Hey Thad,
just wanted to inform you there has been talk of Last year's meeting that the conservatives had in Houston. this has come up again with the idea of a new fellowship forming. there is mention of Jonny Godair being the head of it although i don't know if has even come on board with it.
Also, Bro Haney made the statement that anyone who is against the UPC and the direction it is taking is free to leave. so, maybe these brethren are taking him up on his offer. just wondering here
In Jesus name
well okay..... ummmm sounds very interesting.
hope we get more information on this in the days to come
thanks for that !

Interesting and I thought that meeting last year was just to make sure folks were "informed"...

Kenneth Haney is right to free anyone to go who is in opposition to where the org is headed. The UPC is a fellowship for those that can work together, if not, join with those with whom one can work. Leadership must have vision and direction, and not be moved by every wind that blows.

You folks can look all you want for conspiracies... but I was with Johnny Godair and Larry Booker last night... and NOTHING was said about 'secret meetings' or 'new organizations' or anything else along that line.
Even earlier Bro. Booker talked to Coonskinner and I for quite a while at our table and... nothing.
As for Haney saying, "If you don't like it leave"... been here all week at every meeting and never heard anything remotely like that.
There may be 'moves' made in the days ahead but I think it's going to take some weeks to see how big of an impact this might have. Both Booker and Godair are my friends and I've preached for them... even made plans again last night. Nope. No invitation to any secret meetings.

Actually, JG I have heard doesn't want to be the one seen as the leader because of his age and health. But rather, there are some younger UC out west that would possibly take the healm. A man JK in the central valley of California pastors a small church I have heard his name many times. I think it will be somoene from the wild wild west to take the bull by the horns.

IMO ... Stead is too much of a company guy to be going anywhere. He'd need floaties if he did.

It's too early in this thing for speculation...let us pray for the United Pentecostal Church, International, those who sit in leadership positions, as well as the Church as a whole, regardless of organizational affiliation.
There has never been a time like this one. We need each other, more so than ever before in these closing hours.
May we be mindful of one another...

Barb im afraid we will never realize this unless times get very hard. persecution and hardtimes have a way of bringing us back to humility.

Amem...dear friend.

Perhaps, but it doesn't have to be this way.
The United Pentecostal Church, International was formed out of diversity. Together they worked and cried and shouted and built churches and sent out missionaries, both home and foreign, and made something wonderful I think.
There are no perfect situations, churches or people, so yes, things were not always without issues, but still and all it was a pretty good deal.
I am not willing to right it all off and accept that hard times or endtime persecution are the only means by which we can become one in heart and goal.
Sorry for the soapbox sermonette, son, but I am just wondering why we can't find humility any other way...guess I'm a dreamer, huh?!

They are not going anywhere. Their whole identity is wrapped up in the UPC and they don't have that many to draw from outside of it. 200 is quite a stretch I would say - Those guys don't have what it takes to leave the UPC!

For your information I 'floated' just fine for years before I got into the UPC... and still preach a large percentage of time for independant brethren or those of other organizations.
I'll float, trust me... because I'm not a servant to anything but God.

I've learned to never say never. I don't plan on letting anything push me out of something I've loved and given myself to help for 20 plus years.
If doctrine changes I'm history... mark that down. But, for now, I'm going to stay until my convictions give me no choice.
One of the few opposing the resolution to admit it's not a doctrinal issue. That's impressive.

It sure would be interesting to know how much time these preachers spend dividing these organizations and then compare it to how much time they spend telling others about Christ which is actually what we are commanded to do.

So true Sister Alvear. If we could really become 'united' in the saving of sinners, we would none have time to bicker about things that are so trivial.

I get ready to bash some of these guys with my oh, so self righteousness (and I am right!) , then I wonder if Sister A. is reading and I get all meek and humble.
