These vitamins and minerals should be obtained through diet. Another unproven claim is that distilled water leaches essential nutrients from your body, causing more harm than health.

I agree that HFC is of the debbel. I think that is about one of the main causes for most of what ails America

Oh, sorry. Probably so, but it taste so nasty, I wouldn't have chosen that.

My husband drinks almost a gallon of sweet tea per day. I have been making a gallon of tea every day of our 26 years of married life. I drink a glass or two about two or three times per year. Just can't handle the sugar. It gives me a very HUGE headache for days. And I only use 3/4 a cup per gallon. Most people use one cup.

when it comes to hot tea, I just dont use any sugar at all. with coffee, I really just use enough to cut the bitterness and not to really taste the sweetness.

I NEVER use fake sugar. that stuff rots the brain.

Agreed! I think I have used Sweet-N-Lo in the past - nasty!

One time I gave my daughter, when she was very young, some Crystal Light. She had a really bad reaction, even getting blood shot eyes. Very weird - no artificial stuff after that.

We are all, except for my husband, very sensitive to food additives.

Renda,
It is also interesting that some people cannot eat sugar in any substantial amount or they become immediately addicted and have to break the addiction all over again. While others can eat in moderation.

Agreed. And, it appears that HFC was developed to use up all the corn crops that were in excess when the government was paying farmers to farm corn. It's of the debbel for sure.

I'm with you on Monsanto, PO. Genetically altered seeds are of the debbel too.

I dont think genetically altered plants is dangerous to humans. DNA is not dangerous to eat.

I do think Monsanto takes a heavy hand and I dont like some of what they do related to that.

if a farmer is planting a non-monsanto crop, harvests his plants and reseeds from his own crop, even if it is polinated by monsanto crops, he should not be forced to give up his seed and I think he should be renumrated by monsanto for thier crossbreeding into his field.

so there are things I dont like about monsanto, and other things that dont bother me.

I'm afraid I'm the addicted type. I've been cutting back and getting rid of anything in the house with sugar. I was like a coke addict one night - - I HAD to have something sweet - - I ended up baking brownies from scratch because it was the only thing I had. Shame on me.

If you have that around locally, check the brands. Some of them have a very large amount of sugar - 16 grams. The GT brand has only 2 grams and contains
Folic Acid 25%
Vitamin B2 20%
Vitamin B6 20%
Vitamin B1 20%
Vitamin B3 20%
Vitamin B12 20%

The heavy handedness bothers me greatly, as my father was a farmer. So, any other benefit, they may have, is outweighed by the other. I won't go into the debate on genetically altered plants. It is the same, for me, as the vaccine debate - we should study for ourselves and make up our own minds.

Lots of reasons, but I will start with the most important for me, they require a good amount of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides. The simple fact is that this is poisonous and shouldn't be allowed to drain off into our water supply.

Let me come back and add that I find it very strange that Monsanto and this Administration don't want our products "labeled" as being a GMO product? Why would that be if they don't have something to hide? The European Union has banned GMO products in their countries - Japan, Australia, the UK and many others.

What about genes being more robust when not tampered with? GMO interferes with diversity. Natural plants handle drought, fungus invasions and insects much better than a plant altered and having reduced genetic diversity.

They also haven't proven to be safe. Studies have shown that rats ingesting GMO products clearly show organ deterioration.

Chronic disease is on the rise, because everything begins in the gut.

I am an enabler. I'm making Alfredo Chicken Pizza for dinner. I had yogurt and blueberries this morning, so I can have this bread today. Organic, unbleached flour.

