A Great Sermon Idea.

A great sermon idea would be for preachers to read and follow Proverbs 10:19:

"In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin; but he that refraineth his lips is wise."

Jesus followed this Proverb, in that He is never recorded to have spoken on any one one topic for more than a few short minutes. Apostle Paul, rather, is recorded to have violated this Proverb in Acts 20:9 when his "long" preaching caused a man to die.

There is no so called "context" for this verse to allow its clear meaning to be explained away for the convenience of professional church talkers whose careers depend upon longwinded sermons. Those who claim to represent Jesus should indeed follow His example given in Scripture.

Why didn't the apostle Paul get the head's up memo on "Thou shalt not preach longwinded sermons"?

Ac 20:9 - And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

Paul "violated" a proverb. I do not think so. ;) That is taking things out of context. The proverb talked about SIN. Paul did not sin.

God gained glory through it all. Resurrection! :)

...would God use Pual to resurrect the boy if Paul sinned? All sorts of assumptions come into play here. One must think Paul sinned, and then assume Paul repented and raised the boy to life.
