did not have church fellowships two plus times a month. We have womens ministry meetings and Golden Harvestors meetings and Pastor appreciation and and pastor birthday and pastor and Mrs. Pastor anniversary. We have Christmas fellowship and Eastor and Thanksgiving fellowship. AND DH and I have made so many wonderful friends at so many different churches and he and I get invited to these same fellowships at other churches. Church women can cook so good, and the food is so hard to resist. I pray for strength to be moderate in all things.

We had a great Christmas also. Lots of family, lots of food, lots of gifts, lots of fun.

And last night we went to see the National Treasure sequel and then today went to see Alvin and the Chipmunks. Now I'm baking my youngest son's birthday cake. Then I have to go and pick him up so we can do gifts and cake.

WHEW!! Does it ever stop???? Or even slow down!!!

Good Morning
I look forward to coming here and reading what you all are doing. Thank you for including me in your life and letting me have a peek at your day.

My dd usually has Fridays off but because of the holiday she was asked to come in so I have the baby today. She actually came last night with the baby and they spent the night. It is always such a joy for her and baby to stay overnight.

I woke up at 5:30 this morn. hungry to start my devotional. It was probably God reminding me that if I wanted to spent some quiet time with Him I needed to get up. I spent a few wonderful minutes praying and reading the bible and I heard a little voice say-"mama mama wey A-mama" Baby talk for "Mama, where's grandmama" and my heart swelled thinking how sweet he mentions grandmama second then he said something that sounded like "she has my thomas the train." lol Serves me right for getting proud.

Today

Dd has left for work and I have put in his thomas the train dvd movie. Hubby is off work this week and he is sleeping late.

Now baby has brought his new car "number 24" race car to me and he is pretending that he is driving it in circles. Must be a guy thing.

Have a great day everyone

My hubby is off this week also, and he is still sleeping....really I think he could sleep around the clock! I think its partly depression, but getting him to admit that...well ok it probably won't happen. His dad was on anti depressants for years...

I am hoping we can get out a bit today, we have been in the house for a few days now and I need some outside activity...

we bought an electric blanket for our bed, finally after years of climbing into a cold bed!!! Oh last night it felt sooooo good to get into that warm snuggly cacoon...we are going to go and find one for the guest bedroom today...for our poor friends who have suffered with out a word...lol.

God is good and I am blessed........I pray you are too everyone!!!

Hello everyone- Adia you are a welcome addition to our gang! I spent yesterday taking Christmas down, packing it away and straightening the house. We are closing on our condo in Shreveport next week- I get to shop and decorate a new place! Something I love to do. We are going to drive up on Jan. 2 inspect the place and then close on Jan. 3rd. We are planning on bringing the bed with us and a couple of lawn chairs and a small TV. We will be camping until I can go shopping and get the furniture delivered. We will probably be there for 3 or 4 days this time. Then come home and make another trip up there to bring some of our extra furniture.
God has been so good to me! I have been reflecting on the year and I want to praise HIM for his love and care. Got to run. Check in with you later.

It's been fun to read about everyone's Christmas holiday and just share experiences with one another.

We had a quiet Christmas...but I really enjoyed my kids this year! Our two younger boys got legos and playmobiles...I sat and played with them both for quite awhile, it was fun and relaxing. We also read each night on my bed...these are memories I can always look back on! Our two oldest really enjoyed their gifts this year...they were so thankful and for that I'm grateful. My husband and I did not exchange gifts this year and that was good...we have each other and that's all we really need.

I got a return phone call from STS's hubby and that made my day! We talked and laughed just like old times... :)

My dh was also depressed for years. I did not understand at all until I got a computer and started researching some of his moods. His moodiness was getting worse and I reserched and found out that vitamin B would help. He has been taking it for about 3 years and most of the time it is like an entirely different person.

If he is already taking it get him to up the dosage some.

I hope this helps him (and you).

I feel that through all that happened (the death) I have gained some patience with myself, and a little wisdom. I realized that the torment that I felt was Satan causing me to feel anxious. And then I realized that God is in the midst of my praises and Satan flees when God is near. So everytime Satan threw the depressing thoughts at me, I just began praising God for being so wonderful to me. And my joy and peace comes flowing back. God is good.

Good Morning.

I have been reading this thread, but have never posted.

We just recently moved back home, and purchased a home.

My husband had only seen the house once before going off to training then onto Iraq.

Before the children and I moved in, we had the remodeling done.

We have been here since the end of July, and I discovered I was not crazy about the colors in my dining room and kitchen, (just decorated in June)

So....Christmas day mom came down and we recovered my dining room chairs, and little by little I am working on the kitchen.

It is just a matter of going with a different color.

I want to get everything done before Jan 5, 2008, since my husband will be home for a 2 week vacation. (He then returns to Iraq until around April.)

Hope everyone has a good day.Sis welcome to Gabby's glad to have you here....having your hubby in Iraq must be very hard for you....In what state are you living? You must be close to family and that is very good...how many children do you have? Boys, Girls?

Bless you sis...and your husband too...I have such deep respect for military people...I used to be a army wife, and my husband is a vet....

Yes, I do keep busy with the house, and my children.

Today my son and I played and sang for an hour or so.

My son got a new bass and amp for Christmas.

sI play the piano and he plays the bass, and what a "time" we had.

The little one sings with us, (when she has time :lol).

Yes, we are glad he is coming home.

The Lord knows how I have worried about him.

I do not always worry, as there are times when I "put" him in God's hands, and I receive peace of mind, (as it should be).
Then I have times that I begin to worry, especially if I have not heard from him in awhile.

...but....God is our refuge, a strong and mighty tower.....He is good all the time!

Lord Bless !

I cherish the times when my daughter and I used to play together. She played the flute and I played the keyboard. We also used to turn the car sound system up on high and sing to the top of our lungs. We would laugh and laugh together. Every once in a while now, we will get in the car and one of us will turn the volume up......and we just have a good time together. Seems like as I am typing this, it comes to mind that we are due for a time like this, the next time we are in the car together. They grow so fast and before you know it they are out of the house doing their own thing and you hardly see them anymore. At least not near as much as you'd like to. Thank you for the welcome.

We are back home (my home state) in Ky.

Yes, my family is very close, and my husband is like their son.

My 2 children are the only grandchildren.

My son is 14 (although he looks as if he is about 18).
When we visit churches, all the girls think he is older.

My little girl is 5.

My mom and dad have been down several times this week to help me wrap up a few loose ends around the house, (hanging curtains, putting down molding in the kitchen, around the edge of the wood floor.)

Mom and I made the curtains for my little girls room.
We made pink balloon shades with black ribbon trim with pink polka dots.
Her quilt is black and cream toile, and the dust ruffle is black with very bright pink polka dots

My dad wanted everything to be done around the house, when my husband returns home, so he can rest.

I am changing the wallpaper in my kitchen.

I am going with brown, creams, taupes, and just a small amount of blue.

I have a french country thing going on in the kitchen.

Well, sorry if I "tired" you out with all of that work.

Lord Bless !OH sis it sounds wonderful....and you must have very good parents...you are blessed for sure....

your daughters room sounds so cheerful and bright...I bet it fits her. Your son is at a good age to help his mom, I hope you are very close. My son is all grown now and we are such good friends...he is a real blessing to me.

