PaPaDon,

I believe there were 3 prophesies given, that being one of them. One other is that more focus would be upon the gifts of the Spirit rather than the Giver of the gifts. I can't remember the 3rd. I'm sure someone knows it.

I agree completely with your post!

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

This sounds pentecostal to me!

It is absolutely pentecostal, the whole picture.

BUT

YOU ARE WAY WRONG in the upper part of your post!
WAY WAY WAY WRONG!

But, brother, I don't care if you are the General Superintendent of the UPCI with 8 generations in your pedigree, I AM right in my post.

Just when I think you are a pretty good dude...you say something stupid!

That church is a family magnet!
I know...my wifes DAD stopped pastoring when she was 13 just to take them to the POA so she couls be around more than little churches...TO this day she will tell you that had he not done that...she would probably not be in church today.
C.Mon Epely....Please tell me that you are not even going to attempt to try to validate your opinion of the likes of GA and Vesta Mangun. That church was built on more prayer and fsating than ANY of its kind......YOU know why they have the biggest crowd in the UPCI?....The reap what they have sown...

Folks come, feel God..get baptized, HG...etc.... But guess what...the power of the human will steps into play....they stay or they leave....Is that the fault of the POA or the Manguns? NO WAY...they are there doing what the church is supposed to be doing.....IF they stay or if they go....is a matter of human will and dedication.

That's just way sad, bro. I guess I should have backslidden as a young person, because I grew up in a 'little church'. Oh, but, see, I had a pastor who somehow taught me how to develop my own relationship with Jesus, so that I could live for HIM, regardless of the size of the congregation I was in.

It is sad to say but - You are SO VERY WRONG! I want to encourage you to seek God and read the Word of God in order to get out of this sad depression you are in. You might need to find a pastor who has a track record of bringing deliverance to people. Serving God is not depressing and sitting around singing Down in the Valley and No body knows the trouble I've Seen.

You can have Victory and true Joy in your life. Jesus came to give us LIFE and even a life of Abundance! Get you some good tapes or CD's of some good Faith Preachers.
There is HELP for you in the Name of Jesus!

Hey, AB! Guess what? I went to a tent revival in Minden, La last night (got to meet La. Girl!) honoring Bro. Barnes' one year passing. The evangelist didn't really preach, per se, but he included a portion in his talk about the older men in the tabernacle who were to dance before the Lord and teach the younger men. It was interesting, though........there was NO music!! He didn't have to cheerlead, either. We just started dancing, some more than others, some sure seemed to be in the Spirit, but others, like me, just danced because of Who He is and what He's done! No BUMP! BUMP! THUMP! THUMP! of the drums and bass and screeching of the organ.

It was pretty neat. I thought about you. :tiphat

I for one think it gets really old. I know that the UPC isn't infallible. But the do a great job in a lot of things.

It should also be noted that most compromiser's churches are full of exUPC because flesh loves an easier way. If I thought I could be saved without one standard I might want that too.

Since there is a call for honesty from Atlantabishop I have a plan. Lets suggest that the UPC takes the sign down that says 'lively worship' when you take the sign down that says 'Apostolic Pentecostal'.

"DEAN"......I love you and you know that...But alot of what he is saying hes quite true....Alot of our churches are quite dead...they have lost their prayer, their zeal...and their joy....but bless God they dress right.
As far as making him take down the "apostollic pentecostal" sign, he has every right to wear it and to wear it proudly. The problem is while most of us sit around and sing kombuyah and tell each other how great we are...he at least IS willing to point out things that could use some change in the ORG that he was a great part of and quite faithful to. IMHO

We had a service not long ago where the Lord took over and we had all preaching and no shouting.:happydance :happydance

Though this is not directed towards me, I feel compelled to respond.
Churches become dead for a variety of reasons.
Maybe they aren't praying? (Basic, I know)
Maybe they aren't fasting? (Again, basic)
Maybe they aren't reading their Bibles daily? (ibid.)

This list goes on. Yet, some want to blame standards of dress and conduct? How ridiculous!!

It all boils down to lazy church members who feel that for them to worship, the right song has to be played a certain number of times and the right person has to sing it in key.
The right preacher has to be there.
This list could continue ad nauseum as well.

Oh foolish people, who has bewitched you with this wayward thinking?
Repent church and re-establish the basics in your lives and the fiery services will come.
