If you love onions and you love chocolate, it seems reasonable that you would enjoy chocolate covered onions! What say ye?

This thread is just for BreakingFree who loves onions and loves chocolate but for some reason says YUCK to chocolate covered onions...go figure!:D

Now, I could eat chocolate right after some onion rings. Well, I can't right now cuz the old trainer would kick my butt, but I can when she's not looking. LOL

How about some other unusual things?

For instance, peanut butter on a dill pickle is good.

I like onions in any form.

And I LOVE chocolate - IN ANY FORM.

And I'm adventurous.

So, I think I'd be willing to at least give choco covered onions a taste.

I would NOT eat choco covered ants or any other bug. EWWWWW

I like dill pickles. But I'm not a big fan of peanut butter. So I don't think I'd bother tasting that.

Strange food combinations ...ummmmmm no way..:nah.. I like onions and I love chocolate but not together. :)... Now, I would definitely consider onions on a burger and chocolate for dessert.

Other strange food combinations I have not tried... tuna w/ chips sounds great!:hypercoffee

1) French fries and milk shakes
2) Ketchup and Rice
3) Tuna sandwiches with potato chips (inside the sandwich)
4) Peanutbutter M&M's and popcorn

Sorry. Not gonna happen anytime soon. We don't allow peanut butter (or peanuts of any kind) in our house. We have a son who is way too allergic to peanuts to risk that. If I ate peanuts and then kissed my son, he'd be a dead child.

They have to be McDonalds fries and a chocolate shake, dip the fries in the shake, mmmmmmgood!

Tabasco sauce on popcorn is really tasty, they should market it.

I actually ATE that when I was pregnant.... but I also would sit in front of the computer and eat olives with cheddar cheese slices and popcorn. Those pregnancy hormones do strange things to a woman's appetite. I don't think I could handle either of those combinations of things now. In fact, just thinking about it now makes me queasy!!

reading the subject only-

Best youth activity I ever saw was Tom Trimble who covered an apple with caramel, and placed on the side of a cookie sheet.

He cut into it and ate the apple- so sweet and sticky.

He did the same with an onion, and then cut into it.

What are YOU on the inside?

Powerful!

Chocolate is made for candy bars...not onions.

I was just sitting here thinking about one of my favorite culinary delights:

An Italian Beef sandwich made by almost any restaraunt in Chicago or Northwest Indiana. Extra juicy. :D

Then my stomach began to toss a little bit at the suggestion to cover onions in chocolate.

Wow. LadyRev, you sure do know how to ruin a man's food day dreams.

My mother made us some navy bean soup when we were little.

There were so many of us that we had long benches on each side of the table and chairs at each end for our parents.

We kept sitting there and she kept warming it up and putting it back in the bowls. If I remember correctly we were crying also. :killinme

How in the world did she think 7 little girls were going to eat navy bean soup with visible white onions?!!!!

Chocolate Gravy

2 cups of milk
2/3 cup of sugar
1/3 cup of flour
1 rounded tablespoon of cocoa
dash of salt
cook until it comes to a boil

add
1/3 stick of butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla

and voila you has CHOCOLATE Gravy, serve it with homemade biscuits and your family will go nuts!

(No really NUTS! They will be swingin on the chandeleiers and doin cart wheels on the front lawn, all kinds of stuff!!!!!!)

MY SUGGESTION... you might after one or two times start experimenting...add a little cinnamon, a little butter rum extract, you know play around with it!

Now THIS is what my Memaw Polly called "Soppin' Chocolate" and it is sooooooo good with hot biscuits! It's a comfort food for me!

Now, has anyone had chocolate dipped potato chips? Have seen those in some gourmet food stores for LOTS O $$$$!

I'm not a very adventurous eater. Mainly meat and potatoes. Mexican, some italian. I guess I'm just a plain person. (thank God, I don't eat wierd stuff :crazy)

I had them at a ladies meeting a few years ago. One of the ladies did them herself with Pringles and chocolate bark - same concept as chocolate covered pretzels.

We have chocolate gravy with biscuits, sausage, bacon and eggs. My girls love it and I have fixed it for so many kids through the years who had never had it before they came to my house. I think it's been a unanimous hit every time.
