Most Pentecostal organizations (at least in their early days) took a strong stand against "secret organizations" like the Masons, etc. I was wondering, how do you feel, or how does your organization feel, about joining groups like the Masons, Shiners, the local Moose lodge, etc? Are some of the groups and/or their practices satanic? Just curious....

While most people probably regard these organizations as harmless 'good ol' boys clubs they are religious and one must take vows that are anti-christian.
Secret Societies are nothing more than tools of the Devil.
I don't think they are has harmless as you think.

Mason's are like anyone else ... just wanting to fit in. Unfortunately, it is very misguided. But aren't some fellowships "secret societies" in that you have to "drink the kool aid" to be one of them? Secret handshakes, no bowling, no golfing, no baseball, etc.. sounds like a bad summer to me.

My Dad is one and is always trying to ge me to join.
One benefit he did tell me about was that he was once stopped for speeding, but when the Officer saw his Masonic ring, he let him go. Boy could I use that!!!! :killinme :killinme :killinme
I do know that the Shriners do a ton of good for hurting children. But then while they're under the influence of anistesia, they warp these poor little kids minds.....Hmmmm maybe that's what happened to me......:killinme :killinme :killinme

We don't let anyone sign a ministry covenant in our church if they belong to a secret society. They can be members, but they cannot do any kind of platform ministry, teaching, etc. I don't even like fraternities for that same reason. I don't think you should take secret vows.

Why do you protest secret vows if you don't even know what vows are being made??
Masons encourage their members to believe in whomever the member sees as God.

I studied the Masons years ago....
The average Mason in your town has no idea what the Masons are about on a higher level. They work it just like all of the mystery religions have worked it through the milenia.
You are incrementally taught along the way.
I don't see where any Christian has any business joining anything that requres them to...
* Participate in a ceremony which you state you are "in darkness and seek light". Relationship with Jesus Christ is not darkness and the Lodge is not the light.
* Vow silence on anything under penalty of having your throat slit from ear to ear.
* Take part in the re-enactment of the death of Hiram Abiff which is strikingly similar to the ancient rites of Babylon.
and the list goes on.
