Sure with too much of anything is not good. But not enough of stuff can hurt too.

So, we have one church then in The Bible Belt.

We thus have not shown it would be so overly successful in surburbia. Some programs are successful in one area and a flop in another. Many years ago, a man went to a major New England city and knocked doors for 6 hours with NOT ONE of his surveys filled out. I remember him stating he had never seen this response, and he said the last church in Texas he had 100 visitors himself.

Do you have any knowledge of any other LARGE (over 250 member) ALJC church in America using TV advertising?

Our TV show is awesome and brings in lots and lots of families into our church. It has been the most effective outreach we could have ever done and we have seen many lives changed through it. It is preaching only with a professional intro; no music on it. Also, we NEVER EVER ask for money.

A friend I went to Bible School with is from a large UPC church in Arkansas. They run around 500+. They've advertised on television for a few years now. I don't believe they broadcast services though.

Thus far, advertising on television hasn't turned them charasmatic. Nor has it unleashed mass sin in the church. What it has done is allowed the church to reach into more homes each week than they could all year on visitation.

Now, his church still has outreach and door knocking. They give a lot of Home Bible Studies and, from what I've heard, still believe in dress standards. They don't believe, nor do I, that television is the end-all for outreach. Rather it's just another tool and means to reach into a lot of homes.

I wouldn't say they suddenly had 100 new people the week after advertising on television, but they have had significant response to it. Enough to continue on with it.

Yes. A daugther work of the TN church in another town has about 450 going there and they have a tv program too. A church in Va has 300 with a TV broadcast. I think to lump all the churches together and say it will not work is foolish. I am not meaning that is what you are saying, I am just saying this in general. Knocking doors in the south is much easier than anywhere else. The tv thing is not though. Sure the south is open to Christians and ministries. But I will tell you that in those areas that people will not responed to door knocking, if you can get into their homes on tv then you have a greater chance than just door knocking alone.

If someone knocks on a door in New England, like you were saying, people may not respond. But why stop there if you have a Tv program that gets into their homes not matter what they say. If they see it and the contact info in there they might contact you. But if you only knock doors and have no response and that is main focus of the outreach, then you are dead in the water.

You really expect people to believe you were talking about a donkey? You weren't. You were speaking towards an individual. You took a word that has a certain meaning, which by the way isn't bad, and changed the meaning by changing the spelling of the word. It insinuated you were calling that individual an _ _ _.

The sad fact is that the Tv Issue is a joke anymore. We have UPC ministers with tv's in their home already, watching ungodliness personified. We have district officials that turn a blind eye to it. And I have it on good terms that there are UPC churches already advertising on tv.

Why worry about a vote? Some are going to do what they want to anyway.