I will put you and yours in my prayers!!

We really enjoy playing and singing together.

My son loves to play the bass, and plays it in church.

Last Christmas I bought my little girl (4 yr old then) a Les Paul Peewee Electric
Guitar.
I think she may learn to play later on down the road.
Ever so often she "plays" my piano.

We are making great memories.

These are things our kids will remember, and will tell their kids.

I agree, I don't want my kids to move away.

My son is in the 10 th grade, and we discuss college.
We also discuss his work for God.

He felt the call to the ministry, and plans on either being a pastor or evangelist.

Either way I told him we will help him in his work for the Lord.

Everyone needs a good amen corner.

I think Mom's make the best "amen" corners, don't you ?Yes

Yes, they do. I know that even when I knew I didn't do a great job, I could count on my Mom to encourage me. Some would say that is not healthy to give praise when it is not earned, but I think a kid, and even a grown up kid has to have a place or a person that they can go to where they KNOW they will be encouraged. You can always find someone who will give negative feedback, but I always know that my Mom is going to be a positive influence. Not that she can't give good critical advice when that is needed as well, but she is a very positive influence in my life. I hope and pray that I can be like her for my daughter.

Good morning to everyone,

My g-baby is not coming today, sob, I do miss him when he does not come here to play with me. lol He is a handful and busy all the time but he makes me smile and surely gives me a good workout with chasing him and walking with him outside, at the park, etc. And lets not forget the 25 times a day when he says " up, ama" and of course I always pick him up even iff it is only for a few seconds. And he weighs 32 pounds. He is tall for his age, almost as tall as a lot of 4 yr. olds. Dr says he is in the upper percentile with his height and weight.

Sorry for the Grandma talk, sometimes I just can't help myself.

We had two deaths in our church yesterday. And I am the person to call the florists to have flowers delivered to the funeral home. No one knew where one was going to be at. So I call the locall funeral homes and the name was not familiar to them -had to call a familyl member and I did not want to have to do that at their time of mourning, but it had to be done. Finally located the right place, called the florist and set up time and place for flowers to be delivered. Mentally stressed cause it should not be this hard to find which funeral home would have the body and it was not in the obit in the paper.

I am also on the food committee and I will be preparing deviled eggs and green bean casserole, and will have that at the church at 3 this evening and then tonight will be the small gathering at the funeral home, and then a small service in the chapel.

On to happier news, I had been praying for some help with g-baby because his parents are having such a time paying all their bills. Even though g-baby is 26 months old they are still paying hospital bills because of emergency c section and baby had some difficulties and they had to stay in hospital with some surgery issues and on and on. I am so happy that they are both ok now. They had insurance but with a deductable and they are paying monthly on all the extra bills and it is a hardship. And baby needed new clothes and age appropriate books and toys.

Last night someone called me and asked so timidly if I would be insulted if they gave grandbaby some clothes that her son had out grown. Isn't God good? He provides our needs and we are all so blessed.

Not only that but----
Dh and I had have been trying to go to another church. Long story and I won't go into it but we had tried before several times and each time I have felt the Lord tell me to go back. Yesterday I had decided that I was going to find another church I just can't keep on being put down by my family that goes there. I had not talked to God about this, I just decided to go. When out of the blue the lady calls me about the clothes, and then she said be sure to be in church Sunday so I can give you the clothes for baby. ---I really need to talk to God BEFORE I decide to do something because He may have other plans.

Have a good day everyone

Mom is that way.

She is very encouraging.

At church, "WOW" ! They always want her to testify, and there is never a discouraging word.
She is one fiery lady

At one time we lived about 700 miles from home.

My mom, dad, and sis would travel every holiday to be with us.

One year for my birthday, my dad had my sis to drive him down just to bring me a gift, (self propelled lawn mower).
He knew I had been working in the yard (since my husband was working so many hours) and he wanted me to have a mower that would be easier to use.
They arrived on a Sat. afternoon, and took me out to eat for my birthday, then had to leave early the next morning, since my sis had to be at work the following day.
Mom was unable to make that trip since it was going to be rushed.
She would come down when they had longer to stay, so she could rest in between traveling.

Thanks for sharing about your mom.
I pray often for long, healthy years.
My children are young, and they are so close to my parents.

We are all so glad to be back home !

I never mind talking about my parents. I owe them so much. They give and give and give, and never want us kids to do anything for them. The greatest example of Christ that I know. I pray that you will soon see the salvation of your Dad. Don't lose heart, we just had an elderly woman get baptized, who for years and come to church with her husband but for some reason she had never made a move for salvation. Her husband has been serving God for many years--over fifty. They just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. And, after all these years, she decided she needed to be baptized. God is faithful!

My newly married son was sick last Sunday night at 2:30 a.m. in the morning. He ran to the bathroom throwing up and called out "MOM!". It woke up my DIL and she said she just smiled and went to see what she could do.

Of course, she called me at 2:35 a.m. not knowing what to do.

They will always need us!!!!!! LOL!

Dear Sis. Adra,

I haven't been on this thread for a good while but last night I thought

I would browse here. Saw where it looked like you had found a comfortable

place here. That is so good. So thankful you are doing better as I never

forgot your plea for prayer one Sunday morning not long ago. I have prayed

for you as it seemed I felt your pain that morning. God IS indeed SO GOOD!

I also am a mother (6 adult children) and a grandmother (19, will be 20 in

March. Another boy which will make 15 grandsons and 5 granddaughters.)

Being the eldest daughter of eleven siblings (lost our first brother in Sept.),

you might think I would be tired of children, especially babies, but that is

not the case. With each newborn our love just grows to cover that little

one. Children are God's heritage. Jesus said of little children, "of such is the

kingdom of God". He also said that "Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom

of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein". The Heavenly Father

loves little children. The Father (Spirit, Deity) loved His children, creation)

through Jesus and now He loves them through us, His people.

Sis. Adra, didn't mean to say so much but....did, Anyway, God bless you

real good and your family.

Oh, one more thing.......

Yes, you are wise to consult your LORD before making important decisions.

There were times through the years it seemed a change would have been

good but could never find a place to do so. Now almost 50 yrs. later, my

husband of 48 yrs. and I are still here....with five of our six adult children

and their original spouses, and 15 of our grandchildren. One son and spouse

and their four children go to an apostolic church near their home about

15 miles away in another city. His business is in our city. Yes, I am so glad

we stayed put and our roots grew way down deep toward the Rock.

Blessings,

Falla39

Yes, they do. I know that even when I knew I didn't do a great job, I could count on my Mom to encourage me. Some would say that is not healthy to give praise when it is not earned, but I think a kid, and even a grown up kid has to have a place or a person that they can go to where they KNOW they will be encouraged. You can always find someone who will give negative feedback, but I always know that my Mom is going to be a positive influence. Not that she can't give good critical advice when that is needed as well, but she is a very positive influence in my life. I hope and pray that I can be like her for my daughter.I agree with you ..... I don't want someone to lie to me, but I sure want to feel someone cares and supports me...a parents approval when we are kids is worth more than most realize....I sought my parents approval and acceptence but never got it until it was too late....parents have the strongest infulence in a childs self esteem....

