Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Albert Einstein quotes don't validate your assinine position that if you don't like a scripture it simply doesn't apply to you.

I don't care if you are Apostolic, former Apostolic, Catholic, or any other variant strand of Christianity. The bottom line is that scripture such as Ephesians 4 is written for the church. If you are part of the church in the broader sense...then it applies to you. So no amount of quips or "revelations" or sob stories of problems years ago give any of us a pass to just ignore the book and say "oh it just doesn't work for me so I don't have to follow it". Thats stupid.

I suppose if monogomy just really didn't work for me it would be ok for me to run around on my wife? Maybe if loving my neighbor doesn't work for me, I guess I just don't have to do it right?

You may have had bad experiences at your church but that does not mean there are not good churches out there that are fulfilling their role in bringing people to Christ and discipling them.

A person in crisis like this desperately needs the love and prayers of a church family and the counsel of a godly man or men.

You guys want him to cut ties, be on his own, and just take some more drugs. Good grief. This is the first time in a long time I have just outright wanted to rebuke people on this forum.

Tell me this batman. How many of you brilliant people who "take a break" from church ever go back? How many ever search and find one to plug in to?

The answer is pretty much zero and you know as well as I do the bible is clear about the role of pastors and teachers in a Christians life. How do you explain away that?

Sorry, CC1, have to disagree with you here. He's been going to church, and look where he is. The support of his "church" group consists of "oh, just pray about it".....because that's what we're taught.

He needs some practical counseling and support, and doesn't need the added condemnation of "not living right".

Been there - done that, happier now than I've ever been in my life.

I didn't say he needed to keep going to THAT church. I said that he needed A church to support him, teach him, disciple, him etc as Ephesians chapter 4 tells us when talking about why Christians need pastors, teachers, etc in their lives to help disciple them.

You are absolutely correct that he needs some practical counseling and support. If you have read my posts you will see that I have strongly urged him to seek out CERTIFIED Christian counseling and gave him pointers on how to find one of those counselors.

If people would not give asinine ungodly advice there would be no kicking each other around.

Sorry, my internet is sketchy; I dropped out of this when Matt went to work. Not sure how I might have violated Ephesians 4 to you? Or, could you direct me to the relevant page to get context for this? Scripture works GREAT for me, so I would like to offer a rebuttal if I seem to have veered there to you.

Can you come up with a rational explanation of why Ephesians 4 does not apply to you?

You are assuming I agree that my explanation is irrational and I do not.

We disagree, CC1. Plain and simple.

No caffiene drinks. No food with MSG (monosodium glutamate) in it. It is an excitotoxin. No aspartame. These things rev up the nervous system.

Try to eat whole foods such as fresh fruit and vegetables. Whole grains that are not genetically modified, and get plenty of fish oil. Our bodies need fish oil...it's brain food.

I absolutely agree with this.

I love it when people call my opinions assinine. Don't you?

Yes and Matt said he wants to go to church and I thoroughly respect that.
