"Adoption of such a resolution would divide our fellowship. While some proponents may feel adoption would have a positive effect, we must accept the fact that division would be inevitable. There might not be a mass exodus at first, but eventually alternatives would surface which would attract a substantial number of UPCI ministers."

Is this code for "hang on guys, we have an alternative in the oven"?

If this is true, then NOT adopting such a resolution would also divide our fellowship. Some have already left because they don't want to be limited in how they can reach the lost

In my opinion that statement is there for several reasons. First it is factually accurate. Second, and most important, this is a pretty blunt warning that they are going to leave if it passes. I am sure this is intended to once again draw the moderates to their side in the vote under the banner of maintaining unity.

I noticed they did not say alternatives "could" sufrace but rather that alternatives "would" surface. Again I belive this is an intentional message.

Exactly. It is inevitable.

The UCs in the fellowship will never maintain perpetual fellowship with an organzation that allows such liberties among their churches and ministers. On the other hand, the "progressives" will never maintain fellowship within an organization that continually repress the vision of those who seek further venues of ministry that television allows for.

Exactly! That is why I think if this resolution fails or is postponed again it is only postponing the inevitable.

Ultra cons have many more things besides the TV issue they are unhappy about so their slow march toward starting a new organization proceeds.

While I beleive the AMC organizers when they say their intent was not to form such an org. the fact of the matter is that it has united ultra cons of every stripe (AMF, UPC, ALJC, GIB) in a way they never did before and those new relationships, I believe, have led to a new org. being more viable.

On the liberal side preachers and churches will just keep trickling away as a church becomes large enough to be self sufficient and a pastor feels that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks in leaving. For these men the control issue of restraining them from a technology that can help fulfill the great commission will be a deciding factor in some cases.

Why on earth would it cause division to grant individual churches the levity to decide whether they want to run a TV program.

No one would be forced to run one.

This is all just pride & prejudice.

CCI the analysis is correct to an extent the AMC, the IAM Foundation for missions and now the Apostolic Compass are unitng conservatives in a way such as never before. But a new organization?????????? I seriously doubt that most have had organization up to their ears. There is no interest in it unless it would be a very few. Maybe we are returning to more of an Apostolic pattern as in the NT and leaving the trappings of organizational lives behind.

Two quantities of which there is little disparity.

I tend to agree.

I think that there is a dawning of enlightment among men of like minds that fellowship is more than an organization, denomination or a card but rather a communion of like minds and spirits whose LOYALTIES are not found on some STUPID annual coerced pledge but rather in common love of truth and godliness.

Bro. Strange when I first heard about the AS letter I was shocked firstly I would not sign something like that every year simply because I would not fellowship men who had to be forced to sign they believe the new birth message. They were already asked those questions when they applied for license. I never understood it but since they passed it if they signed the thing and did not believe it they have worse problems than the purpose of the AS. They are liars and I do know ALL liars shall have their part..........
