I was at a TD Jakes service last night and wrote a commentary - stop by and give me your thoughts ! thanks

* * * I WAS AT A JAKES SERVICE LAST NIGHT * * *

( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( My Commentary ) ) ) ) ) ) ) )

Last Night I went to a Service in Oakland. Bishop jakes was the speaker.
it was held at the Oracle Colisium. i estimate there was about 20,000.

my first **Shock** came when I went to go inside for church, I was told that i had to have a Ticket!!! the ticket was $10.50. so is this the new trend?? collecting tickets at the door to go to a church service????

Let me first say, when the Bay area does it they do it up right! The Love center Choir and praise team provided the music - Their Choir is unbelievable! (i could have done with out the praise flags though).
Then Tramaine Hawkins sung and tore it up! they had to drag her off the stage she was overcome lol ! Then Donnie McClurkin sung an old hymn " standing on the promises" and testified how he is no longer in good health- Diabetes.

AND THEN!! Bishop Bloomer gets up to take up an Offering -he must have taken an hour you would not believe the trickery this Man used to pawn money from people- unreal.he demanded 1 million in the offering and had floks chanting..." something about adding another Zero " to their bank account if they gave.
my Next **SHOCK** came when they started dragging Huge garbage cans from the back and placing them in front of the pulpit!! you should have seen them stuffing cash in those garbage cans. the people cam eby the thousands to give! THEN! Bishop Hines(from Milwalkee) gets up in the mic and says " Don't you people even think about coming up here asking for change!!" was like Whaaaat!! Not everyone was falling for this. you should have heard all them color fok talking about money grubbin' preachers OUT LOUD! i was laughing my head off! they were too funny talking about how the banks close at 1 pm on saturday and how those preachers will be rushing to the banks first thing in the morning! lol

Then Jakes preached- He did okay. pretty much his usual message of encouragment. everything was fine UNTIL!!! he started taking up yet another offering!!! I was like " it's time to go".

all you cons will be surprised and saddend to hear this- while i was still in the lobby, he also made an alter call and led folks in the sinners prayer lol.
also, he ask the audience to be watching this monday as he co-host the Dr phil show. He seemed to be implying that the church world should be the ones on Daytime TV.

Good to see you round, Buddy!

I saw TBN and TD Jakes and Dr Phil were on there. I was like, 'What the?'

There was absolutely NO anointing whatsoever on the show. Now, DR. Phil's a Christian!

TD Jakes disappointed me that nite.

And what's up with the sinner's prayer??????

MY GOD!!!

Just pray for him.

As far as the prosperity stuff, I just read in Gospel Today magazine that the greatest threat to the church today is the prosperity message.

Folks need to get real with God and stop the foolishness.

Ppl are not gonna keep financing idiocy, foolishness and a farce.

As long as these folks keep putting money in the buckets and swarming these places proporting false doctrine, there will be 'preachers' selling this stuff.

Lord help us!

Dude, Merced choir is on FIYA!

It is refreshing to see a true Apostolic move!

Peace!

I posted this in Thad's tab and I am pasting it here....

You should try and watch Bishop Noel Jones, not to take anything away from T. D. Jakes, but I think that Bishop Noel Jones can preach just as good as Bishop Jakes.

I like Jakes - I mean his message.

I like the idea of bridging the gap between Oneness and Trinitarians (I did not say rub out any distinctions!)

I do not care for alot of the Jakes preaching style but niether do I care for many UPC preaching styles.

I do not think Jakes has gone soft on homosexuality. And no I don't pay to go to a church service.

Sad report.Money is the root of all evil.I wonder what Jesus would have
to say about it.He even fed the 5000.

to say about it.He even fed the 5000.Money is not the root of all evil. Without it the Kingdom of God on earth would be bereft.

It's the love of/for money that surpasses love for God that is the killer.

Sounds like the Million dollar march in Columbus Ohio at Last Year's General Conference's Foreign Mission service. W/O the admission fee.

I Love, Respect and Honor Bishop T. D. Jakes! I knew him before he owned a tape recorder or TV Camera and I had dinner with him a couple weeks ago. He is a kind, humble, hospitable servant of the Lord.
You do yourself a disservice by disrespecting the man of God. Bishop Jakes is a Mighty Man of God.

The $10.50 admission fee in most cases covers the cost of renting the Coliseum. I took my family to Quicken Arena in Cleveland to see Joel Osteen. It cost $10/person. And they took up an offering as well. Our family had a great time.

Bishop Jakes does not charge to get in an event. Who ever sponsored the event was the one that dealt with the money. Don't put it off on him just because he was speaking.

When I was in the UPC - Pastors and National Leaders would have me fly in to raise money for their projects. I never counted the money, touched the money or saw any of the money. They would hand me an envelope as they let me off at the airport. I never knew what I would get night after night - week after week. I did have preachers slam me as "The Money Man" because I preached Faith for Finances and challenged people to give. THE PASTORS were the ones taking care of the finances - NOT ME - but I got the RAP of always being out for money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Give Bishop Jakes a break - I have been to the Potter's House many times and have never paid a fee to get in!

I understand the process. Coliseum rental isn't cheap. I would pay $10.50 to hear TD Jakes any day of the week. I don't care if he charged to get into an event. I would pay $10 bucks to hear Lee Stoneking or Anthony Mangun. LS does various seminars which people pay to hear him speak. AM packs out Alexandria every year @ BOTT. The Bible says to whom much is given much is required. $10 is cheap compared to secular speakers. Wayne Dwyer and Stephen Covey charge thousands of dollars just to sit in the audience. At least one gets worship God @ a TD Jakes event.

That is True- I want to make that clear if I didn't. Jake's didnt charge to get in. It was put on by a local committee. Furthermore, He did not take up that monsterous offering. BUT, IMO, after being charged a ticket to get in service and after taking one monumental offering, i think we could have done without yet another

also, let's not forget that the UPC is charging $25 to get into services too

I didn't mind the 10.50 but that offering that Bloomer took was ridiculous. and a 2nd offering was too much

I don't see how you can realistically do anything but a Sinner's prayer and direct people to thier local churches in a meeting of 20,000 in the Oakland Colliseum... I mean, let's be realistic here, they'd need a million dollar offering to have the staff (and water) there to baptize all those people in any remotely orderly/realistic fashion... it just isn't logistically possible...

and, no, I have no idea how the 120 on the Day of Pentecost baptized 3,000 except they all probably baptized like 25 each... (which isn't that bad)
