I have nothing against Bro. Morton, I think he is actually a very good man, even though I don't agree with his positions on a lot of things. He at least has been completely consistent in what he does, unlike many others in his group.
But to the heart of the question, my personal feeling is that, it probably is time for that group to move on, they have for the most part removed themselves from the district as it is, and I think there are too many issues that they will never agree on, for them to be able to stay. And really that is fine. I don't think it has to be ugly on either side, just an agreement to disagree. If only it could go that way, without all the name-calling and finger-pointing.

I wonder how many of the people who want to leave are kicking themselves for voting in resolution 3 right now...

But you don't think there is any bitterness from this group? no hostility?
many think that they wanted their own power, etc.. any opinions on this ?
do you think it was just strictly about the rules and standards ?

From the GROUP, no doubt! But apparantly they didn't get the memo where any one sub-group does not get to call all the shots. Although, they have controlled the flow of a lot of things in this district for a while now. Which is one of the reasons that the South wanted to split so badly.

I think there might be a misunderstanding for Resolution 3 -- it's only referring to people who have been under question by the district board and/or license has been "taken" due to questionable behavior. Not just ex-upci brethren..... I think it is just those "under question".

Quite a few said they would, many of those won't, at least not at first.
If they all left en-mass, the UPCI would plan new churches there pronto, and those pastors that would leave the UPCI, may find "their" saints may be tempted to go with the new UPCI across the street.
I would think most will just let their cards lapse so as not to create a vacuum that can and would be filled in no time.

YES...that's where people are getting confused. I talked to someone actually in the meeting and he said nothing was said about someone who leaves the organization. It's for people who've been under question regarding money, morality, ethics, stuff like that.

Grant it, the district board can call these guys ethically under question because they pulled out of the organization, but in reality, how often will that happen?

Trust me... you are mistaken. Before this further clarification of the rule, the OK district put AFF's own Triumphant1 under question and he had turned in his license willingly with no active question against his life. The sole purpose was to prevent his friends still in the UPC from using him. He got a letter weeks or months after his withdrawl informing him that he had been placed under question and then a letter was mailed to the ministry of the OK district informing them that he was basically minster non grata.

His "sin"... he no longer agreed with the standards so he did the honorable thing and withdrew.

Trust me... it is rife with the possibility for abuse by those in power.

I guess then it would depend on what District you were talking about?

Not really. The point is that it is possible. Some districts may not abuse the power it gives them but the fact that they could is not healthy!