You are blessed....that is wonderful....I love my mom, but she is not a very good mom, sadly she is not a happy person...I have had to forgive a lot...

Hi gals and Brad (oops, I mean Ron)! We have spent two days rearranging nearly all the rooms in our house. We turned my daughter's old room into Guest Room #1 with a king size bed. We turned my son's old room into Guest Room #2 - both upstairs. We moved the twin bed into the loft with the sofa and loveseat and it can be an optional overflow Guest Room #3, if needed.

We took the couch from our bedroom and moved it into the former Guest Room #1 (downstairs) and I now have my very own "girl room" next to Eddie's "man room". I get to have a comfortable place to read, plus a huge TV, plus a place to have my sewing machine out and my laptop. It will be my little haven. Now I'm glad that the house didn't sell!!! Having all these rooms has turned out to be a blessing.

I rarely watch TV, but I just inherited the big screen, because Eddie just bought a big new HD flat screen for the other room. BUT.....I have a whole slew of old videos that I want to see on the big screen. They are of old Christmas programs, special services, etc. when my kids were small. I will probably just sit in that "girl room" and cry!!! Good tears though.

Good Sunday Morning

I am going to make this quick because I need to go start some more cooking for another family of deceased. Another Lady passed and so we will get togeather enough food that the family will not have to think about cooking.

Speaking of a girl's room---I have a huge guest room it has my computer in it, and a tv hooked up to cable, it has my treadmill and my exercise bike and a square stabilized area for my floor exercises, and my arobics. (I try to do something every day).

I want to paint this room a sunny yellow and put a flowered wall paper border around the room. The quest bathroom is going to be painted a light green with a green reed motive wallpaper and and small butterflys scattered about.

I can see it in my mind, just a matter of getting dh to do the painting and I will do the rest. I can't seem to paint. I worked with him when the children started to school years a go. I had more paint on me and my hair than I did on the walls. He said kindly perhaps I should stay at home in case the children needed me. lol

Have a great Sunday

Good Morning everyone.

I am glad to be up and about this AM.

God is so good to us.

It won't be long and my husband will be home for 2 weeks.

We are all excited, since we haven't seen him since the first of Aug.

He is so excited, and so ready to come home, that he's almost to the point of not being able to sleep. :penguin

He will leave Iraq on Jan 3rd and arrive in the states Jan 5th.

He can't hardly wait to go to church.

I saw where Sherri has been moving things around.

I love doing this, but it's usually the living room that get's moved the most at my house.

Wish everyone was here, and we could sit down with a cup of coffee, (tea, water...) and it wouldn't be long and I think we would have everything "solved" in the world

Blessings to all, and have a great day !I can only imagine how you both must feel....when I was young it was waiting for loved ones to come home very Viet Nam....these days will pass slowly and when he gets home they will fly by!!! We of course don't expect to hear from you for a couple of weeks when he gets home...

Happy New Years Day

A new year and a new month.

I am so excited about this year. It is like a clean chalkboard and I can write what ever I choose on it.

I have made several resolutions, I am going to go to more church functions. I am going to actively seek out the "open to all" occasions and gather as often as I can with others that seek and worship God.

On the thread about going to church I said that I used to go to bars often and now I go to church often. BUT I searched my mind and I find that in the past I sought out worldly pleasures more than I seek out the Godly pleasures. I pray every day and I read the bible every day and I study on the Sunday School lesson nearly every day. I listen to Gospel music only and I do not read anything worldly for entertainment purposes, (no Stephen King, no Robert McGammon), and I stopped watching a lot of the shows that I used to enjoy. But I used to seek out friends that drink and went to bars and I just led a sinners life.

I am a Christian now and I should put just as much effort in serving God as I used to do in not serving Him.

So that is resolution number one.

Number two is try to get healthy by eating right and exercising. I hope in the process to lose weight. Did you know that of all the people that make resolutions losiong weight was the number one resolution of the majority of people?

So many small things I need to work on , I have often heard we are a work in progress, I am glad that God does not give up on us as easily as I want to give up on me.

I must learn to let the past go. I have prayed and I have left it at the feet of Jesus only to find that I have sneaked back and picked it up AGAIN and am worrying over it like a starving dog with a bone.

I must train myself not to jump to conclusions. Dh is a quiet man, slow to speak, and over the years I have learned to read his actions and reactions. BUT sometimes a raised eyebrow is just a raised eyebrow.

So many more but I think I have beat myself up enough for one day.

So how many of you are having the traditional new years day foods ? And because we all live in different areas what are your traditional NYD foods?

Here in the south, we traditionally have black eyed peas, hog jowls and turnips, and cornbread. I thought we were going to have breakfast for supper last night at the night watch but we had all of the above mentioned food. I put a small amount of each on my plate but I left most of it. Now the strawberry fluff was delicious.

love you all
Have a happy and safe day

Sister Truth Seeker

Good Morning Sis Adra...I don't make those resolutions any longer, because as you said we are a work in progress there for I am changing and being worked on all the time!

Yes this is a new year, a new day and I am thankful for life sweetly given by our precioius Lord...I am so blessed.

We don't have anything tradional really for new years day....but I do like to make ham and beans because we usually have left over ham from Christmas...but it will probably be tomorrow before I do that. My sleep pattern is a mess because hubby has been home for several days on vacation, so we have stayed up late and slept in late! He goes back to work tomorrow...uck! We have to get up at our normal time which is dark outside...and the old routine again! I am not complaining really I am thankfull he has a job!

Well I have not had my coffee yet so I gotta go and get refuled!

Have a blessed day all and a great beginning to the new year!

Well did everyone have a good day? It was just gray here all day, but I have sunshine in my heart....how about you all...did your first day of the year start it off right or are you having a bad day?

I realize the day is not over yet .......but it is evening now...hubby has watched football, hockey, and not sure what else today...I have been here at the computer for the most part...lamenting the end of our vacation some, but also ready to get back to the routine, our house needs me!!! I need to do laundry, and just tidy and run the vacuum!

I have had some great converstions with with a couple of great friends that live tooooo far away, and that was awesome....I have had lots of sweet smooches from my hunny, or should I be telling you that? Talk to my sis last night just after mid night so that was wonderful....I think the new year is starting off great..

Well, since our receptionist just came in I can take a few minutes I suppose! :christmoose Jasmine had a really really good Christmas (so did Ariel) they got so much that we don't know where to put half of it! Lol! She also lost her other front tooth so, she is looking pretty toothless!!!!! Lol! Ariel is getting more and more brave by the day. She is standing on her own and trying to walk but not yet getting it but she isn't a bit scared to try again, she will just be 9 months on the 6th!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't really get much for Christmas but that is fine with me. We decided to hold off. We were out of town the week after and my hubby was going to buy me some clothes but I couldn't find anything - I was quite depressed. I seriously am going on a diet!!!! I am so tired of wearing the same handful of clothes over and over again. But that is going to change, I am joining our Weightloss Bootcamp here at work and hopefully by the time it is time to get the spring clothes out I will be a few sized smaller!!! :penguin

I am anticpating that this year will be a GREAT year all the way around. It started out on the right foot so far, lots of great things have been happening in our life and we had a little thing rise up that caused me and my hubby to have a good heart to heart talk the other day and I just feel that something Great is about to happen in 2008!!!!!

