1. My dad. His choices didn't do a whole lot more than hurt me, but I have never been able to escape the fact that I am so much like him. I've faced a lot of the same forks in the road he did. His choices helped me make my own decisions. And, I have to admit that being so much like him, walking too many of the same paths, being in far too many of the same situations, knowing him, has given me empathy. You can only see the outside, you can't know what's on the inside unless you take the time to dig a little. What you find there may surprise you.

2. Dan Hauge. Baptist pastor who put up with my attempts to convince him the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and speaking with tongues was still for today. He taught me to study for myself, to dig in, and how to use study tools to help get more out of the Bible. At 15 years of age, I couldn't have learned anything more important. (I never did convince him though..lol)

3. My best friend, Ronzo. I met him when I was struggling to get my feet under myself. He's walked with me and held me up when I couldn't stand on my own two feet. He's taken every opportunity to direct me to God and spent a lot of time teaching me who God is, both Bible study and by demonstrating the character of God. Right now, his influence in my life is the greatest, as it's the most current.

4. Well, except for possibly our pastor. :) Robert Allon has had quite an influence on my life lately. He's said the words that undid what I thought I knew about God and made room for me to learn who and what God really is.

The men who have influenced my life are largely "nonames"... save for the Lord Jesus of course.

My father, not a perfect man by any means, but truly my dad! Loves me, and taught me right. Saved when I was still young, I never knew him when he drank or smoked or cussed or partied or fought. Still, his stories of his past and his conversion left a great impression on my life. I may be second generation Pentecostal, but because of his life and my mothers, I have a first generation experience of my own!
I know he'd be by my side in a heartbeat if I needed him. I know he'd lay his life down for mine without thought.

My brother, again, not a perfect man, but loves me and would be by my side in a heartbeat if I needed him.

My husband. Mr. LPW. Not a perfect man... lol.. but he's my hubby and he's stuck by me through thick and thin. Proving to me that Love and the Lord hand in hand can triumph.

My current Pastor, I know he cares of my soul, and I have availed myself of his biblical knowledge many tmes. I have been fed consistantly from the Word through him... R. Woodward.

The first Pastor my husband and I worked under... loved us and we knew it. the Late Gerald Perkins.

I also have another friend in the minstry who has played a big part in my life... he shall remain nameless.

They aren't men yet... but one day they will be. My sons. I realized when my first was born, that I could no longer sing "He's the ONLY reason I live... " any longer, and truly mean it in the absolute sense... Jesus is the only reason I live and breath, the only reason I have hope... but if there were nothing beyond this life.. I would still have reason to live. For my two sons.
I'm certain they will give me much over the years to come, but right now they give me daily joy, laughter and another great reason to continue pressing on and leading them in the upward way.


There aren't many men in my life... but the ones I have been blessed with, are good ones!
