BAITED breath I would assume meant the same at BUTANE Breath. Breath that smells like BAIT. But bated?????? That one has always stumped me.

That is exactly what I was thinking!

Why not just post the letter and let everyone decide for themselves?

Some people love to create tension and a story ... sit back and laugh. :)

Comes from Old French, which borrowed from Latin, it's a derivative of sorts of abate, (still used in law) but the verb "to bate" (to be less intense) is lost to English except for the idiom "bated breath"

C'mon Thad.
It's a few minutes before midnight here in SW Ohio.
I'm gonna have to turn off the confuser and go to bed.
I've got prayer meeting in the morning and a hospital call to make in the afternoon.

Yeah...Mr. Rochester hiding his wife and all....That was terrible. By the way, just to let you know, I am no relation to "that" Jane Eyre. My family left Great Britian centuries before the novel.

:popcorn2 Thad, I should have been to sleep an hour ago. I have to get up at 6 am. As others have said, we are here with bated breath. In other words, you have people sitting in front of their computers, hitting the refresh button holding their breath anxiously and excitedly to hear the latest news.

From Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice to Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer (bated breath references) - we've all awaited this letter.

Tell us what it is so that we can go to sleep.

OH MY WORD!

All I am going to say....this is BAD! BAD! BAD!! This guy has so much hatred and venom in him...the one who really needs prayer is this preacher. May God save his soul. He is gonna need some mercy and grace for what he has said.

People can say all they want about people on this forum...however, I have never read so much hatred and un-Christianlike rhetoric.

Here is the thing....this is on an internet site. Perhaps, can the link be provided? Discussion here then?

All I am gonna say...is that there is really no discussion to be had when you read the letter. It is out in the internet world for public consumption. But when I got done reading the letter just a few minutes ago....all I thought was God forgive him for he knows not what he is doing. Lord, save his soul.

SoCaliUPC

It really is nothing to gloat over. It is out there for people to read. People have a right to read it and discuss it. THat is the First Amendment right. But, I think people need to read it....people need to read who wrote it....and then people need to pray that he makes it in the rapture. I think opponents of Resolution 4 do not want this to be the commentary on their feelings. I think even they will be praying that this minister finds a place of repentence himself before the trumpet of the Lord sounds.
