I have never been called to preach, I don't think! :)

That being said, I think one knows in their heart. One might seek affirmation, but it really is between you and God. I think that some have been called only to be turned back by their pastor for one reason or another. I know a pastor who told a young 21 year old that he was not called to preach. It turns out that his own son was 21 years old, and the pastor was grooming his son. Well.....the 21 year old kid left and started his own work in his home. Within five years the kid was running over 400 in attendance!

I'm not against pastors giving you advise, but the only way to know for sure is to get out there and preach and see what happens.

I think it has something to do with being outside and seeing the clouds look like a G and a P. At least I think maybe that could be it.

We were talking about this in my last home-church group. We believe EVERY man should aspire to be an elder and should become apt to teach, if he is not already apt to teach. The qualifications of an elder are not supernatural qualifications, they are character traits that every man can achieve. Not everyone can be a prophet or an apostle, but every man can be an elder. So our call as men to preach is not some voice from the sky, it is the burden every man should feel to mentor the younger men, to teach in the assembly and to be able to preach the Gospel to the lost.

How does one know when they've been called to teach school?

Or when they've been called to be a fireman?

Or when they've been called to be a stay-at-home mom?

Or when they've been called to.......................................

I do believe that God calls some to preach. But I also believe that when God calls someone to some other calling in life, it is no less a true calling from God than when God calls someone to preach. What do you all think?