Hello everyone

It is cold here, the last time I looked it was 28 degrees with wind chill of 18. I know there are people at colder places than this but this is the south and we rarely have low temps. My heat pump has been blowing nearly all day.

Baby came early this morning, he received several "thomas the train" trains for Christmas and he plays all day long with them. He has been absolutely no problem. The only thing he wants is from me to go with him when he goes potty.

My dd and baby are going to spend the night cause she has to get up so early in the morning. I just said leave baby cause he don't need to be out so early and it is supposed to be even colder in the morning.

Now it is time for me to start getting bath took and church clothes laid out for baby and me.

I hope you all had a wonderful day.

Hello everyone.

It was our first day back to school, and we are back in the swing of things.

Brrr.....very cold here.

Wind chill last night was 0, temp was 14.

My kids are so excited, dad will be home Sat....it's almost here.

I did not hear from him yesterday, (which was odd) and I was getting a little worried, because as of today I had not heard from him.

We were praying, just in case something was wrong.

He called about 4:00 pm, and he had been very sick.
I last spoke to him Dec 31, and late that night he became ill.

He said he had a high fever, bad headache, and just felt bad all over.
He stayed in bed all day Jan 1, and finally felt better around midnight chow last night.

He was much better today, and his fever broke.

I praise God for His care.

I played twister with the kids, and I won !

Now remember I am 46....not bad ......

Blessings to all.

Have a great day Thursday.

Prays for him sis....and you too....so excited for you. How is the house coming along...will you have Christmas again when your sweetie gets home?

I have a little bit of paper to finish in the kitchen, mainly around the area over the cabinets.

I went with a cream and light taupe background, brown toile paper.
I have a brown cake plate and brown paper towel holder.
I need to go buy a few lt blue candles for the shelves over the sink.
The top cabinets are painted a french vanilla, and the bottom cabinets resemble "aged" cherry stain.

We completed the dining room, and I redecorated our room.

We have his big gift, (the leather chaise, it is large, prob seats two).
He will be surprised.

We mailed the small things to him in Iraq.

The kids have his 2 weeks planned out.....play, play and play some more.

They can hardly wait.

I am excited also, but I am very excited for him and the kids. Thanks so much sis for sharing with us...

Good Morning ladies. I actually got a good nights sleep last night!!!!!!!! Ariel did her usual getting up in the middle of the night for a bottle - she is a piggie - but I got to bed around 9:45 and she sucked her bottle down and went straight back to sleep so I felt great this morning other than I pinched a nerve in my back on Tuesday and it is still sore but I'll be fine. :christmoose

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays with their families.

It's been pretty busy around here. Hubby has been off work since Dec 24, and just returned to work yesterday. Just when I think things are gonna get back to normal-- and I can get back into my routine of things... my mother in law calls yesterday to announce that she will be here this afternoon. I love my mother in law, but more notice would have been nice. :D

I sent hubby to the grocery store last night to pick up a few things I needed so that I could cook a meal for them while they are here. Today I'm trying to make sure that everything is neat and in order. It's next to impossible to keep it that way, but I don't want it to look too "lived in".

I have part of supper in the crock pot-- and just have to cook a few vegetables later. I'm trying to decide if she'd be too upset if I don't fix them a dessert-- because we're dieting around here, and really don't need the leftover dessert. Hubby would feel obligated to eat it, and wouldn't just let me toss the leftovers.

I've still got to dust a few things in the living room, and vacuum the carpet here in the office-- so I better get back to work. It would be just my luck for her to show up earlier than she said, and me not have my work all done. :D

I always stress over them coming. Lord only knows why. They wouldn't care if the place was cluttered, and I fed them bologna sandwiches. It's ME that can't stand for things to be cluttered when she comes. I put WAY too much stress on myself. :D

Besides, she only gets here about twice a year... so I can deal with that.

I'm not so sure we'd have the great relationship that we do if she was close enough to be here on a regular basis. ;)

We had moved her and my FIL in our home so I could care for them, she passed away here, and I miss her so much...she was more like a mom to me than a MIL...she had three sons so was glad to have a daughter, her other DIL was not a very nice person, but mom did her best to get along with her...the third DIL came much later as my hubbys younger brother didn't marry until in his later thirties....so it was not the same. We saw that the other day. It was cute. The kids enjoyed it more than I did.

I hardly ever go to the movies, but over the last week I've seen "Alvin and the Chipmunks", "Mr. Magorium's Magical Imporium", "National Treasure 2" and now "Enchanted"

I liked National Treasure the best, followed by Mr Magorium, then Enchanted and finally Alvin.

But all were good. None of them were bad.

Thanks Sis Falla !

There has been a delay in my husbands trip.

He called about 4 pm (our time) and said they could leave out anywhere from 3 - 14 hours.

He will either arrive Sunday, Monday at the latest.

He was not upset, (nor were we).
We felt that maybe there was a problem, and we would rather they wait, and make sure everyone is safe.

God is good all the time !

I love the Lord with all my heart.

Sis. He's My Friend,

It is so good that you both were not upset because of the delay. For we

know that all things work together FOR GOOD to those who love GOD and

are the called according to HIS purpose! With that in mind, it's good to

trust and praise HIM in all things! I believe the prayers have prepared you

both to be able to wait patiently.

Blessings,

Kind of a sad day for me - - - I packing up everything in my second bedroom because it's my daughter's furniture and we are taking it to her to St. Louis next weekend.

They bought a house and close on it on Wednesday and need the furniture because her fiancé is going to go ahead and move into the house. She will join him in July after they are married.

Just a bit sad to see the last of any remnants of the kids things leave the house...........

I am hoping my hubby will take me to Wally World today and Popeys for lunch. We will have to go to Lebanon for this as our town has neither.

There are football games on today so I may not get him out of the house for awhile....

It's raining here too. I've finished my laundry for today... the house is still clean since we did a really deep cleaning for the inlaws to visit-- so I'm just sitting back and relaxing today unless something changes.

Samantha is very upset again today. They'd already cut her hours on her job, and she just called me because they changed the schedule for next week, and cut her hours again. They have her down for 14 hours next week. :( I told her that God will provide her with something better, to not give up.

Today I'm going to do some research and see if we can't find her some grants and just let her go on to school. It will mean that we have to take on her car payment and insurance, but I can't see her just wasting time and getting only 14 hours a week. She'll never get her car paid for at that rate.

I can understand why she's frustrated. She puts in the time at work, and all her money goes for her car payment and gas. She still doesn't have anything left to put in savings or spend on herself for anything.

On another note, I have an item on ebay that I paid $30 for new a couple of years ago-- used it for 6 months, then replaced it with something else. The last time I checked, there were 7 bidders fighting over it... 11 watchers on the auction, and the current bid price is $70 with a little over 3 hours left on the auction. It will be fun to watch the last few minutes on the auction. :D

Hope everyone has a great day. I'm not going to stick around the forum too much, because I want to go play a couple of board games with Kara & Michael. I'll check in again later. :)

Hi everyone,

I sympathize, rgcraig, my baby moved out 9 years ago. I hurt because of his absence. Soon though, he his wife and their baby moved next door, and I had the baby over a lot. And son and his wife came over often for meals and to visit.

