Cool. So, when you pray in the authority of Jesus, is it just as if Jesus himself were praying?

Ordinarily, in human terms, to do something (such as saying something, or asking something -- i.e., praying) in the authority of someone else has the same effect (legally, for example) as if that other person were taking that action. It is acting as someone's agent, or with power of attorney.

Is that how it works for you, when you pray in the authority of Jesus?

I thought it had the same effect as "I am been authorized to do this in some elses place".

It also simply means being given the authority or power to perform some act.

When you're asked in a store or a fast food restaurant to donate a dollar for charity and they hand you a card to put a name on, do you sign HIS name? Do you put Jesus or do you put your name, your children's name or your grandchildren?
I always think of Him saying to do all things in His name and sign HIS name to it. Wouldn't it be nice to drive through DQ or some other place and see nothing but His name taped in the windows?

Or "backslider!". Which is incidentally a term I have only ever heard in apostolic circles.

I've never heard anyone personally around here (where I live) use that in association with being UPC
