No I am not...I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal savior at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church in 1967, and was baptized in the name of the Father, son, and Holy Spirit. Thank God for the revelation of His name in 1969 when I went down in Jesus name for the remission of my sins and received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost and spoke with other tongues...been speaking in tongues ever since. So I am proud of by Bapticostal heritage!

I love you folks and I was just joking. I have two sisters that are Baptist...Just got in from the wedding...it was so sweet. Saw a lot of folks I know from other churches. Odd situations happen in life. The girl that just got married her father when we met him was just a rank sinner...Drinking, smoking, gambling man and very unfaithful to his wife.
His wife, such a sweet angel of a lady goes to another Pentecostal church in town and he came and worked for us as a builder for many years. A story too long to tell here but he go very sick and through the sickness he came to know the Lord and became a member of our church. Brother Alvear told him he could go with his wife but he said he wanted to come to our church.
His daughter goes to the Baptist church and married a boy from there tonight.
His wife does not care he prefers our church to hers because God changed him so much. Such a hard sinner became such a tender childlike caring person.

One of the largest Catholic churches in the world is located in Brazil. Thousands and thousands of people visit here looking for the answer to their problems. It is the dream of every Catholic to visit here at least once in a lifetime...

my grandson that has had 2 heart operations I was explaining to him if he had been born into idol worship his family would have bought a plastic heart to place before an idol.

My greatest joy is to see hem come to the Lord and watch them change. Right this minute a group of men left our home headed for the jungle. We have very precious people that Jesus has washed in His blood.

Our adopted son Michael and his wife and children. He and Rebecca are twins. We have had them since they were 5 days old. Their mother was going to sit them off on the street to die (commom here due to poverty) and a nurse called me to come pick them up!

The above lot is in the country of Paraguay. The overseer from this area called me this moring asking if I could raise 2000 dollars to help them build a tabernacle here. I already have 1000 on this project will you folks help me pray that we can raise the over 1000.

What a legacy of you and your family's burden for not only the work of God in Brazil, but of these wonderful people.

I am both filled will grattitude, and awe of the work that has gone on.

I also feel a little ashamed at what I have accomplished.

You are so welcome BUT we never could have done what we are doing without the support of you homeland friends...Just thought tonight I would share a few church pictures with you folks...I will put a few more on...but at least you have an example of what is going on all over Brazil. We like for people to see where their missionary dollars are going.

Awesome.My nephew has a commercial brick laying company.I have not seen
any like you are near.The buildings remind me alot of things you see in Florida
in some of the older sections of town and in Puerto Rico.

Someone asked me our greatest need today. Our son is up in the jungle with his van broke down. He needs your prayers and depends on the help of God´s people. Prayfor him. It is very dangerous where he is at.

Yes, I was and am asking God for funds for these many projects and especially help for the new jungle work.
Since we belong to no organization funds are difficult to come by and we refuse to be a political buddies to raise support because our calling and dream is to have a Brazilian church that will carry on after we are gone. Takes a lot longer and is a much harder life for the missionary but gives end results that are lasting.
Please pray for us the load is very heavy for the work is very big . We are deeply involved in church planting for eternity.

In the Sao Paulo area lots of our people have cars. In the northeast and other areas few have cars. When we began working in SP area 40 years ago no church people had cars. We taught for many years about the blessing of giving and gave classes helping the people know how to manage. Today we are seeing the fruits of those years. We are teaching up here and slowly the people are learning about God´s blessings and is promises also.
It takes time and progress. Brazil is a country of extreme paradox.
I deeply love our people and our home is always full of some of God´s beautiful jewels that He brought into our lives.

In our beautiful Maceio church we have one family that owns a car besides my son Michael and Arlei, son Ednei does not have a car neither does our son in law Chad.

I notcied all the cars in front of the building and was just curious about the situation of most of your saints. My Aunt is a Missionary to the Philippines and when I was 18 I was priviledged to be able to go over and live with her for about 5 months. It was cerainly an experience I will never forget. Their people had to rely on public transportation. I was in awe at the dedication from these people and the time and money that it took for them to be able to come to the house of God.
It's a shame that a lot of the people in America won't come to church if it's raining and they have a dry, air conditioned car to ride in. Then if service last longer than 2 hours they have to leave. Where is our committment and dedication!!

What does it cost to build a Building for Church there?

In Paraguay we need an addition 1000 dollars to put with the 1000 Sherri sent us. That would be a small home missions church. Someone promised 500 but has not come throgh with it. Sometimes things come up and people are not able to give how they wanted to and we understand.
In a jungle settlement that has asked for a church I can buy an adobe house and reform it for around 1500 dollars...of course in more advanced areas.
In our area in a village that needs a church I can get something going for 3500 dollars.

There are more expensive areas...We work in many poverty stricken areas.

There are lots of requests for help in some many places...Brazil is very ripe in it´s own way.

We helped out in the Philippines for maybe 7 years or so! It was an independent work....small world...

My mother was my biggest supporter and prayer warrior. The Lord took her to live with Him almost 3 years ago. She is buried about 5 miles from our home. She is now a child of the resurrection.

Yesterday I was blessed to work in the office most of the day so inbetween this and that of office work I posted quite a few pictures. Today I have 2 doctor´s appoiments and that could be an all day thing. I waited over 3 hours the other day on a doctor and he never came. Took my son to emergency room a couple weeks ago and they told us they had no doctors that night (typical of this area)...lines for doctors here...somepeople sleep in the lines at night to be there in the early morning.
I will post a few more pictures, I like for people to see what is going on here. Last night went with a group of sisters to one of far our (not in miles) but where it is at to speak to them. Brother Alvear drove us as it is dangerous in that area without a man with us. Thank the Lord that one of our boys went to where he was supposed to mimister so he could be with us. I had planned on asking my son Dirlei but something come up and he could not go and someone needed the good car so we took the car that runs sometimes...Brother Alvear is very protective of me and I am deeply grateful.

We had a wonderful service. God is so good. Pray for us and we love you precious homeland supporters. Sister Alvear

We are very excited what God is doing in the jungle land but it is very primitive and requires all your strength...Pray for this endeavor...my son is up there now and his van is broke down...you can see why!

Please take this project on your heart as we need a building this size in the south because up until now we have always had to rent schools in this area but the government is not letting churches rent schools in this area. We need it functiong by Sept for our convention in that area. We don´t know how we can do it but we know God has the means and special channels He uses for His glory. Please help us pray.