Then the robbery, and dh and I moved, and dd divorced and moved in, then she remarried and 2 yrs. later had her baby and that is the one that I keep.

That was the cliff notes version of 9 yrs. of my life.

I have not been around lately because, we have had a very cold couple of days and our heat pump broke. We had a few space heaters and we closed of the computer room and the spare room to be better able to heat. The repairman is a friend of dh and he came out yesterday, and worked on it hoping he could fix it with out really replacing anything. It worked for about 30 minutes and then stopped. Repairman came out again this morning and replaced the motor and we finally have good heat.

I expected to have to pay a lot but he charged less than 300 dollars. Both days he worked about 3 hours. It is good to have friends. We do not take advantage of him and we have sent him other people that needed a heating and air man.

I would come into the cold computer room and quickly check Gabbys and a few other threads but it was just too cold to spend time in here.

Nothing else is worth writing here, oh oh yes -----dd brought me some chicken breast she got on sale for 99 cents a pound. now that is something to be excited about. ( I really need to start getting out more don't I ?)

Tomorrow is Sunday and I am looking forward to being in the church with my church family.

Well, it was my guest room already - I just was using her furniture (Caribbean from Pier One) and the room always stayed CLEAN! However, it's her furniture so it needs to go with her.

I've found a real pretty chest I'm going to put in there and I actually get to keep the bedframe to her suit, so I'll just have to purchase a mattress set and the dresser or chest.

I had all my linens stored in her dresser and all my picture albums in her amoire, so now I have to relocate all that.
Thinking about buying this:

Burrrrr...you poor thing...NO heat....yikes. I keep the thermostat on 67 here and we were sweats and socks to stay warm. I am trying to keep the heat bills down....

you do need to get some other interests girl if the price of chicken gets you all excited....:toofunny

Have a great Sunday sis....

Good morning

I had a wonderful morning in church, we had a visiting evangelist, Wayne Hodges, and he preached on Sitting in Gods House-headed for Hell. I am looking forward to hearing him tonight. He will be preaching up until Wed. night. Not only is his preaching annointed but he sings beautifully also.

I wish you all could be here to hear him.

Have a blessed Sunday everyone.

AmazingGrace,

nice picture of your kids. Thanks for sharing that!!

Renda, I really like that chest of drawers. VERY nice!!!!

We had a good service this morning. We have a new assistant pastor/youth pastor. He's a young guy (23) from Puerto Rico. This is the first time he's ever lived in a place where we get snow, so he's very excited about that. Today was his first Sunday here. They had the DS come and all the elders, the pastor, the DS and all of our youth surrounded him for special prayer for the installation service. After church, we had a fellowship dinner and then a 'shower' for Miguel. That was fun.

Now we're off to church again. Tonight we're having a dinner called "An Evening in Thailand". We have a family in our church who spent about 20 years in Thailand as missionaries. Our pastor and his wife, our new ass't pastor, and our church treasurer and his wife are all going to Thailand in a couple of months for a conference. So the missionary family is putting on this dinner in honor of their trip.

See you all when we get back.

AG - adorable picture!

I ended up liking this chest the best - the designs on the drawers match the headboard from Pier One good.

Woo hoo! I think I'm going to be the first one to spend the night in Renda's new and improved guest room. We are hoping to have a girl night in a couple weeks to celebrate her birthday (a little late). Eating, girl movies, more eating, etc. Can't wait! It will be just like Bible college, only we are much older and wiser.:happydance

Good Morning Ladies! It is a dreary day here. It is rainy (but warm!!) and I only got about 3 hours of sleep and the worst part is that my hubby left this morning to go to BOTT and he will not be back until Saturday. :sad:sad:sad I hate it when he is gone especially for that long! And I am so spoiled with him helping me with the kids and around the house that I am truly going to be stressed by the end of the week and wore out!!! I dont sleep well when he is gone and then my lil 9 month old WEARES me out!!! She is quite a handful these days.

So, if you could please keep me in your prayers, I'm gonna need it!

Girl nights are so much fun...a few weeks ago I stayed a couple of nights with my sis...and we were in the car laughing so hard we were both wetting our pants which made us laugh even more...and she couldn't drive...thankfully we were not in heavy traffic...it was one of those times when your laughing so hard over nothing really, and the harder you try to stop the harder you laugh, I was trying to talk to my hubby on the phone finally I gave up...told him I would call him later when I was under control again!!!

This is the hard part of being in the ministry. The wife has to work full time and be mom full time and can't get all the benefits of being in the ministry like taking off to Bott.

Hang in there!

I know! It gets so frustrating! There are so many things to go to in one year and I only have so much vacation time!!! :ohplease Maybe someday.........our district youth leader wanted him to go and work at the church camps this summer also and I was like "no way"!! There are enough events that we go to in a year and that he goes to on his own, until I am more free to go with him he has to draw the line!!!! LoL!!!! I don't think he really wanted to go anyways! We go this month before the board for him to get licensed....I am VERY nervous about that!!!

Well now that I have a couple of minutes to post I guess I will LOL..

Its been a whirlwind week last week! Hubby got home on Christmas night so we had a nice relaxing Christmas week and then on Monday of last week all crazy broke loose LOL... The kids wanted to go here and there and everywhere and of course we let them LOL... they had a fun Christmas vacation and thats what we wanted! My daughter was really upset on New years tho because our son goes to the church school so he has a lot more interaction with our church youth especially his age and they all were having parties etc so he went and she felt pretty left out so we had our own little party here at the house NOT on new years but she still had fun. She was really missing all her friends from OKC so I sat down with her and made her take the time to call them all and she loved that. Seems like even the kids are so busy now days that they dont have time to just sit and do the fun stuff then we shopped yep... Then came home rented a movie and ate popcorn and had a blast!

My husband had some bible studies over the week and 3 of them were here in our house so we just kind of played all that by ear.. if we got our house fine if not we left and let him do his thing.. its all good its all for the Kingdom of God!

My dads house OH LORD let me tell ya... Its one thing to keep papers in case of a tax audit eventually but this man doesnt ever file long form much less well... He has more trees in his house then the yellowstone national forest!!!!! And I have been the one bestowed the honor of sorting out all them thar trees!! YAY ME!!! So I spent Tues Wed Thurs Fri oh nevermind... I spent most of last week over there doing that and since he has gone back to work this week I will be working the end part of the week (he is off every Wed Thurs Fri and Sat) over there every week until I get it done! I am on a roll cant stop now! I AM DETERMINED TO SHRED THE TREES!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

So then yesterday hubby left for Ms to take the kiddo home and well guess what?!?!?! ROFL Yall dont all laugh at once... And nope not near as bad as times past but... gotta call the landlord! The water is a leakin... Yep Now this is weird because I have seen it happen where if you have a slow drip it will with time become bigger but... Wed morning we noticed our shower start to drip and not stop and by last night it was like it was running slow nuff to well... like a slow run to fill a tub!!!!!! So then if that wasnt enough! The kids tub stopped up and aint going no where! Its done this twice and fixed itself... we snaked it and everything and notta! And then I go out to my garage this morning and there is a small puddle of watah!!!!! OH mercy! And when the hubby leaves of course but............ Thats ok... AG can handle this too! I ask Oh Lord no drama like last year in Jesus Name!! But this is the kind of drama I can handle with confidence knowing........ HAR HAR ... the Landlord can fix this!

