Then Peter suggested unto them, repent -although it is completely unnecessary, be baptized however you want to - in order to keep an out-dated tradition alive, and eventually God may baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
A powerless message from a powerless church.

1. NOthing God has done it all you do nothing!
2. Accept Christ by faith and you are Heaven bound nothing else
3. All men will be saved Paul is like Hitler
4. Repent thats enough now if you ever get around to it be baptized that would be nice and if you want to be cool get the Holy Ghost but don't sweat it.
Then some of us just repeat the SAME answer Peter gave the multitude without commentary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!:highfive :highfive

What I don't understand is when did we start to pick and choose what we wanted out of the Bible???? Whatever sounds good, then I'll do it....If I don't agree with the Bible, I'll just skip over that part.

When We All Get To Heaven Lyrics:
Sing the wondrous love of Jesus,
Sing His mercy and His grace.
In the mansions bright and bless鐡
He値l prepare for us a place.
When we all get to Heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We値l sing and shout the victory!
While we walk the pilgrim pathway,
Clouds will overspread the sky;
But when traveling days are over,
Not a shadow, not a sigh.
When we all get to Heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We値l sing and shout the victory!
Let us then be true and faithful,
Trusting, serving every day;
Just one glimpse of Him in glory
Will the toils of life repay.
When we all get to Heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We値l sing and shout the victory!
Onward to the prize before us!
Soon His beauty we値l behold;
Soon the pearly gates will open;
We shall tread the streets of gold.
When we all get to Heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We値l sing and shout the victory!

Good morning everybody! :)
Well ........ the truth is that even those of a PAJC persuasion disagree even on the basics in regard to what's what and on the finer points.
It's not about people not agreeing with the Bible. It's about proper exegesis of Scripture. In attempt to "get it right" we come up with different emphases. We have a responsibility to "properly divide" scripture. Like I've said many times you can't hardly get agreement on every point between 2 people. And that is proved on these discussion forums in most every thread on a daily basis.
We ALL agree that every person must repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus and then as the promise was given ..... they SHALL receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. :thumbsup

Do we agree though that it is a "Necessity" to get into Heaven?
That is the $64,000 question.

Salvation suppoosedly comes at repentance now, which leads me to ask why Peter went on to add the legalistic requirement of baptism, and OH MY WORD he even added methodology to baptism. But they believe it IS necessary/essential and the people in their churches are repenting, getting baptized in Jesus name and receiving the Holy Ghost, just as they are in ours, just as they are in yours.
This is what I always get a little amused about is the fact that many of the people who you say don't believe this is necessary for salvation are getting the exact same results you are and others who believe like you do. Maybe even more and greater results and more numbers of people who are repenting, being baptized in Jesus name and receiving the Holy Ghost infilling evidenced by speaking in tongues.
Like Anthony Mangun always said and still says today....... the emphasis is........
You don't GOT to get the Holy Ghost. You GET to get the Holy Ghost.
And that's pretty much what Peter was saying ..... ye SHALL receive. It's a PROMISE and a FACT. :highfive

Absolutely she did, and this is what always happens. THEY say "I believe Acts 2:38" and then THEY issue one of the following disclaimers:
1. but
2. however
3. in a different way
The truth is THEY believe a different message. I'm glad we see the same results in a few so called PCI churches and ministries, but THEY preach a different message. There is much evidence in the past few days to convince me of that fact.

It's a different message, with a different emphasis.Different emphasis .... maybe. But then there's different emphases on most everything. Look at all these threads PP. Even those who hold to the PAJC doctrinal view don't agree on even basic biblical terms of salvation, of sanctification, justification, propitiation, regeneration, remission, and on it goes.
Yet we're all baptizing people in Jesus name and seeing them filled with the Holy Ghost and the interesting thing is that many of the PCIers are seeing as many if not MORE people receiving the Holy Ghost as those who say we don't believe it's necessary.
Nahum
02-27-2007, 10:25 AM
P.P. what say ye?
Friend, its obvious double-speak.
Here's the difference, if someone asks me what they need to do to be saved, I'm going to point them to the same plan Peter (under Divine inspiration) gave in the first century.
If someone asks Daniel, he cannot truthfully do this, as he believes repentance is all that is necessary to be saved. What does he point them to?
We preach a different message.

I guess the point is this.
Is there another way of Salvation other than obeying Acts 2:38?
I haven't seen it.

I haven't seen it.A crowd gathered together ..... under conviction of the Holy Ghost and the compelling message Peter preached to them about how they had crucified and killed Jesus of Nazareth who God had made both Lord and Christ .... came to the realization of the awful thing that had been done and asked .......
"What shall we do?"
Peter answered.....
"Repent and be baptized EVERY ONE OF YOU for the remission of your sin and ye SHALL receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Simple. Just preach it. Just do it. :highfive

I think sometimes if most of any of us are saved it's going to be a miracle so let's quit pointing fingers at others who are looked at as preaching a deficient doctrine or message of salvation.

Actually I proclaim Christ and Him crucified first, and the rest second.
Peter preached Christ, before he gave his altar call.

:highfive
Seems very simple to me!

Nope ... love, believe, teach, preach, and obeyed .... but they think we don't.
Perhaps its because in the words of Jeff Arnold , at BOTT, referring to these doctrine idolaters, "You are married to doctrine and have divorced yourself from Deity."

I am not sure about his belief on repentance actually?

Repent.
Be baptized in Jesus name.
Ye SHALL receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Anybody here have a problem with this?
Not me, I have no problem with this precious truth.:highfive

Amen Elder!:highfive
Then Peter suggested unto them, repent -although it is completely unnecessary, be baptized however you want to - in order to keep an out-dated tradition alive, and eventually God may baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
A powerless message from a powerless church.
I know I got laughed at on this forum for saying I attend an independant Apostolic Church. Yet many who call them self Apostolic on this forum do not believe Baptism is essential???
Apostolic is not how long your hair is but how you treat the salvation message.
What if Jesus would have stopped at the Garden.
He believed he was doing the right thing.
Then he went to the cross, grave and the Throne.
Doctrine is the WORD and the WORD is God and Arnold is goofy!:highfive And Epley is?
