How do you deal with attending church and trying to keep your children on a schedule? My little one is 4 1/2 months old and we are starting to get a regular nap schedule. Of course her nap time is during Sunday morning service and bedtime is before we get home on either Sunday or Wednesday evening. She will not sleep during service and is horribly cranky because she is tired. Any ideas or suggestions?

Take your quilt to church.Ours all slept under the pew.You are putting faithfullness into her.How about teaching her to nap after lunch? It works
for you as well especially after Sunday service.lol...:bedtime

Well at this age, she takes morning and afternoon naps. She also cries herself to sleep. :) Not thinking that's going to go over well with the pastor. But I do think it has potential as she gets older. Thanks!

Our little ones usually went to sleep in their car seats...we just set it on the pew next to us. However, I remember the times when they'd get woken up and there were many, many trips to the bathroom or the foyer to try to put down a fussy baby. It's a hard time on mommy and baby...you'll get through it. ;)

mine would sleep in his car seat or on the pew. i am with CAREYM....sometimes i would end up in the nursery. sometimes i wondered WHY DO I EVEN GET DRESSED TO COME TO CHURCH??? But i always did. we have a monitor in our nursery, so you can still see the service. there were times i thought i would NOT get better....but it did!

There are days this is exactly how I feel. Why bother when my husband and I alternate taking her out and walking with her? Sometimes I just need to hear "this too shall pass."

It is just part of it, with my first I was out ALL the time!!!!!!!!! With Ariel, I am still in and out but it is not as bad. She usually does really good through the worship service and then if she hasn't finally crashed by time the preaching begins I usually have to head out to the foyer. Sometimes it is stressful but I just keep reminding myself that this will be over before I know it. We have went to camps, youth rallies and congress and I have been out of services more than in and sometimes it can really get to you, but I know it'll pass.

Abigail enjoys the worship service, but she will NOT sleep at church so I generally have to take her out not much past the scripture reading. I think it looks like I don't want to listen to the preaching. LOL!

This is such a short time in their lives enjoy it while you can. With one of our children we taught him to sit in a stroller right in the aisle where he could see the pastor. He would sit there quietly the whole service, from about seven months to 18 months. When he learned to walk we noticed that he walked with almost a limp. After observing him for awhile, I realized he was walking like our pastor. He had been carefully watching our pastor and picking up his mannerisms that whole time.

Enjoy your time! As the mother of three..all over 15 years old, sleeping during church is still a problem. Keeping them awake!!
