Diet Dr Pepper is my fave. I went off caffeine a few years ago, and only drank the caffeine-free ones. I did really good for about 15 months. I had some health issues and the doctor actually wanted me to drink caffeine. I thought it would kill me for a minute, but I never looked back. And I'm not going through those withdrawals again. I'll just keep drinking it now!!

I agree. People are hungry and they need a church environment in which they can function and have healthy growth.

We are small, about 90 members and we are just starting out but at least now our own pride can't get in God's way.

Yeah, I do know essentially what you mean... Are you aware of how stupid you look to the rest of the planet when you say things like this, though??

I mean, seriously, think what the other inhabitants of earth would think of us if they found out we were about to split over TV advertising in the year 2007...

Sometimes we shoot ourselves and our attempts at reaching people in the foot, and this whole "charismatic is an insult" thing is part of it...

OH YEAH!! Plus there's the white elephant in the room of explaining why there are 24 times (at least) more people on earth who are Charismatic and spirit filled than who you consider not-Charismatic and spirit filled... I can't imagine that would go over well with the layman apostolic....

and for two, I don't think it was childish... I said when you say something you sound stupid... because what is being said doesn't make any sense to anyone else... I don't think coonskinner is a stupid man, I absolutely, 100% do not think he is stupid... That is why I say something like that... Because he has to realize that to everyone but a very small portion of the population he does in fact sound kinda stupid when he tries and insults people by calling them charismatic... Its great that we can make up our own usage of words in our little circles, but the rest of the world thinks we're nuts and, occasionally, they have a point and its not "nuts for God" nuts, its just plain old disconnected with reality nuts...

Go out on the street and ask someone what they would think of someone who tries to insult someone by calling them exactly what they are themselves... I doubt you'd get a nice answer (although you'll probably just get started at like you're crazy lol)

for one, I have to deal with much more childishness coming at me from coonskinner and a few others around here who seem to have been given the blessing of the moderators here to belittle and insult me at will with absolutely no penalty ever coming down...

and for two, I don't think it was childish... I said when you say something you sound stupid... because what is being said doesn't make any sense to anyone else... I don't think coonskinner is a stupid man, I absolutely, 100% do not think he is stupid... That is why I say something like that... Because he has to realize that to everyone but a very small portion of the population he does in fact sound kinda stupid when he tries and insults people by calling them charismatic... Its great that we can make up our own usage of words in our little circles, but the rest of the world thinks we're nuts and, occasionally, they have a point and its not "nuts for God" nuts, its just plain old disconnected with reality nuts...

Go out on the street and ask someone what they would think of someone who tries to insult someone by calling them exactly what they are themselves... I doubt you'd get a nice answer (although you'll probably just get started at like you're crazy lol)

I didn't see where you have MiracleZMom listed.
She has not posted much but reads some of the stuff on here.
Her grandfather and I were Sunday School teachers in a UPC church back in the late nineteen fifties and early sixties.
Her father visited my Sunday School class there when he was a teen ager.
I can't remember for sure but I think her father got baptized as a teenager one Saturday night after I preached at the UPC church.
She and my daughter were friends growing up in an ALJC church.
She is married to a UPC pastor and they are planting a new church not far from where I live.
They are currently meeting in their home with about 15 people.

Just because I'm employed by a Lutheran church does NOT mean that I am Lutheran in my heart. I don't even understand their Liturgical services. Have to have a lady sit beside me at the piano and tell me when to start playing, etc.

I so long for Pentecostal/Apostolic fellowship. But the churches I would like to attend don't have evening Sunday services anymore...makes me sad.

I don't want to hijack this thread but the one-step and three-step thing has been discussed a lot on this forum. When the UPC was formed in 1945, two organizations came together. They were the PCI (Pentecostal Church Inc) and the PAJC (Pentecostal Assemblies of Jesus Christ). The PCI ministers were predominantly one-steppers and the PAJC ministers were predominantly three-steppers. (That's a pretty broad statement. Nobody seems to know the actual numbers of those who held the two opinions). The fundamental doctrine statement was worded the way it was to accommodate both groups. The Pentecostal Herald, the new magazine for the new organization, in its first issue said it would publish articles by those of both opinions. The first General Supt. (Bro. Goss), the first Sunday School Director (Bro. McNatt), the first foreign Missionary secretary (Bro. Stairs) and some of the District Presbyters were one-steppers.

Charismatic in practice
Non-denominational in affiliation
Inter-denominational in fellowship

The reasons for using these terms:

I believe in the New Testament and the teaching of the Apostles.

I have received the HGB (Holy Ghost Baptism) as received by about one third of the early church on the day of Pentecost as recorded in Acts chapter 2

Some of the gifts (charismata) of the Spirit have been seen in my life and ministry.

I do not belong to any of the recognized denominations. I am an ordained minister in a small OP organization called The Churches Of Jesus Christ International (CoJCI) but I do not consider that a denomination

I fellowship with folks who are OP, UPC, Independent, and some who are part of recognized denominations

Sometimes we shoot ourselves and our attempts at reaching people in the foot, and this whole "charismatic is an insult" thing is part of it...

1.How many people have you and are you reaching to qualify you as an expert?

2.Show me in my post where I said the term "charismatic" was an expert.

OH YEAH!! Plus there's the white elephant in the room of explaining why there are 24 times (at least) more people on earth who are Charismatic and spirit filled than who you consider not-Charismatic and spirit filled... I can't imagine that would go over well with the layman apostolic

Ok we are done with the drama here in my house for the day!!! Our lead singer is all about worship, high energy, and simplicity. She provides a ton of energy to our band. Being a local high school teacher she helps keep us creative folks well organized when us guys would love to jam for hours instead of keeping our focus during our practice time.

She is also a fellow youth leader and she is single. :nod

Everything we do usually sounds like full blown rock but we want to play in the main service so we have appeal to all ages. It is actually fun to play some Israel and other Gospel stuff that has a lighter mood instead of the rock stuff.