SO I am off to go do some more laundry and pretend to do my wifely duties even tho I am single wifemom for 2 weeks again...

Why is it as soon as the man of the house leaves something breaks down...it has happened to me more than once...no not while he is home, but as soon as he leaves! I don't have a landlord so I am on my own....he has to come home...and take care of the problem what ever it is....................

A paper work...I though computers were suppose to help that...I have tons of paper I have to dispose of, file or forward, or what ever every day/week/month/year...its such a pain, but you have to keep ...I think its at least 7 years back...!!!

I hope you got everything taken care of.....

And I have 2 birthday parties to go to this weekend so one night this week I need to go out birthday shopping.....that will be fun! Jasmine birthday is next Saturday, she is so excited! She can't wait!!!! Of course she wants it all done in the Little Mermaid! Imagine that! :)

Well we got a call from one of our heart sons last night and he is coming home later this month for a job interview, I hope it all works out....we are very excited, then talked to one of my heart daughters and she may be closer soon, ahhh it does my heart good to have all the babies come back to the nest...that is my heart speaking....first I want what is best for them, and God's will....and if means they will be closer to grandpa and grandma...well I am not one to complain.....NO WAY!

You may be asking what is a heart son or daughter, it is a person young enough to be my child, that has adopted us as grandma and grandpa, and some call us dad and mom....no blood relation, just through the blood of Christ, and our love for each other.

Well we are waiting for a break in the rain....if it stays dry this am, my hubby is going to ride the big beautiful new Harley we bought home!!! Otherwise it will be deliverd no later than Friday late in the day! This bike is so awesome, and it is sooooo comfortable!!!!!

I will post pics when we get it home and the sun comes out so you can hopefully see how beautiful the color is...oh my word....its awesome!!

Good morning. I'm here today... spending a lot of time doing weather tracking. We're under a tornado watch again today. I'm watching a storm now that is too close for comfort to where my sister lives. They have issued tornado warnings near her area.

I didn't post in this thread yesterday, but I did update in the prayer request thread... I know some of the ladies here had been praying about my daughter's situation-- and I wanted to let you all know... SHE GOT THE NEW JOB!!! :D Another answered prayer.......... :) She loves the job... she says it is very easy. She's using a paint pen and filling in letters on the engraved "In case of emergency" signs that they put inside the elevators.

She's just amazed that with this job, she will be making almost as much in ONE DAY as she was making in a week at her other job. :D God is good!!!!

I'm going to just take it easy, and stay inside today and keep an eye on the weather... so I'll pop in and out today in between doing lessons with Michael.

Hope everyone has a great day! :)

Hello Ladies! I just came from the doctor's office - Ariel had her 9 month check up. All is well, she is in the 50th percentile for everything. Luckily she didn't need shots today. However I am very upset about something.....my doctor is leaving his practice & changing careers (staying in the medical field though) and I just don't know what I am going to do!!! I love him to death!!!!!!!!! We have known him since me and my husband were dating. My husband worked for him when he was a teen doing odd jobs/yard work and we have always "dogsat" for him and we trust him sooooo much!! He is so good to my little ones (and to our pocketbook). Now I am going to have to shop around for a new doctor I can trust with my little ones and hopefully find one within the network for my insurance. I am not worried about myself just a good doctor for them! We have a local Ped Center but don't know if they are in our insurance or not and I liked having a family doctor that was loving and kind and truly cared about our family. *SIGH* Life...it just happens. Lol!

Hello all - I have not been checking in lately- Been out of town and when we got back - I had lots of loose ends to take care of. It is storming here- the thunder has rumbled all day and now it is finally raining. We have had unusually warm weather, but are expecting a cold front after the rain passes through. Good Morning Ladies!!! This day is the PITS!!! I got NO sleep last night then over slept, I get up hurrying around and go to wash my hair in my kitchen sink and wouldn't you know it the pipes came apart underneath and water was going everywhere!!!! So, I had to deal with that and figure out how to get my hair washed - which I did! :) Then I left the house and forgot a few things I needed. I then FINALLY got to work after taking Ariel to daycare & Jasmine to pre-school and as soon as I get here there are a ton of problems and things that need done ASAP!!! I didn't eat breakfast in my rush and I didn't bring anything with me because I am dieting and I didn't have anything to eat on the go. So, I am at work feeling stressed and hungry!!!!! :reaction

Is it 5:00 yet??????? Thank God my husband will be home tomorrow and life can return to normal!

Hello all - I have not been checking in lately- Been out of town and when we got back - I had lots of loose ends to take care of. It is storming here- the thunder has rumbled all day and now it is finally raining. We have had unusually warm weather, but are expecting a cold front after the rain passes through. Maybe I should work for the weather channel!!!!
Hope all is well with you all.

I am so happy this is the last day and night to be alone. I feel sorry for single mothers after this week! It is tiring taking care of 2 little ones (especially a 9 month old) on your own! I think I got lots of exercise chasing after her though!!! :) I feel a little better now, I went on my lunch hour to buy my nephew his birthday present (tonight is his party) and I bought me a few things....I guess it was my stress reliever!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

When I get home after being on my feet sorting through racks looking for that thing I can't live without I am just plain tired....my feet are killing me by the time I get home and can put them up and get my shoes off. I am one of those gals that is bare foot most of the time all year round, I only put shoes on when I have to go somewhere!

OH I am glad it is Friday......means my sweetie will be home for a couple of days...tomorrow in the AM we have a breafast meeting with our HOG chapter, and then in the afternoon a bunch of us are piling into a motorhome and going to washington to a cycle show....should be fun, and interesting. Sunday hopfully the weather will break and a bunch of us are going to go riding if the rain has stopped!!!!

QE - Sounds like you had a hectic week capped off by a even hecticer? day. Sometimes, being apart really makes us appreciate the times we are together. I know your husband missed you, too.
I went shopping today, too. I am in the process of decorating the condo we bought a couple of weeks ago. I never thought I would get enough shopping, but I must say I did. After two solid days of going out and looking at furniture, bedding, lamps, kitchen supplies and all the other things it takes to set up a house, I was exhausted. After, those two days, I took a break, piled up in a chair and slept and watched TV. My husband questioned me about why I was being so quiet and still. I just told him I was tired!!!! I took a break from shopping for a couple of days and then got back to it. I think I am just about finished. It is a small condo, but when you are starting from scratch on furnishing, and living there ,too you have to get things going.
TS - hope you have a good weekend "Hogging around". Everyone - Have a great weekend.

I'm not a big shopper either but when you never buy yourself anything for forever and then you finally buys a few things it feels good! :happydance Of course I ended up going back saturday and returning what I bought on Friday.....but I found something else to replace it! :) And I searched all over for tennishoes for my daughter and I can't find what I am looking for at all!! Maybe I am being too picky, I don't know.....

My hubby finally made it home!! :happydance But unfortunately he has been sick all weekend. And I have to admit this morning I am not feeling the greatest myself. I am praying it is just due to my diet and not really sickness.

Well, classes start here at work today so it is CRAZY out here, I gotta run for now!

Have GREAT day everyone!!!

Good Monday AM to all.....yesterday we took the new bike out for group ride, it was COLD....under 40 and foggy, but NO rain. there were 7 hearty souls! Only two ladies~the rest of the ladies chickened out!

