You are absolutely correct that he needs some practical counseling and support. If you have read my posts you will see that I have strongly urged him to seek out CERTIFIED Christian counseling and gave him pointers on how to find one of those counselors.

Problem with this is the churchgoer can't control the part that says the church is supposed to support him, teach him and disciple him.

Telling folks not to use MSG is pretty valid. Have you studied MSG? There are many, many things like fluoride usage that cause health problems. Using wisdom is a good thing. What about GMO foods etc. etc.

I rinse with ACT flouride every day twice a day. But I don't drink the stuff.

Some people are just allergic to MSG. I'd rather do without the panic attacks than eat it. Have you ever read about how they make it? Gross! And there is such a thing called caffeine free coke. :rolleyes2

Now raise me back from the dead. :heeheehee

Sorry, my internet is sketchy; I dropped out of this when Matt went to work. Not sure how I might have violated Ephesians 4 to you? Or, could you direct me to the relevant page to get context for this? Scripture works GREAT for me, so I would like to offer a rebuttal if I seem to have veered there to you.

I hadn't directe dthe reply towards you bbyrd.

On the previous page or two ILG basically said he didn't think Eph.4 (having 5 fold ministry leadership over her) applied to her because "it didn't work for her". If we get to pick and choose and only obey scriptures that "work for us" then God really isn't our authority.

The idea/opinion/whatever you wish to call it is indeed assinine.

This thread was meant to build up Matt, but you don't build up anyone with the idiotic suggestion of "well just stop going to church" or "well, the bible only applies to you when you like it. Otherwise, just ignore it because Jesus picked corn on the sabbath". It displays the irresponsible, dangerous and sometimes just stupid mentality of many of the "Christians" here.

If I said, "your opinion is c*r*a*p* or it sounds like something only an ass would say and that is is just plain stupid". Would that be bad?

I am asking because two of the churchgoing Christians who are livid that I would suggest someone stop going to church to find healing have called my opinions asinine 3 times. They have called it stupid and other descriptions. Is that healthy? Would you feel better about attending church with people who communicate like that? Would it make you feel loved, appreciated and less depressed?

Just wondering.

Sorry Matt for the digression. I do hope you are feeling better.

That depends on whether my opinion or advice was indeed c*r*a*p like the advice you chose to give.

When you advise someone to stop going to church, your advice is stupid and shouldn't be listened to. If you chose to no longer go to church and make up your own personalized brand of nonsense spirituality then at least you are only risking your own soul. When you pass it off to others and tell them it is ok to just not go to church anymore then you are indeed giving stupid advice.

And yes...if I gave such advice I would expect someone to point out how stupid I was being. You aren't intersted in feeling loved, appreciated nor do you care about how it is communicated. You just don't like it when someone doesn't pat your head and tell you it's fine to spread idiot ideas like "just stop going to church. Make up your own rules/religion. I did and it's oh so wonderful".

When I need rebuke or correction I am fine with it. Your advice was terrible and dangerous and deserved a rebuke. You won't accept it because in your mind you are just hunky dory. Every mans way is right in his own eyes, even when it is dead wrong.
