A pastor that went to Prison for a Serious Crime a few years ago won his Appeal this week and was released from the penitentry today !

however, it's not over. they state is trying to appeal the appeal and have him sent back to prison to serve out his 20 years.

I hope that if he is innocent that his appeal sticks. if not, everyone has to pay the price of doing the crime.

You don't usually win an appeal unless it is justified.

Should be interesting.

Wouldn't this be a former UPC pastor? Surely he no longer holds credentials ... or pays dues.

If your out of jail, I would think that is good news.

what i mean is, if you win an appeal AFTER you've been found guilty, the chances of going back to prison are slim - right ?

depends on the grounds for the appeal. If it was a technicality, then they can simply retry him with the facts and send him back...

where was this preacher from? Texas?

Is this one of those "no names" threads even though it is public.

until there is PROOF it IS public, he's not saying - even if he believes his source. Until HE sees proof, he's not saying.

I'm waiting for someone from the area to let me know when/where it was made public news.

you can split that hair if you want - we've been down this road before - and until he can READ the proof for himself...he's best to keep names to himself.

its fine to discuss it b/c someone out there might have the proof at hand...

In the technical sense, if he is out, it is public. Actually, his situation is public period.

yes, it is - but no sense getting folks upset or even excited if its not true...you know? No sense causing potential hurt for someone by jumping the gun.

Now if we had FCF still, we could bump the original thread when the incident occurred, but we do not. That is IF it's the same UPC preacher we discussed on FCF....And if it turns out to be a different preacher that went to jail, we'll, we've started something for nothing.

err on the side of caution.

LOL, except for the fact that Thad knows already. Has anybody heard the status of that Huling fella in MO?

that's an interesting Qs

if he a person gets convicted of a crime and sent to prison, does he get his license taken away ?

I'm not talking about going to Prison for preaching the gospel either :killinme

who was he?

There was one in the St Louis area, forgot his name - he got busted in a sting operation - something perverted is all I remember. They never followed up in the news here and told what happened. ((If that's who you mean))

there just might be a person who was UPC who went to jail and didnt do anything wrong...it's HIGHLY possible.

History says that if you get accussed of something, your status in the UPC is pretty well done, so a prison sentence, I would imagine.

well, drug addicts can leave service, go on a binge, eventually come back to God....and once again be UPC. Can't they?

XX, once the Sunday School director of the UPCI at its headquarters was suspended him without pay and then went into retirement.

The court in St. Louis has decided the first two years of XXs retirement will include probation and he must pay a $1,000 fine.

From the STL paper

He made a statement admitting he did, I heard he recanted later, not sure about that.
Hard to imagine, they could have beat me with sticks and I would never admit to something like that if I didn’t do it.

the news here said he was caught, literally in the act he was accused of...

now, that's just all the news sources saying it, but it was hard to dispute being caught on camera doing what you are accused of doing.

Thad it would depend 100% on the grounds for the appeal. The appellate process just determines the "fairness" of the trial for lack a better word. It is extremely rare that guilt or innocence is the issue.

FYI - I too have been told by folks as close to this minister as you can get that he IS out...I am waiting for further details on the reason he's out and how long he's been out...It is also been stated numerous times that this minister is innocent of the charges against him. As soon as I get more details on they why and the how..I'll be happy to share them with you. This is very good news. These are precious people who have literally been through hell