The new bike rides like a dream, NO PAIN! yeah!!!! I was so glad and so was hubby because there isn't any more delux bike. He said he was a lot more comfortable too so we are ready for a road trip now!

We had a great weekend with friends....Saturday we went to a "chopper show"...works of art, bikes that never see pavement! Amazing!

Today is tidy the house, go to cost co, and prepare for tomorrow, I am taking my mom for her second eye catarac surgery. So pray all that is goes as well as the first one!

Hope all have a wonderful day of blessing....be back later for a updates!

Good morning everyone! Hope everyone is having a great day.

The kids are all still asleep here. Michael will be getting up soon. He's usually up by this time. I am hoping that I can keep Michael quiet enough doing his lessons on the computer so that Samantha can sleep till about 2pm. She will start her regular work schedule this evening, which will be from 4:30pm till 3am. I hope I can sleep while she's working. I have trouble sleeping when all my kids aren't at home.

There's a lot I really wanted to do today, but I don't want to make too much noise and wake up Samantha. I'm going to have to adjust to this new schedule myself. It's different. I'll be glad when God blesses her again by moving her to the same shift that her dad is working. LOL

I've got to do some baking today, to make the desserts for the young at heart luncheon tomorrow.

What's everyone else up to today?

Morning Tina,

I know how adjusting to odd schedules can be... when hubby was working and we lived there... he would work 12 hr shifts and 1 week at night and the next week days and oh it messed w me so bad!

I am already exhausted and my day has barely begun... well not really but I had to stay up nearly all night last night helping son finish a 2000 word report on nuclear reactors then I had to go to my dads and print everything cuz my printer croaked! Then this morning my oldest gets up and waaaaaallllla... she comes to the computer.. when I asked her what she was doing... oh I wrote a report last week I need to print!!!!! O lord!!! so email to self again... go to dads AGAIN... print again... grandma asks 40 questions on why I am there... AGAIN.... oh yes its been a fun morning...Our pastors dad passed away and so I had to go clean the church for the funeral... was supposed to be there by 7 well that didnt happen!!! So I just got there when I could and helped them finish up and carry in the tons of flowers..

Now I gotta make my lovely calls to take care of this mess w son... but I think I am gonna take a nap first!

Yall have a good day... I may check in later

I'm glad you're being there for the youth when they have problems. I hope that if my teens ever feel they need someone to talk to like that, that they will choose their youth pastor. He's a great young man, and I believe he would advise them well--and just be there to "listen". He has given them all his cell number, and told them all to call any hour of the day or night if they need him. That means a lot to the youth to have someone like that to go to for advice.

I think a big part of it is trust. We have been over the youth now for 2 years I think, and it took time for them to be able to open up. I actually just got back from lunch a short while ago and one of the girls was here waiting on me! Lol! She was in the area and wanted to stop by and say hi and we ended up talking for awhile.

What a blessing to the young people that they have someone to go to for advice or just friendship. When I first got in the church I bonded with an older girl- 9 years -older. I think she may have been over the young people at the time. Anyway we have remained very good friends through the years. We have prayed for one another, council ed one another and laughed over tuna sandwiches with one another. It really means a lot to young people and the parents of young people to have someone stable and grounded to go to with their problems. Who knows you may be making friends with someone that you will need to lean on later in life!!!!!

Well, this morning was a NIGHTMARE getting ready for work. Jasmine kept whining that she didn't feel well and Ariel kept crying and nothing we would do would calm her down. Finally I felt on her gums which really caused her to scream so I then gave her some oragel and she finally calmed down and started acting normal. But it was a tough morning trying to get ready with her being in pain. FOr two nights in a row she has woke up screaming not just crying but like screaming, so I really really hope a tooth will show up SOON!!!!! Or I may pull my hair out!!!!

Ok, I am soooo aggervated right now. I have been trying to help a friend of mine with a situation she has been having and she seems to be responding well. She seems to be doing better with her problem and she thanks me all the time for helping her. We pray together at church, email back and forth, txt each other, I ask her all the time how she is doing. She always tells me that she is doing good. Then I find out she has been lying to me and acting like she has overcame her problem and she is still doing what she was doing in secret - not really secret bcause some people knew, but she was keeping it a secret from me. I am so frusturated. I am wasting my time with her, it's one thing if she really wants to change but evidentally she doesn't.

I don't know what to do. Still be her friend and act like I don't know - but quit wasting my time on the counseling or tell her outright that I know and that I am very disappointed. Now I know why the others quit couselling her, I just thought they didn't have enough patience!!! :search ANy advice?

I would put space between you and I would let her know you know....sis this is not a friend, she is lying to you...you can not trust someone who lies to you...she is making you look foolish and herself a hypocrite. Some people thrive on drama:drama...and use people up....

Well, we have never been close close friends - she a little younger than me and I think she just needed someone to talk to and I wanted to help her......boy was that a mistake!! And yes, I am starting to think that she likes drama!!! :drama I have decided that I am not going to try and help her anymore. I will be nice but I am not going out on a limb for her. She creates her problems, she will have to live with it. I just found out last night that another guy has been doing the same thing. Whining to me and my husband all the time about his problems - wanting attention and to be babies - and then doing things "in the secret" that are not very good things to be doing - it is outright sin. and then wondering why God won't hear his prayers! HELLO!!! Why would God answer your prayers when you are leading a double life and outright sinning??? I just don't get people. I will pray for both of them but I am not playing their little games anymore!

Sis you did the right thing by reaching out...not everyone really truly wants to change or get help, they just want attention...so again you did the right thing...they are just not ready to do what is right, and may never be....I try to put my energy towards people who are willing to do the work. The others are people who suck your energy, and wear on your spirit, and its just as well to stay away from them...like you said be nice, but be busy and don't get pulled into the drama. You have a good heart sis, don't let them spoil that...

I'm glad you're back posting.

I do read Gabby's every day-- but I often get sidetracked by one of the kids before I have a chance to post. Homeschooling demands so much of my time. I'm about ready to give them a week for spring break. The problem is that we just got started back good after the first of the year. I will have to wait till around Easter to give them another break like that. I guess I could let them have Monday off. All the public schools here have Monday off. :D

I'm going to log off soon. Hubby has to work tomorrow so I'm gonna go have prayer time, & then read for a while.

Have a great weekend! :)

Hello all- I think the same thing about my life when I sit down to post- What have I done that would interest anyone? I do enjoy reading about everyone else though- so I try to contribute here and there. I do want to share a blessing- God is so good to us all - sometimes we forget to praise Him just for the little things He does for us. My husband and I have been moving some furniture to the condo we purchased. We just got back from a trip there where we moved mantle he built, bed frame and headboard, and a credenza. Both times we have had to move this furniture, we had it planned out where we thought we could handle it - but both times there have been workers at the condo and they came up to us and asked if they could help us. This last time, we were there for four days and the day we arrived to move furniture was the only day workers were there!!! God is so good to us and cares for our needs even before we realize we have a need.

Tonight has been pretty mundane, but since you want us to post all the mundane things to keep everyone else from being bored, I will post it. LOL

I cooked supper-- Chili Dogs & Tater tots. So far off the list of foods I should be eating on this diet, but I was just too lazy tonight to do anything else.

