DA would paint himself in a corner pretty regularly then say something like, "Look, the moon is made out of cheese," designed to insult the UPC or holiness. Then he'd make his escape because the other person would fall down laughing at his nonsense.

It seemed to me that lately when I visited AFF it was mass confusion. Things had gotten out of balance.

I have nothing bad to say about Dan. I mean he believes what he believes and we all have a right to that, and to express that .... that's what forum are all about after all. But the forum just seemed to be out of whack somehow and I think "balance" was part of the problem.

Daniel A. has a brilliant mind and somewhat shallow debate skills. Consider this: Marvin Hicks was THE debater of all time. He could stir someone up to the point of almost making them furious and never lose the validity of his argument in the process.

I am, sincerely, impressed with DA's tenacity but tried to warn him in the past (in so many words) that his quick trigger style of shooting at people and hurling insults... especially towards spiritual disciplines and the UPC... pretty much invalidated anything he had to say to most people.

Again, great mind... but an overbearing attitude that sometimes invalidated anything that he might have had to say.

It's a loss to him and to us. And, quite frankly, it's not anyone's fault but his.

Me too. Ive found this site to be very informative and a blessing.
Over time, you recognize that there are some folk you might be better off just ignoring, so they don't interfere with your enjoyment of the site.

True. They take a lot of heat, unnecessarily.
Its pretty much a thankless job, and obviously you cant please everybody. But hopefully they know that most of us appreciate them.

So when I compare the two personalities...one is as harmless as the other is deadly.

This is only my opinion and many may or may not agree...doesn't matter but this is how I see it.

I know many are standing by their friend Dan, but I stand by my own thoughts and observations. I don't think he's stupid by any means...just not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree. Actually, I think someone said it well...he is not devious. That is a compliment.

I don't think Dan's intelligence, his mind, nor his ability to argue or not have been the problem.

Sometimes, you just have to know when to give things a break, when to relax a little, when to gear down. Enthusiasm for what you believe and your agenda is fine but wisdom is an essential ingredient in all that as well.
