I could never AMEN someone who teaches that only green pickles can make it into the relish. I agree that there is only one way to get into the relish but yellow pickles are just as welcome into the relish as green. I'm no respecter of pickles but cucumbers are another matter. If they haven't become pickles, they will never make it into the relish and will be forbidden from the potato salad! They must be born again of the water and the brine to become a true pickle.
