This past week Maggie was acting lethargic and not eating. I thought it was from the move and her adjusting to a new environment. When I came home from work yesterday she had been sick several times and by evening she was throwing up blood.

Well, we ended up in PetMed ER until around midnight where once she was examined they decided to keep her. They started her on IV's because she was dehydrated and put her on meds to stop the vomiting and an antibiotics.

They ruled out pancreatits (thank goodness) and concluded that she had either eaten something that made her sick or had a virus.

So she said in the hospital all day today and I just picked up her around an hour ago and now I have to give her meds and just watch her.

Being a house dog that is use to doing as she pleases, I can't lock her up in the bathroom, so I'm stuck home taking care of my baby for the next day or two.

Doesn't she look pitiful?

I really don't mind because I've done so much the past two weeks moving and getting settled in, so sitting with her in my lap will be good. Maybe now is a good time to finish a book I started several months ago!

Oh yea, I'm signing up for pet insurance - this little episode costed me $750

I'm so sorry about your dog! Mom's was just sick too. Just about the same symptoms, it turned out she ate a bug. The Vet found part of it...
Is your's a Maltese or poodle? She looks like Mom's Maltese, only mom's is whiTe

So sad to hear about your doggie's troubles. It's so sad when they get that sick.

Remember when Jazz was sick for days throwing up...my vet thought he ate an Ibuprofen and that's what made him so sick.

I should look into doggie insurance too. Let me know if you find a good deal.

Hugs!

Yes, you feel so helpless and you want to watch them so there's less mess to clean up. Luckly, last night each time we made it outside or at least the kitchen floor - - yuck.

I'll let you know what I find out, but I know I'm going to do it - I could have already paid for several years coverage.......

Maggie is doing much better today. All the meds are worn off and she has some spunk back and even ate a little today.

I could tell she was doing better because she begged for a bite of my Chik-fil-a sandwich that I only ate half of. I ended up having to put it down the garbage disposal so she couldn't smell it anymore. Bless her heart, but I'm not feeding any people food to her - - not after $750 hospital bill.

Renda, I just saw this.
I can understand how you feel, a couple of months ago I called my big sister and she didn't sound so good, turns out her cat that she had since a kitten passed away after having her for sixteen years.

During the last few years she saved a ton of money on vet bills by having pet insurance.

It's the way to go.

BTW she is cute, and I am glad she is feeling better!

I personally believe that Renda made up this story, as she didn't want to meet LR and I in Millington last Sunday. I think she was afraid we'd pray her back through into the UPC, red toenails and all!!! LOL!

Seriously though, I'm glad your baby is better.

LOL.....if I made up a story, I would have come up with one that didn't include cleaning up my carpet.........ugh!

I do hate that it didn't work out. Was it hot enough for you?

Arkansas was beautiful. It was hot but the humidity was low, can you believe it? It was that way for just us, I suppose.....LOL!

TN was HOT! Horribly hot. I didn't even turn down my AC on the way to southern Illinois, and that's unusual, cause I'm cold! I froze in church, but thawed out within 5 seconds of getting out!

My daughter loves to get her outfits, so since she's actually my daughter's pet, she buys them. Of course, I have her now and she will probably continue to be mine - - - I'm glad though, she's a lot of company.

For insurance, I haven't purchased yet - only been gathering infor. Here's some:

VPI Pet Insurance - 800/540-2016

Why wouldn't I let her play? Yes, that's her snoopy and CARS toy from McDonald's that she's chewing up!

She only chews on her toys or treats.