The only problem is you have to stand in one spot for, at least, 15 minutes stirring the sauce. It's a rather claustrophobic experience and one reason I rarely make pudding/meringue pies. :heeheehee

I also found, for me, any decision I make is like fasting. If I talk about it, I won't do it. If I keep it too myself, I keep on the mark. And that is the same as taking a break from AFF. If I say I am going to take a break openly, I usually don't. If I don't say anything and just take the break, I actually take it. But, that's just me. Don't know what that means about my personality. lol

Hey, PO, you and I are alike here. I generally don't talk much about what I do, but just for the record a number of years ago, I took an 8 months sugar break. My body chemistry changed and I did not even WANT sugar, but it made socializing hard. And I do enjoy it too. I do eat sugar now but what happened when I gave up sugar is that I found myself craving fruits a lot. Now, even though I eat sugar I still eat a lot more fruit than I used to. So that is good. The people that say don't eat fruit......I don't listen to that. I figure fruit is very good for you. Beyond that, I have changed a lot in recent years. I use almost exclusively coconut oil for oils, I do use some butter. But coconut oil is very good for cooking as it does not produce trans fats like regular oils do. I use xylitol regularly for my teeth. I use sea salt instead of table salt. I use almond milk instead of dairy. I use psyllium husk every day. I do a lot of things and I feel better than I used to. I have implemented these things slowly over the years. It feels very good to be able to take control of ones own health. And I lost 20 pounds a couple years ago too.

I was putting together a wedding shower Saturday before last and didn't have time to get something to drink. They didn't have filtered water in the facility and so I grabbed a Coke! I was sick for four days. Man, it sure tastes good when you haven't had one in a long while, but the after effects are horrible.

I would drink a sugar soda before a diet one. Aspartame and those artificial sweeteners are worse for you than sugar. But I don't drink much soda anyway.

So true!! It makes socializing very hard. It's even harder when your husband argues about it. I keep telling him, "I don't care if all of this junk doesn't affect you, it effects me."

I follow all that you stated above. :thumbsup

Having a Vitamix really helps, but there are some things you can mix in a regular blender effectively.

I've shared this story before, but I wanted to tell you again. My husband told the guys at work, when he was working (argh!), "My wife bought a $500 blender." They were, like, "WHAT?!!!" Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

I have watched all those videos and I am not sure what to make of all of it, but you know that when the flu shot was pointed at me in nursing school, I left. I have not regretted the decision either. I am very happy about the outcome. Things have worked out so well, I am amazed. :) Pray for my husband. Later this year it could be coming down at his job. Bill Gates and sterility or no, I know enough to steer clear.

Have you ever read The Virus and the Vaccine? Scary stuff.

No, I haven't read that.

When we had a rear-end collision, a couple of years ago, I was in ER. The nurse asked if I had a flu vaccine. When I stated no, she, literally, just about ran out of ER and was whispering to a nurse outside the door. Actually, I said, "No, I have not and never will." LOL!

I don't care if the world ends today. Personally, I am sick of everything, and it can only get worse. And when the church has the same statistics as the world on divorce, etc., it proves we are going nowhere fast. That doesn't have anything to do with God's commitment, it just humans beings being losers, as usual. That's my pity party comment today. :heeheehee

Praying for your husband's job issue!

ILG, I am so sorry I missed this yesterday.

http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/asse...217820800p.jpg

I purchased mine at Bed, Bath and Beyond. You can go to the Vitamix website and locate the nearest Retailer.

It is great because, unlike a regular blender or a juicier, you get ALL the benefits of the fruits (have to peel your oranges, but then seeds don't have to be discarded) and vegetables. A juicer discards the skins and a blender does cut it up fine enough.

You do need to add an apple and/or banana to cut the bitterness of the vegetables you are adding. I found that bell peppers, cilantro, fresh ginger add a wonderful flavor to a smoothie. I also have a thread here with Smoothie recipes.

It is well worth the price and has an awesome warranty. Hope you can get one soon! :thumbsup

You love it because you are addicted. Not an uncommon thing at all. It takes some work, but makes you feel so much better not to include it in your diet.

Easiest way to eat better... Look at what's on your plate and ask yourself if you could have found that food to eat a few hundred years ago, if the answer is no don't eat it. Paleo or caveman diet... easy peasy.

Sugar is an addiction, sugar is made with the same process that Cocaine is made.

When a person quits sugar completely that person goes thru at least 2 weeks of withdrawal symptoms.

For years I have only used Agave or Stevia in my food, they are excellent.
