I love sardines! Can't have them too often, Mr. Boomm doesn't like the smell of them. Don't know why I like them so much, i can see why people don't. But I love them as a snack on a saltine cracker. yum yum.

It has been many years since I ate sardines, but I remember that I loved to eat them with very sharp cheddar and saltines.

Oh, that sounds good. I never tried them with cheese, and the sharp cheddar sound wonderful.

When I was a young boy, my dad and I would sit and eat our sardines and saltines with that sharp cheddar and I couldn't eat them any other way. You should try it and let me know what you think...

I think I will, I am fresh out of sardines right now though. My Dad and I used to have this together as a snack after church sometimes. He still loved them even though he used to work in a sardine factory. My Mom never seemed to have the same craving. She also had worked in a sardine factory and maybe it affected her more in a negative way. I have always made sure I had some in my kitchen when I knew he was coming to visit. Just so we could sit together for old times sake and have a snack. He is not well now and I fear he will never get to come visit again. But, oh the memories!

Your post struck a very sentiment chord with me, because those memories of sitting with my dad eating sardines were ones that stayed with me throughout over 30 years of separation from him. It made my heart smile to read the connection you had with your dad that mirrored the fond memories of my dad.

You are right and I missed the whole thing after I read "I love sardines".

You can't pay attention to the smell, or "aroma" as I look at it. lol You HAVE to taste them. And the more you taste the more flavor you get. I really enjoy the smoked flavored ones. They are the best. But, yes you do have to brush after you eat them and use mouthwash. But I never have eaten a fish yet that didn't smell like a fish. No one likes something that smells fishy, you just have to ignore the smell and bite into it. It's all over after that. BTW, thanks for your comments. You encourage me to keep writing.

Your comments about your Dad is what caused me to write about mine as well. lol. I am saddened that you had such a long separation. How much more you must have cherished your memories.

Dear Sister -

No need to be saddened at all, for God knew the ending as the beginning and He restored a relationship that I thought was never to be again. Our faithful Lord had given me my heart's desire and there would never be any reason for regret only thanksgiving!
