Just a point of information regarding D&G.. the last time I played with them at Bro. Fauss' church, Rayborn and Clayborn were both on extended fasts and could hardly speak without weeping and speaking in tongues.
I have not followed the journey they have taken other than I know that their pastor took another road and they may have been a bit disillusioned by it all. I assure you that all of my experiences with them were very positive and very anointed! |

I did once.
I left, and gathered up a young man and his wife who attended a friend of mine's church while I was at it. I knew his pastor wouldn't want him staying. If I called his name, most of you would know him, as he has become very prominent in recent years. The speaker was supposedly "operating in the spirit," but I didn't like what I was feeling, and decided to get out of there pronto. |

The preacher preached that he hoped and prayed that the church a block from his would burn to the ground. The church [I will not say the denomination] was one of the few churches that promote family values and return to Biblical truths and advertise heavily through all media types. My thoughts were that if any visitors were from that denomination they would be offended and NEVER saved because of one man's ignorance. The second thing he preached in the same sermon was that a 16 year old girl got up during a service to go to the restroom and that she was abducted from the church foyer, taken behind the church and raped. He blamed her for wearing a slit in her skirt and used it as a jumping off point for rigid dress standards. This also I thought to be an ignorant statement because we all know that if lust is in the heart of a person that nothing a person wears or doesn't wear instigates his predatory mind. I have purposed in my heart never to sit through another ignorant sermon, such as was preached by this ignorant man, no matter what his name or rank...:haloplug Blessings, Rhoni |

Were you in Plano when AM had them in the school auditorium? That was quite an eye opening experience, my very conservative dad, much to my surprise spoke well of them. Their pastor was still traveling with them at that time. |

I try to do like RD suggested and avoid such settings. I believe I would have to walk out on that one. |
It was walk out or commit a grave social error! :lol

I've sat through a few sermons while cringing and wanting to leave, but I'm just too polite. I have left momentarily when the music was too loud; I don't consider that walking out of a service, though.

More than I should have, I'm sure.
I have walked out of the service a couple of times while visiting churches for the first time after a long distance relocation. Usually because something seemed "off."
I walked out of my present church on a Wednesday evening. I was unaware that we were having a song service instead of bible study. The visiting musical "ministers" were lip-synching. They went on and on, and they were awful. I probably was there for 3/4 of it. I looked at my wife, she looked at me, and we agreed enough was enough. We's gonna grab the kids and scoot, I get up at 5 am, ya'll. I walked out of a church that I was a fairly long term member of when a "special" altar call was made during the middle of the service. Some context is necessary. A local girl had gone missing. A massive manhunt ensued. We prayed and fasted and contributed to fundraisers. Weeks later, her body was found. Her rapist/murderer confessed that he did it because she had inadvertently stumbled across his meth lab. I don't know why, but these events caused fear to grip my pastor and he wanted to have an altar call wherein we would pray for certain specific protections. The Holy Ghost told my wife and I simultaneously to get out NOW. We grabbed the kids and scooted. I pray for this sort of protection for my family every day. My daughter is too young to receive an explanation that this sort of evil exists. The God I serve can protect her and us without a special altar call wherein she learns what evils specifically she may now develop fears of. |
Ohio Camps are notorious for half the crowd loitering outside during the preaching. I've been to many district camps where you couldn't hear the preaching in the back because of the chatter on campus. What's sickening is the some of the most serious offenders 10-15 years ago are now running the show today...

I have not done it at the church I now attend. We spend more time preparing a song that will be sung to take up the offering then some pastor's spend preparing a good sermon. They believe throw the word out and it will work no matter the trite sermon they preach. My leaving was like leaving a baseball game in the 9th inning when your team is down 10 runs. |

You know how kids are...they act like they are not listening when they really are. They were out talking in the back trying to find husbands and wives....now that they have a helpmeet...they can minister;)!:heeheehee Blessings, Rhoni |
I walked out of a service once. It was because of a song that was sung that promoted trinity. It was supposed to be Men's Conference in Tioga, LA.

I left when the preacher started glorifying flesh and saying that a husband is a priest of the home. Where is that in the Bible? People give can give you an explanation as long as the Gettysburg Address. Yet they don't actually have any Bible to back it up.

They were waiting for Bible College to find a helpmeet. Those guys knew they were getting daddy's church when they got older. Not much sweat and tears with that.

Perfect Hate!
My very first "Apostolic" Conference was at Pastor Billy Adams church in Pensacola, FL. I would say it was about 1982 - 83. I had no idea what an AMF was and I took my youth pastor with me and we showed up in SHORT SLEEVES! :heeheehee
I had NEVER heard it was something we should not do!!!!!!!! It was funny when I found out that they did not believe in short sleeves or SUNGLASSES!!!!! We could not get over them actually believing this! We went to a day service where Pastor James Varnum (in his Independent days) of Bellview, FL spoke on Soul winning and called the message "Perfect Love". He shared how that his people were teaching HBS and a 12 year old boy had taught a HBS and won a whole family to Souls Harbor. We thought it was so great - we were actually there from his invitation to attend. It was a very edifying message to win the lost! Well - Pastor Varnum sat down and a Brother "C" got up and said - well, we have heard about this PERFECT LOVE - but today I am gonna preach on "PERFECT HATE". He got all wound up - being so critical of Pastor Varnum and his "big house" and "big fine car" and ranting and raving and said - there is no such thing as Home Bible Studies in the Bible and he had never heard the such of a 12 year old boy teaching anybody anything. He lam blasted everything and everybody there and then started pounding the pulpit - screaming - PERFECT HATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE SINNERS - You may say - Oh NO - Brother "C" - You don't hate the sinners - you hate the sin! He then screamed LOUDER than ever - "I HATE THE NASTY FILTHY ROTTEN UNGODLY SINNERS - GOD HATES THEM AND SO DO I"!!!! At that - I got up and said to the young man with me - "I have heard enough of this - Let's Go!" We got up - picked up our Bibles and walked out and never went back. I walked out and would walk out again. |
