I don't care if you are Apostolic, former Apostolic, Catholic, or any other variant strand of Christianity. The bottom line is that scripture such as Ephesians 4 is written for the church. If you are part of the church in the broader sense...then it applies to you. So no amount of quips or "revelations" or sob stories of problems years ago give any of us a pass to just ignore the book and say "oh it just doesn't work for me so I don't have to follow it".