I gave Michael a haircut. This was fun. NOT! Michael despises getting his hair cut. I'll spare you the details on that, but it wasn't pretty. :D

I'm just sitting here now relaxing, and entering a few more of those contests before I take off to play a couple of games with Kara or watch a movie. I told her to decide which she wanted to do while she's in the shower-- and when she's finished.. we can do something.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Not only do I get to attend my own church service-- but tomorrow evening, I will be visiting Toof's church in Corinth. I will have the special treat of getting to hear Bro Coonskinner preach. He's one of my favorite posters on the forum, and I've heard a couple of his messages online. I'm really looking forward to meeting Toof, CS and Lady CS, but I am also looking forward to hearing CS preach.

It cleard off enough yesterday for us to get a quick ride in! It was cold, but it was so refreshing and fun to buzz about for about 30 min. It took longer to get ready I think than the ride itself...lol....all the gear!

Well I have a lot of cleanup to do around the house today....booo....my dream would be to have someone to come and clean my house! I used to work so hard at it, but now days its just not worth it...someday I need to get inspired and move everything and do a deep deep clean, but it takes me forever....

Hello all- I had a busy day yesterday- We had to move some furniture that was mine that my nephew was using. We dropped by my parents house about noon, and their electricity was on the fritz. Now yesterday was pretty cold here - 27 at night and 50's during the day. The power company came out and said it was some worn out wiring- their house is about 40 years old. So the electrician came out and said it would be tomorrow before they could have it fixed. Everything has to be brought up to code - cha ching- My parents had to spend the night with us last night. My mother is in poor health and is not very mobile- so we scurried around to set up a generator at their house to make sure the refrigerator was OK- and gave them our bedroom and bath for the night. We made the night pretty good. I could tell my parents were tired this am, just being out of their environment and routine is hard on them. I am having lunch with a dear friend of mine- We worked together for 20 years- she was my mentor and friend- She has been fighting kidney cancer for 7 years- it has spread to her lungs - right now it is in remission. We try to get together at least once a month and catch up on everything. Please whisper a prayer for her, her name is Kathy. Well - I better sign off now- Have a great Tuesday-

Busy day yesterday catching up on everything that was let go over the weekend. At least today the house is all cleaned up, laundry is caught up so I don't have to do those things. I'm trying to figure out what I'm cooking for supper tonight. I need to get it done early because we have prayer meeting at 6pm, and youth service following prayer meeting at 7pm. Last week was the first official youth service with our new youth pastor. We had two young girls to receive the holy ghost in that service. I'm looking forward to the service tonight.

It's rainy and cold here today. I'm just praying that it clears off this afternoon and dries up a little. It's supposed to drop into the mid-twenties tonight. I would hate for all this to freeze on the roads. Samantha has to work from 4:30pm till 3am. Hubby is already talking about just driving her to work this afternoon and him going to bed early so he can be there at 3am to pick her up in case it does get icy. She's never had to drive on ice-- and we don't want her learning to do so at 3am!! Help me pray that it stops the raining and that this stuff dries up some so that it doesn't freeze over. That would be such a mess. People here don't know how to drive on icy roads...... makes for very dangerous driving conditions.

I've gotta run make lunch for Michael. We've finished up his lessons already today-- so he's going to have lunch, and watch a movie quietly while he lets Samantha sleep another hour or so.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hello everyone.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Please remember us in prayer, tomorrow morning I will be taking my husband
to Nashville to the airport, (destination: Iraq).

We had wonderful services while my husband was home.

Since we recently moved, and bought a home in a different location, we had been praying for direction in regards to church.

(My husband was also praying in Iraq.)

He has been home for 2 weeks, and was blessed to be in 8 church services.
The church had their regular services, along with a 3 night revival.

The church had a nice dinner ,in his honor, Sunday night.

Must go now, we have a few things to do today before he leaves.

God Bless everyone today !
Sis I have been thinking about you, and hoping all was well, it must be so hard to let him go again....I do not envy your place. I am praying for you, him, and everyone who is there or has someone they love there. It is a hard place to be....Bless you both so much and Thank you to your hubby and you too for the sacrifice your both making!

Friday Ariel was sick - and all through the weekend. We had Jasmine's birthday party also over the weekend! She is a big 5 now....sniff,sniff......and then Monday I was off work but sick as a dog. Tuesday I was off work because my husband and I had to go before the UPC board for him to get licensed (we won't know anything for sure for 2-4 more weeks, please keep us in your prayers) and Tuesday my hubby woke up with a terrible earache - it continued all day and all night, he was in tremendous pain and finally gave in today and let me take him to the doctor. He is now at home on 4 different drugs and in bed sleeping while I came to work for a few hours. :) as you all can see I am hard at work playing on the computer!!! Lol!!! :)

So, that sums up my last few days - how's everyone elses been???

QE- Sounds like you and your family have the winter crud!!!!!!! The media has been saying it is going around. When I taught school I would come down with it several times a year. When I left the classroom and went into administration, I came down with it about every other year. Now that I am home - I have not been sick with it at all- I can tell you from experience- that rest is one of the best things for it- But when we work, you feel like you have to keep going or if you do take off- you feel like you have to rush back - a vicious cycle. Well - I hope hubby gets to feeling better and I am sure the licensing board thing will come out well- But I will be praying for your family.

I had lunch with my good friend yesterday. She is doing very well- her cancer is in remission right now- She is in an experimental treatment program in Houston. So far she has responded very well. She has to be on continual antibiotics, because of a botched stint operation in a lung. If she gets pneumonia one more time she will have to have the lung removed. Her attitude is amazing - She is very upbeat and tries to enjoy life to its fullest - one day at a time. It really makes you count your blessings - Have a great day all-

I'm glad you're back QE! We missed you. Sorry to hear that everyone has been sick. That junk has been through our house too, and it seems like it takes forever to get rid of. I hope everyone in your house gets well quickly!

I've only been up for about an hour today. I didn't sleep well at all last night. I guess I just had too many things running through my mind. I did a lot of praying while I couldn't sleep. Maybe that's the reason I can't sleep. Maybe I need to pray more. :D

I finally went to sleep after Samantha came in from work about 3:25 this morning.... then got back up at 4:45 with hubby and got him out the door to work. Then I went back to bed at 5:30 and slept till 8:20.

I have a lot of things on my list of things to do today, but it's so cold here this morning I find it hard to move away from this little heater that I have sitting here by my desk. I knew I should have never gotten comfortable in front of the heater.

I really do need to get up and get some laundry done-- and at least make up my bed and hang up everyone's coats they left on the couch after we came in from church last night.

I'll check back in later. Hope everyone has a great day!

Hello all - I got a bee in my bonnet today and cleaned out a wet bar room off of the kitchen that has been collecting junk for 6 years!!!!! The piles of junk had worked on my last good nerve so I took action. I have been watching those organizing shows so I followed their tips. I took everything out of the room first - as I took it out I had a Goodwill box, a keep stack and I put things other places as I could. When I started putting things back I tried to organize them in categories. I even got the labeler out and labeled stuff!!!!! Now I have oodles of room in there to start stacking things again!!!!!!! I also have a couple more rooms to organize!!! Yuck!
